BTW I am baking my daughter a cake as a surprise as we speak so we can sing happy birthday to her tonight when she comes home. I will probably have to have at least a bite but I think it's ok to cheat here and there as long as you don't over indulge. I have been working out so much lately too. I hear as they get older they start thinking mom and dad are cool again. She's 15 so we're def not right now!! haha Last edited by Christinee; 01-26-2014 at 06:39 PM. | |

| I tried one of those cucumber sandwiches tonight. It actually worked out pretty well. I took capt_noonies idea of not putting a top piece. I just cut out the middle and filled it with meat, avocado, cheese, tomato and pickle. I will make it again. It was that good. |

| I tried the quinoa fried rice last night. It was ok but next time I can do it better. I will have to undercook the quinoa a bit or use less water. It absorbed all the fried rice flavors well, but didn't have the dry/chew texture. But overall still pretty good! Also I will leave my egg chunks bigger next time, and add shrimp as well.

| Pinterest Chickpeas crepes! Gluten free and paleo diet friendly. I'm going to try this. I saw the Red Barn brand flour at Big Lots. No need to go to Whole Foods.

| Sprouts is one of my favorites! They have all kinds of beans/spices/nuts/etc in bulk, so you can buy just a bit instead of a whole package. Great for trying out new things you've never had before. If you don't like it, you don't waste a bunch of food and money. They also have made to order sandwiches at the deli section for $3.99. Ours usually has it with Boar's Head for $1 more. Only thing I don't like about them is their meat and seafood section is lacking. I go there mainly for bulk foods. Produce is pretty cheap but I can usually get for cheaper at my Korean market. I am certain Sprouts will have chickpea flour there in bulk. Go there. I am positive you will love it. It's like a mini Whole Foods without the markup and the attitude. ETA: Sprouts is the first place I easily found raw nuts.

| Well I went to Big Lots since it's just across the street from my shop, and they had that Red Mill or whatever brand. They had pretty much everything except for the chickpea flour. So I will have to make a stop at Sprouts later. Hopefully tonight if I am not too tired. I wanted to make those crepes tonight dang it!

| Interesting article and experiment. We already know the outcome but still interesting nonetheless. Twin Brothers Put Diet Crazes To The Ultimate Test

| how's everyone doing?? I am still plugging along on a strict diet. Since the weight loss from the OZ diet seemed to be slowing down, I decided to switch things up. Since I am on a mission to lose for NY and my March Ski trip I want to do it as fast as I sensibly can. So on Sunday I started the Atkins diet, not much of a change really, swapped the morning shake for eggs and a few pieces of bacon and instead of almonds for a snack I have a piece of skim milk string cheese, I also now eat a bigger piece of chicken or fish than on I did on the Oz plan. Since Sunday I lost 3 pounds so I feel the switch is working. As of today I lost 15.5 lbs total and tomorrow will mark 3 weeks since starting. Radishes are the new pretzels for me, I always liked them but hardly buy them, I just found out they are on of the lowest carbs and calorie veggies out there. I slice them thin, put a tiny bit of salt on them and eat them as a snack. I just bought two pounds. I guess I am lucky because several people including my sister have told me they have trouble digesting them or they bother their stomach. I am also eating a lot of mashed cauliflower. I am just not into salads right now, perhaps 2 ft of snow and temps around 0 degrees since the New Year has something to do with it. Have a healthful day everyone I went to dinner with a group of girlfriends I did the same thing as before looked at the menu on line and told them I did not need one at the table, I just asked for a grilled piece of same and a pile of their fresh veggies, I was lucky there fresh veggies was a good melody of stuff I have been eating and they seemed to be stir fried like I do at home. Being able to order like this without looking at the menu is very helpful to me and I like it. Normally I agonize over what to get because everything looks sooooooo good.

| Just had a strawberry, banana & greek yogurt smoothie for breakfast. Now I am going to that gym class that left me sore for three days. My muscles need a little more breaking in. lol My mirror reflection tells me I am slimming down. But I have decided I am not going to get on the scale until someone comments that I look like I am losing weight. I can't take the stress. lol |
