| Low carb and a cheat meal?? So I am doing the low carb thing until I get my surgery ( breast reduction ) to get down in weight so it will look better. I have been doing really good but today I ate sweet and sour chicken ( chicken, sauce, carrots, onions and green peppers) no rice! I also ran 2 miles, some of which was up hill. Do you think that will throw me off too much? I've already lost 10 lbs in about a little under 2 weeks. Just wanted to know peoples dieting tips or how you incorperated a cheat meal, not a cheat DAY into your diet. Thanks!

| It's actually good to have 1. something you are craving every now and then because if you don't you will end up splurging on something else and 2. to "cheat" every now and then because it reminds your body that you aren't being famished and can actually kick you metabolism back into gear. If you don't eat much then your body doesn't know when it will get food again so it holds onto everything it gets. Eat 5 small meals a day and try to incorperate some kind of fruit or vegatable into everyone of those meals. Also if you get hungry to early chew on some gum and drink water, LOTS of water. Good luck with everything, i hope it all goes off without a hitch!!

| I thought of some more For your exercise don't do the same thing over and over again your muscles will start to get used to it and you wont burn as much, what i do is intervals of 3 weeks. For example run 2 miles uphill for 3 weeks then do a week or two of swimming or some other kind of cardio you like. I have a kick a$$ ab workout at home i can get for you too. It sounds like you are doing an awesome job but just remember its unhealthy to lose more than 2lbs a week after the first week. Again I wish you the best of luck I know dieting sucks but eventually it becomes a lifestyle and it doesn't suck quite as bad lol.

| I eat mainly low carb as a lifestyle. I have fruits and veggies and all kinds of things that I have added back to my dies now but in the begining when I was trying to loose weight fast if I had a splurge type meal I just made sure that I was good the rest of the day and drank lots of water,or plain green tea, maybe have some steamed broccoli or something more healthy for the rest of the day. Also if I splurge then I stay away from the higher fat things until the next day. I don't think that the sweet and sour chicken will throw you off too bad at all, especially since you didn't have rice. The sauce has sugars in it but you will burn them off pretty quickly and your body will be burning fat again in no time I love low carb because I can eat as much as I want, and still loose weight

| You are doing a great job, better than I ever could, but since I am Chinese I must say, Chinese food is one of the MOST unhealthiest food out there, esp the ones from chain restaurants. Even auth Chinese is bad, lots of oil, MSG, corn starch and flour, that is why is tastes so good LOL! Sweet and sour chicken has a batter coating on the pieces, which is carbs. Most chinese food either has a batter coating or a flour dusting (which you can't see), so plenty of carbs. I'd steer clear. Good luck, dieting sucks.

| Low carb is definitely a good way to go to get quicker results. There are many versions of low carb, and some allow more flexibility than others. One cheat won't be too bad, but if you get away with it once, don't be tempted to make it a habit until you are down and stable for a while. It could cause you to hit a plateau, then you have to work harder at getting into losing again. I also want to say it is commendable to lose weight BEFORE surgery, and you will be happier with the results. Good luck.

Furbutts = LOVE Donating Member Moderator | I think it's good to allow yourself for some flexibility - plan a couple of "cheats"...otherwise, sometimes you can end up super rigid in your eating and you begin to feel like some foods are "bad" - which just makes you want them even more . Maybe when you're having less healthy food, portion it out first so that you don't eat too much of it? Btw, a close relative of mine had a breast reduction when she was 18 (now she is 44) and she said it was one of THE BEST things she ever did. Good luck and keep us posted.

| Thanks for the support and advice everyone! I went to the store here on base and got a bra that I would like to fit after my surgery to give the plastic surgeon an idea.. a 34C HeHe I can't wait.. as for the diet.. it is really screwing with my body.. my "monthly" came a week and a half early.. still has yet to stop.. its pretty light though.. and when I ran my 3 miles yesterday my legs were cramping so bad if I slowed down to anything slower than a 10 min mile pace.... soooooo.. I am going to go get some vitamin suppliments today.. oh did I mention if you eat egg beaters religiously that you get the bubble guts haha.. I've hit some what of a plataue... haven't cheated since that one meal.. I've lost a total of 11 lbs now.. I'm probably gonna start losing about 1 to 2 lbs a week now that all that water weight is gone... I don't know if I told you all but I go for my surgery the 16th.. wish me luck! Oh yeah , sugar free jello is your best friend on this diet LoL
