The interpretation is the key, color should not be a DQ on a pup from 6-18 months, once they enter into open is when IMHO DQ should be inforced, unless of course it is rather obvious the pup will never attain a true steel blue coat (breaking too light on the back). Also the "wavey" will be interesting many take the wraps out ring side, brush them out without ironing, the coat appears wavey when indeed its not, when being shown.

| ![]() I had a male who was being shown by my handler..he was in the 9mo to 12 at a Specialty...he had a super nice gold, but rather quite dark saddle. The judge asked my handler if she was sure the color would change and she told him who the sire was and of course he would be steel blue at maturity ..so he won his class..BUT he never attained proper color to suit me and was retired...I figured it made things a bit even for the times my truly blues were overlooked for a black... |

| ![]() I just got back an e-mail from AKC reguarding colors. "The YTCA approved these alternant colors for regstration but have not changed the standard eligibility for the show ring. Any concerns reguarding these colors should be directed th the YTCA as they are the legislators of their breed standard. " FYi Lynn |

| ![]() YTCA does not recognize Liver or parti's AKC might have an alternate number but the YTCA "does not" recognize those colors in it's standard. |

![]() I was responding to Brooklynn in post #83 so I seriously don't understand what you're getting at. Read between the two quotes above...Brooklynn is who I was talking to and was trying to get clarification from.

Bella Boo & Diggy Too! Donating GS Member | ![]() Well I would like to thank you Txshopper for starting this...I think the goal here was to educate and I want to tell you I learned a lot! Good post and VERY informative! Thanks again..... Also I have another question you may be able to answer....which club has the final say so on standard YTCA or AKC? Like if you were a breeder that showed, whose guidelines and standards do you thrive to meet?

Black/tan blue/gold Blue/tan and the other one I don't have my papers in front of me. Liver/chocolate and parti's AKC may have an alternate color # but YTCA does not recognize those colors other than stated on the registration papers. The standard that YTCA sets forth is what breeders should strive for. Of course you will have the other colors stated on the registration application but to be true to the breed you strive for the dark steel blue and shaded tan. I'm not trying to argue but trying to educate on what needs to be the ultimate goal when owning/showing a yorkie and know the difference between someone that is striving for the standard and those that are trying to incorparate "money" into this breed which is an awesome breed ![]() JMHO Donna Bird Brooklynn's Yorkshire Terriers ![]() | |

| ![]() So, as far as "registering" dogs, who has the final authority? YTCA or AKC. I always thought that YTCA just gives AKC "suggestions' so to speak but AKC is the governing body on ALL registrations. |
