At a recent show (I didnt attend but a good friend/exhibitor did) his bitch is very light and small framed, she has 9 points (one a 5 point major last year) The Judge told my friend if his bitch was in the ring starting October 1st 2007 he would have to DQ her because of the impending standard change. There was another judge within ear shot and got into the converstation, which became somewhat of a heated discussion...they said in their opinion this change in the standard its going to force exhibitors to enhance the dogs if they want to win

Color:
BLUE: is a dark steel-blue not a silver-blue and not mingled with fawn, bronzy or black hairs.
Tan: All tan hair is darker at the roots that in the middle, shading to still lighter tan at the tips. There should be No sooty or black hair intermingled with any of the tan.

the new standard plain and simple reads QD'ing faults

Any color or combination of colors other than blue and tan as described above. Any white markings other than a small s**te spot on the forechest that does not exceed 1" at its longest dimension.[/B]

I had posted this published in the AKC Gazett - May edition a while back!
