It's just something lots of them do to take pressure off the neck. Sassy always did this.

Yes you should elevate , remember there is a herniation in there.

Bella had some wheezing also but since i'm pregnant, i get hot at night so i leave the window open and i thought she might have gotten sick from that. She would be wheezing then use both side of her arms to rub her face/nose (?) and sometimes would also do it on the floor. I remember mentioning this before and also thought it would be normal dog behavior...like what she would do after a bath except with her arms to her face also.

Wheezing can ba a part of it . Sassy had severe wheezing is Bellas severe.

I haven't noticed it for maybe a week or so.

Another thing..I've noticed Bella's been loosing hair on top of her head. I was thinking maybe she might have a thyroid problem as well but while going through her med notes, it says nothing was found. Did yours loose hair? I will try to take some photos tomorrow to show you what i mean. Sometimes I'll find a chunk of hair here and there. I've noticed it's only her head also and no where else.

No she never had hair loss and if her wheezing is not severe then she should not need meds for it.. Has she been rubbing at the top of her head?

Not that i've noticed. she lost alot of hair by her ears and the side of her head.

Hmmm, is it on her bad side ? if so it could be lack of circulation.
I deff think you need to talk with the vet about upping her Omeprizole as she weighs more then Sassy did at onset and Sassy was on a much higher dose all along. I'm thinking she took 1/4 tab 2X a day. I will call the vet tomorrow and ask for sure. The hair loss could be side effect of her meds also.

No it's on both sides and I've noticed it before she started any meds. She's only on the omeprizole once a day. Since sassy was on the tablet, instead of liquid...can you find out how much mg was in the tablet. I remembered you saying you got it at walmart so it must be 10mg or higher which is alot more than what i'm giving Bella.

The tabs are 20 mg so if she took 1 dose a day she took 5 mg a day if she took 2 doses a day she took 10 mg a day as they were quartered. I just can't remember for sure if it was 1 dose or 2. I will deff call the vet tomorrow and find out for sure.
Even if it was only 1 dose a day that's more then Bella is on now. I truly believe the proper doses of her meds is why she lived so long.

I was looking at a website which tells you the dosage for a dog and it says .25-.5mg/pound every 24 hours. i figured the neuro is starting with the lowest dosage because bella is taking 1.25mg/day and that would make sense. I was thinking about asking the neuro to up the dosage but 10mg is alot since it should only be 2.5mg for a 5 lb dog. Here's the website

Yes , but we are talking about slowing spinal fliud so that chart probably does not pertain to this. Sassys dose was the same always even in the beginning. I will check out the chart then I'm off to bed. I will call vet and post as soon as I can in the A.M.
