You will find someone with a different interputation of what the correct color will be LOL....if you see my avator that is what i'd call an acceptable color except his gold in my opinion as a show breeder is lighter than what it should be but the color is accepted. His blue is what I'd call a medium blue could be a little darker to be closer to the standard but is again acceptable. He's not black and he's not silver. I hope that helps. He will stay black and tan but again that's ok he's a pet and you love him and that is all that matters. I have a black and tan bitch and love her with all my heart just like all my others and just as much as my show dogs ![]() ![]() Donna Bird Brooklynn's Yorkshire Terriers

She looks to have a blue coat. Looks to me to be a nice coat! Some bitches with each season can go lighter as my bitch did some will hold their color. So at 2 she'll probably stay a nice dark steel blue for now anyway LOL...again just depends on if it changes with her heat cycles. A black bitch usually will always stay black. Hope that helped Donna

THANK YOU!!! Okay so she doesnt have heat cycles so she probably will not lighten, she looks blue which is good, and her face is tan? I think I am starting to get this...lol I think AKC is confusing me on whats acceptable ![]() I did not realize coloring was an interpretation either I was thinking maybe a color chart?? lol something even I could understand....I guess I will have to start reading up. thank you for your responses!!!

Your girl looks to be blue and gold (tan) to me from what I can see in the pictures. She should stay the same color if she's spayed. I have old eyes and the pictures are small but from what I see I see blue and gold. What AKC says is acceptable is different than what the YTCA would consider acceptable....it's all in the eye of the beholder. If you were to bring a black bitch into the ring to me that wouldn't be acceptable to me because the YTCA standard doesn't say black it says a dark steel blue in adults that is because puppies are black and tan. But again, there is interpetation as to what one sees in my opinion. I try to the best of my knowledge to help those understand what I think is correct but I'm not always right and it's what I believe to be correct but I am open to be corrected if I am wrong ![]() Donna

| ![]() So, basically, its like the German Shepard, Whites cant be shown in AKC conformation, but can still be registered. Maybe its because the whites are not usually a good enough representation of the breed to show.?? Just like the designeer color yorkies arent either.(I have yet to see one that is) Maybe thats because the died in the wool dedicated to the standard,Yorkie breeders have been trying to not breed them. Its still and AkC and YTCA standard color fault, and like any other fault, should not be bred. Lynn |

From a show exhibitor and breeder's point of view you should only breed to better the breed and breed as close to the standard set forth by the YTCA. Study pedigrees and know health issues and everything else to better the breed and do NOT mix with anything less acceptable. Know the standard and health issues of any breed. In my opinion if you want a dog/pet of any kind buy from a reputable breeder, do your homework and do not support those that breed for nothing less than the best! Most reputable breeders sell on a spay and neuter contract unless you are going to show and then you have a contract that will limit what you can do with their lines. Please educate yourself and be responsible! JMHO Donna Bird Brooklynn's Yorkshire Terriers

| ![]() I did not think they had changed the 4 acceptable colors, but did not want to argue. Color is in the eye of the beholder when it comes to steel blue...there is a show breeder here in Florida who only shows black/ gold, but if you ask that breeder they feel it is a true steel blue...others think a slivery blue is steel...so things are still the the same... |
