| That is a difficult situation. At 6 months the puppy is fully grown and if not fixed then the male does wander away from home moreso. It is sad that the owners are allowing their pup to do this. Not responsible owners . Hopefully he will come back and be ok. I know that where I live it has been triple digets. No dog will get too far in this weather. My guess is that he is hiding in the shade somewhere in the neighborhood. I would tell the neighbors that you saw their puppy again in your yard at such and such time. They are going to be looking for him. Hopefully they will stop letting him out the front door. I don't think it is your responsibilty to take care of him, but I would try and get him if i see him, only because I would not want anything bad to happen.

| I am sorry but this shocks me! Rosie does not go outside by herself ever. Let alone run loose. Too many things can happen: an animal could get it, someone could steal it, it could be run over....do I need to keep going? Have you mentioned these things nicely to the owner? Maybe she doesn't realize how Yorkies are stolen all the time. What a sad situation. I am with horsnaround, I think you should adopt it. ![]() ![]() ![]()

| The people are just plain ignorant. You can't say that she doesn't understand and her english isnt that good. People whether they speak martian or not have to understand that a dog running around loose is just plain stupid. They are just looking for trouble. If that were me and the next time I found it on my proch...it would be mine and I would take it and find it a good home with a responsible owner.!!! That baby is the only thing that is going to suffer. They obviously don't care enough about the pup to make saure it is safe. A$$es!!!

| I like the idea about calling the owner/landlord - that's a good step back from calling animal control and might still get their attention. Of course, anything could backfire so who knows. Who lets their yorkie wander? People steal them all the time AND they could get hurt by a larger animal . . They, like you said, just don't care.

| If you know that your dog runs off and you have to chase it down for however long, then is it not common sense to put a leash on it or set up a fenced area for it to run around in? I know it's expensive, but maybe they could at least put up a radio fence! Running around in the neighbors' yards are the least of their worries ... Someone could steal the puppy or it could run out into the road and get hit by a car. I agree with the suggestion about contacting the homeowner and telling them that the tenants need to stop letting the Yorkie run around uncontrollably. The only problem I could foresee is if it isn't in their lease agreement to have a pet, but I'd say the homeowner would know if the dog's running around the neighborhood constantly. Best of luck!

| Maybe you could suggest that she have a microchip put in the pup so at least there is a chance it will be sent back home if it ends up in the shelter or vet? Maybe you should give her a little harness and tag and tell her about YT at the same time? Maybe you should just commit kidnapping in the dark of night , just kidding...I think .

| I don't know who owns the home, as I've only been living here for a few years and have never met them. But, I'm sure I can find that info. I'm happy to get the dog a harness and leash. I just don't think that she'll use it. I have a 20 foot leash that I can bring to her. She can just tie it to a chair while she's outside. I thought about taking the dog for a few hours and letting her sweat it out. I can then bring the dog back later and say I found him down the road. It is against my better judgment though to teach someone that kind of lesson.

boy...he is not neutured. (Ian is 9.3 lbs.)Some of my neighbors told me that they saw "my" yorkie running around, and I had to tell them that I would never let me dog outside without his leash, and that it was Max. My biggest fear is that I will come home and see him laying in the street. I have told my neighbor several times that I would be afraid if I were her that someone would hit him, and not even know it. I also told her about coyote sightings as well as birds of prey. Max was out this morning...again. ![]() I don't have any idea as to what you should do, because what I've been doing isn't working.

| I understand that people are hesitant to call Animal Control; but it is always good to ask yourself how you will feel if you do nothing and the dog ends up dead one day on your street. I realize that people don't think that high kill shelters are a good option....what I will tell you is that most of them do not euthanize before an honest attempt is made to find the owner. The length of time for that depends upon the state laws and also how much room the shelter has. Additionally, if the owners do not claim the dog, they usually will contact rescue or have their own adoption programs. Personally, I would rather do that than to come home and find my neighbor's dog dead in the street. Most shelters have fines for people who leave their dogs out and often paying fines is a good incentive for keeping their dog inside! Lastly, I will say this about euthanasia. While the thought of it is very depressing, it often is a relief for some dogs that have lived a life of hell. I am not referring to gas chambers...I think it might be a good idea for anyone calling their animal control to find out what method they use for euthanasia. I also want to say that I would rather see a dog humanely euthanized than to see it suffer after being hit by a car.

Give her a book about Yorkshire Terriers, like how to raise them (but not how to breed them!) Has he been to the vet for his vaccines yet? Hire an interpreter and go have a talk with her. Or write out what you want to say on your computer and translate and print it out to give to her. Next time he comes over, let him in, and don't return him right away. When she comes to get him, tell her you couldn't catch him. This is so stressfull. Get the dog and give him to a friend who lives in a different neighborhood. Print this thread and give it to her. You could translate it first. The lifespan for unneutered male pet dogs is less than half that of a neutered male.

Our Great Pyrenees was hit by a truck and all of us including the dog went through hell. His hip was completely shattered. He could not walk for a long time. His hip was set, given pain meds, and then had to be tend to night and day as he could not even get up to get water. It was horrible to watch him this way. With that said, he is fine now other than a forever permanent limp. But I think he is fine because I had come home right after he had been hit. What if I hadn't been there? He would have laid there for hours suffering. So, I agree with being humanely euthanized over the car hit. However, I think your neighbor is just being, sorry for lack of better words, STUPID!

| We had a similar situation with a pit bull puppy from our next door neighbors. They got this sweet little pit bull and would let her run EVERYWHERE and no owners in sight. She was the sweetest thing - actually every time she saw my two crazy dogs, she'd roll over and let them walk on her. My fear for her, in addition to getting hit by a car, was her getting picked up by someone who has this fear of all pit bulls and getting killed because of her breed. They ended up moving away, so I don't know what happened to her. I don't have any advice but, I really hope these people get it together for the sake of their little yorkie.
