| Carmen sounds like you are eating really good, I too love tomatoes, I make a cucumber and tomato salad with some olive oil, balsamic vinegar. some dried basil and oregano with garlic salt, it's wonderful and I can make up a batch of it ahead of time and it will last for about 3 days, makes life a lot easier than chopping fresh all the time. Today the scale was the same as yesterday, oh well I know that everyday will not show a weight loss. Interesting article on the tea, I bought organic green tea, hopefuly mine is safe, but I am going to reread that article when I have more time.

| too funny after talking about the bagels at Planet Fitness and how I have never seen them there, I went this morning and it turns out it was bagel day, lots of bagels but they were tucked away in a corner, they were the good kind and from Panera. But I walked by and did not partake. I also noticed it was more crowded at 9;30 than when I normally go at 7:00 lots of retired folks and young people to, lots of people with nice bodies. On a side note it's below freezing and the side walks and streets are still snow or ice covered. Halfway to the gym on a busy residential street I see a lady about my age, struggling along a snow covered path (but old looking) she was carrying cloth shopping bags, which made me think she was headed to the grocery store which is across from the gym about 2 miles away, so I stop and ask if she would like a ride. She looks clean and normal so I was not worried. Well she gets in my car and the STINK was so awful, I am not sure what it was, smelled like a combination of soiled baby diapers, old cigarette smoke, and LOL maybe some Kimchi My car was pretty warm so I rolled down the windows and said oh I had the heat up to high. Then she tells me she is on her way to work at the Ace Hardware store in the same plaza as the gym. She looked fine, hair and clothes looked pretty clean, so I could not figure out why she stunk. I honestly thought I might throw up and she was in my car for only about 5 min. How can some one smell that bad and work around the public, honestly I feel sick again just typing about it.

| I love Yoga, especially the hot Vinyassa Flow style yoga. About 4 years ago I was a regular a serious yoga studio, it was warm, dark, warm and excellent teachers and cost $99.00 a month for unlimited classes. BUT I tore cartilage in my shoulder/bicep area from some of the moves. There is a wide spectrum of types of classes so people that are unfamiliar with yoga do not realize how intense some of the asanas (poses) can be. There are classes with passive type stretching, then there are classes that have you using your arms and shoulders to hold up the weight of you body. I got to the point I could do men's style pushups (chatarunges), headstands, balance my body by resting my forearms on my knees, and I was even able at age 54 to do a backbend. I thought I was on top of the world but then most likely due to my age and the fact that I took this up in my 50's I hurt my shoulder and also my back. I tried to keep going but the style I liked and really most styles of yoga have you using your upper arms a lot so I quit. A few years later when Bally's the gym I had gone to for over 25 years closed I joined a World Gym which happened to by owned by one of the gals that taught at the yoga studio, she put a small room in the back of the gym and taught the type of classes I had loved so much, so I decided to give it another try and figured I would take it easy on my left shoulder, well don't you know after about 10 classes I sprained my right rotator cuff I then decided I would just do basic yoga stretches at home. That was the beginning of me packing on 40lbs over the last 4 years. I recommend yoga to everyone but if you are new at it, take it slow before trying all the hard stuff, especially if you are not really young. I actually still have it in the back of my mind that if I loose 40 lbs I might try it again, I really really miss it. The other problem is if you wind up liking yoga it is hard to enjoy it unless you are in a dedicated studio where the room is dark and warm, taking it at the YMCA or through the parks and recreation dept is totally different but be prepared attending Yoga studios are really expensive.

| On another exercise note, for those of you that are young and are really looking to loose calories and tone your body, try kick boxing, but take it easy and do it right. Shortly after giving up yoga I wound up signing up for a ladies kick boxing defense class. I loved it and could tell in a short time what a difference it was making on my body. But typical me instead of going 2 nights a week like I signed up for, the guy saw how much I loved it so let me come to his other classes so I started going 4 times a week. We used bags that hung from the ceiling and they moved when you hit them. The class was in a fight gym, where they had that cage fighting and two boxing rings. The guy that taught the class grew up in a boxing family so it was a serious place and in three months I could tell what a difference it was making, so then on Saturdays when at Bally's I started bringing my gloves and punching their bag which was a huge floor mounted bag that was very hard and hardly moved when you punched it. Well I must have jammed my arm on that bag the wrong way because I wound up getting an extreme case of tendenits in my right forearm that lasted for over six month, picking up a suitcase or a gallon of milk was even painful. For a long time I did not even tell my husband I had gotten hurt again because he had been telling me " you are too old to start boxing" So once again I had to give up something that I really was enjoying and was making a difference. I wish I would have known or thought about this type of exercise decades ago. It is an amazing workout, it tones your arms, legs and abs and LOL you can work through your aggressions as well. But take a lesson from me, don't over do it

| Good on you for going The soreness will be a firm (can I say that word? hehe) reminder that you went. Easy for me to say, as I am not the one who is sore from the class. |

Sorry to hear about the smelly lady. Good karma must be coming to you in double for picking her up... and not passing out. Good one about putting the heat up too high. You have age on your side, 'cause you could always use the 'hot flashes' card The saving grace was that it was only 5 minutes... albeit 5 minutes too long. Sorry, but I have to admit I had a chuckle reading your post. My how her coworkers must love her Yuk! | |

| K, well my guilty pleasure is chocolate. I LOVE chocolate. It doesn't matter what kind it is either! It seems, especially around Christmas time, when I hand out chocolates, that I have any extra box (or 2) that we open up at home. I don't know what it is that I can't just have one or two of the top layer, I just keep eating them til the layer is gone. I must be feeling sorry for the chocolates left behind that I eat them all. So my NY's thought is... eat less chocolate. I have been doing really well, not eating as many anyways So today at work, one of the residents gave me a box of Purdy's Chocolates for doing him a kind favor. Of course I thanked him kindly, 'cause he really didn't need to do that, but the thought I had in my head 'how am I not going to eat the whole layer?' So, as an experiment, I had one, then quickly put them in storage so that I can't see them. It seems when they are out in the midst of my viewing I just can't say no to them as they're calling me as I walk by. Power of the mind... go figure! |

| I am sore today. But I knew I would be. My butt, arms, back are all sore. My abs are spared this time, but that's probably because I have already broke those in a little more than the rest. I am glad my butt is sore because that is where a lot my extra weight is. My mom was nice enough to pass her big butt to me and my sisters when we don't keep it in shape. gee.. Thanks mom. lol So I am skipping the gym today to give my body a day to heal, but do have a lot of running around to do, so at least I will still be moving.
