But lately he has been trying, so gotta give him that much. I got him drinking tea at night and he's been avoiding certain foods and even doing vinegar shots. That is huge.

that is our ongoing argument, he also loves his beer he was having three a night and more on weekends and takes Blood pressure, high and anti anxiety meds, I told him if he eats better and drinks less he would probably not need it or at least not as much. He had a big scare though right before Christmas, he could not get his heart to stop beating fast, he wound up spending three nights in the hospital, and had his heart shocked back into rhythm. now he has another med for AFib along with all the others. He has cut WAY back on beer now he goes without at least three maybe four nights a week and when he does it's about half the amount.

What's odd is even though I am 40 lbs overweight my blood pressure, blood sugar and cholesterol numbers are very good.

Usually men don't like being told what to do. Esp when they are thin themselves and their partners are overweight or want to lose weight and they keep "nagging" the men to eat better. Of course they think they are doing it better since they are the ones that is thin. It's proven that metabolism of men and women are different. Plus we gain weight in different areas.

Bf has gained weight, but still is no where near fat. He used to work out a lot. He likes to eat healthy, but will not eat any meal that is not significantly meat based protein, otherwise he would just prefer not to eat. For ex he would not eat a meal that was carbs with a meat sauce on it, like rice with curry sauce that is meat based, or pasta with meat sauce. It would have to be curry with chunks of chicken or lamb, or pasta with meatballs or sausage. He doesn't eat as many veggies as me, but is good with the smoothies in the AM and loves Greek yogurt. He will not drink my home brewed kombucha, but will buy the $4 bottles any given chance if he is in Sprouts.

I will be 34 next month and bf is 36. Healthwise I think I am healthy, but I know I should not be drinking so much. I noticed my weight climb about 7 years ago when we lost our house and had to eat $1 fast food burgers every meal instead of grilled chicken salads, fish, and sushi. I never lost the weight even after I started eating better.

I found this. It looks like fun! I have chia and quinoa seeds at home. I'm going to try this tonight.

7 lbs is quite a good start. is Tony on the plan with you, it is so helpful to have support. My DH is not heavy so he thinks he is living healthy, the funniest thing is after a workout with dinner he has big chocolate protein shake with 2% milk and on top of the chocolate in the shake he adds a bunch of Hershey syrup to it He drinks two or more reg pepsi's everyday, he also adds at least two tablespoon of white sugar to the whole grain cereal I buy him. but he is thin so I try not to say anything, because he immediately turns the tables and complains about my weight so it is not worth bringing up all the sugar he consumes.

Once I read this book Plan D I will let you know what I think, it is supposed to be very good and about health and clean living the gal that wrote it is a chemist or something and really understands food, she was quite obese as a young adult and now looks amazing, several of my friends read it.
Tony eats: tons of frozen stuff (not tv dinners but stuff you heat in a skillet), cereal, sandwiches, pasta, French fries, burgers, drinks green tea.

I eat: eggs, avocado, spinach, unseasoned grilled chicken breast, gluten free toast, I'm obsessed with tomatoes on everything, tuna, tilapia, peanut butter, lots of bananas, lots of steamed veggies (zucchini, squash, cauliflower, and carrots are my faves) or raw veggies with hummus, and I drink water and almond milk in my smoothies.

So idk how healthy that is but I've been staying away from anything in a box, can, etc. Tony eats whatever he wants..too lazy to cook real meals for himself but we try to sit down and eat dinner together and he's been game for waking up super early every morning to walk. He has asthma so he uses that as an excuse not to run, I understand but think he could use the exercise. His dad has diabetes and I worry it'll all catch up to him when he's older. He refuses to go to a gym with me though and that's been the hardest part is going alone..but I'm getting better. He's not fat, but he is short (same height as me, 5'3 almost 5'4) and he's getting a bit of a beer belly. lol.

You know the more I have been eating veggies and less stuff out of a box or can, the easier it gets. I am actually preferring to eat veggies over meat lately. Not to say I eat vegetarian meals, but it is more like 70/30 veggies/meat, whereas before it was 70/20/10 meat/carbs/veggies.

And staying away from the canned and boxed stuff is easy for me. Just reading the ingredients label is enough to change my mind. And if the ingredients are that simple, heck I will just make it myself!

Boy do I ever need a boost in my weight loss. My scale will not budge. We do not have a Planet Fitness here in my small town...I'd have to travel 50 miles or more to get to one. So that just won't work for me and my work schedule. I feel as though I am eating pretty good over all...why is it the first 12 pounds came off pretty quickly and then the brakes went on, and I have not seen any progress what so ever. I can't see me doing the Dr Oz diet...it's too restrictive...although I really believe it would work. Ho-hum, I'll just keep doing what I'm doing and hope for the best.

I made a salad dressing w my chia seeds, raspberry vinaigrette, olive oil, pepper and salt. Then I put it on a salad of cabbage, broccoli, carrot, onion, corn. It would be great w sunflower seeds too!

I looked up online about sprouting chia seeds and the method I posted not work for chia since it has that gel stuff on it.

I'm making quinoa in the rice cooker now too. I can't ever get it right not he stovetop.

I took a peek at the Dr. Oz diet. I almost considered it until I seen the no coffee part. Forget that! I have to have my one cup in the morning or I might bite someones head off. LOL

My gym has a class this morning. Some sort of aerobic class. I am going to give it a try. Lets see if it works me out enough to make me sore. It's the first time I've taken this class.

I find it easier not to have any wine, because one glass leads to two and two leads to three. it's not been quite a week on the Oz diet but I lost 6 lbs so far. I know from dieting before that you tend to loose weight quickly at first so I can't count on this every week. Hard to believe but I am enjoying the restrictions of the diet, it takes the guess work out of what to eat and keeps me from trying to snack and eat just a little of this and a little of that. Bad news is my husband says my breath is bad and I am experiencing a lot of gas
I do take two probiotic pills in the morning so I was hoping that would not happen but it must not have kicked in yet

Congrat's on getting through the weekend. It sure is a good start, as I would think the weekends are the hardest. What a great idea to look at the menu ahead of time! True that about one glass of wine. Good on you for abstaining You must be proud of yourself!
