Donating YT 14K Club Member | Response from AKC concerning coat Colors Wanted to pass this along in hopes that it answers questions about registering yorkies with different coat colors... The Yorkshire Terrier Club of America permits the use of Liver, Tan, Liver & Tan, Chocolate & Tan, as well as the four standard colors in registration of the Yorkshire Terrier. They also allow the Markings code for Parti-color. The only colors acceptable for the show ring are Blue & Gold or Blue & Tan. Please feel free to contact me if I can be of any further help. | i am glad you posted this. Guess that will settle a lot of arguments. i think when these threads get started, people forget that there are people that don't show and they tend to think that the only acceptable colors are blue and gold for ALL yorkies. Showring or not. |

| colors There has never been any doubt the AKC would register non-standard colors..but I am confused..the YTCA just voted on parti colors and voted them down.. Last edited by YorkieRose; 09-17-2007 at 11:35 AM. |

AKC code numbers when registering a yorkie for colors reads as follows: 018 Black and Tan 041 Blue and Gold 044 Blue and Tan 234 Black and Gold There is NO other code to enter for any other color than what is stated above. I have a registeration form in my hand and looked on the AKC website and there is no other code for any other color as stated above. YTCA is adding a DQ for color. I do not know the exact wording but parti's will be DQ'd or any other color than the standard in the show ring. Donna Bird Brooklynn's Yorkshire Terriers

Disqualification is in the show ring ... this means that Black and tan and Black and golds will no longer able to show. It's not just partis, chocolates and golds that will be disqualified, it's black coats too.

But i wonder if you can put it over the other side where it says 'markings and you have to go to akc site to get the alternatives or so it says. Last edited by Sugar's Mom; 09-17-2007 at 01:28 PM.

| colors If black is not allowed, few in SO. Florida will finish a Yorkie...LOL I am not the spokes person for the YTCA, but the 4 standard colors already listed are approved colors. |
