| ![]() No, nothing has changed...AKC and YTCA has always allowed the 4 colors..never have they allowed chocolates, parti's, etc... Some breeders were trying to include the parti colors..so they voted and it was turned down. Last edited by YorkieRose; 09-18-2007 at 07:39 AM. |

| ![]() Only DQ will be the white parti-color's as in briewers into the show ring. You can still show a black dog because it's not a DQ however it is a fault but not a DQ. I just need to go and read what the DQ says LOL but too lazy and would have to search too much in my emails. |

| ![]() It all depends on the judge and what they stress as most important in an entry..that is why breeders ask other breeders what "type" a judge perfers..then they know what shows to enter. Why drive for 4 hrs if a judge loves a very dark dog.... no need entering a lighter one in most cases...we would love to say the judge is the expert and is never wrong..but it is just not so..some judges think black is best..others want a baby face..-other want lots of leg, others look for a compact dog.. Most are fair and know the standard... Last edited by YorkieRose; 09-18-2007 at 07:56 AM. |

| ![]() Donna...unfortunately some judges look at who is holding the lead instead the dog at the end of it..a fact plain and simple, but you learn to deal with it...LOL |

| ![]() Diggy...the judge might see something we at ring side can not, perhaps a missing tooth on a beautiful blue and gold dog.... |

| ![]() At a recent show (I didnt attend but a good friend/exhibitor did) his bitch is very light and small framed, she has 9 points (one a 5 point major last year) The Judge told my friend if his bitch was in the ring starting October 1st 2007 he would have to DQ her because of the impending standard change. There was another judge within ear shot and got into the converstation, which became somewhat of a heated discussion...they said in their opinion this change in the standard its going to force exhibitors to enhance the dogs if they want to win ![]() ![]() Color: BLUE: is a dark steel-blue not a silver-blue and not mingled with fawn, bronzy or black hairs. Tan: All tan hair is darker at the roots that in the middle, shading to still lighter tan at the tips. There should be No sooty or black hair intermingled with any of the tan. the new standard plain and simple reads QD'ing faults Any color or combination of colors other than blue and tan as described above. Any white markings other than a small s**te spot on the forechest that does not exceed 1" at its longest dimension.[/B] I had posted this published in the AKC Gazett - May edition a while back! http://www.yorkietalk.com/forums/sho...light=standard

Black coated adults would be considered off standard since the August 2006, disqualification ruling that was made to disqualify parti-colored and colors other than specified in the standard, was made.

It surprised me also...I know they don't achieve that until adult hood and I was surprised at the judge who said it too! When the head on a puppy breaks you see white and the judge said he'd DQ it because it's white according to what the standard will say when it goes into affect. AGAIN, I know it's not what the new DQ means but if one judge interputs that way how many other judges will? Donna | |
