I was wondering, how much are you all (those who are using it) paying for your dog's l/d food? I know it may seem like I'm being a cheapo comparing prices but I feel like I'm always getting ripped off. Also, I can only get it through the vet correct?
no sure she needs to be on that so discuss with neuro as her bats were low so she could be on low protein diet of 18% - mine are on purina ha 18% protein and 8% fat and it is $32 for 8lb bag not cheap girl we live in cali we are going to pay big time lolllllll those are the rules here lolllll

I'm so sorry for your lost. Bella's turning 2 next month and I'm praying she'll do as well as your little one.

If it was cheaper at the one you used, it makes sense....but the student thing should not really play a roll in decision making imho. If you ever decide to get a second opinion and, since you are requesting copies of your MRI and records for some reason, I would strongly suggest you think about taking them there.
she is requesting copies of mri and testing as i asked her to get them to keep them in a file incase of an emergency situation she has all the records kept at home as i do this with all of mine all xrays on cd and all blood work and testing in ascending order most recent on top that way in case of emergency i have them copy the file and all records are up to date - no re- doing blood work, xrays etc as everything is current - all pet owners should do this with a dog with health issues. The neurologist she saw seems to be good imo

You gotta do what you gotta do when it comes to a life. I am anxious to read the report and compare it to my girls report. Maybe I'm way off but when I saw the pic of molly my 1st thought was she has what my girl had. If she does she will be on meds for the rest of her life unless they do surgery. I was told it is way too risky on yorkies because they are too tiny and this surgery is very hard on them and they often don't make it . The neuro oversees everything , they don't just turn the students loose on your pet.
no it was 2500.00 for the mri and more for spinal tap when i called same to have a student do it as a bc neurologist and someone over sees student - no thanks i will take the board certified neurologist over a surgeon any day doing a spinal tap and mri - if i am going to pay that kind of money I want the best not someone learning. Now if it was alot cheaper and i could not afford for the specialist then maybe i would opt for that option

Oh gezz that is pretty expensive food. I guess living in CA has some downfalls to it.

In fact I think they will take a look at the MRI and tell you what they think. This deformity is very hard to detect and if the neuro is suspecting something else he may have not looked hard enough at the rite area to have seen it. The students caught the cyst but not the deformity in my girl. But the neuro saw it because he knew what to look for. This is something that is seen in the King Charles and a couple of other breeds. Kinda new in yorkies and mostly do to BYBs and mills, simply bad breeding . That's what I was told at WSU. I think I read something about it through AKC as well.
are you referring to the video that the british network did on this ?

YouTube - BBC Pedigree Dogs Exposed - Cavaliers

I know, I would assume a teaching school would be a lot cheaper but guess I was wrong. I actually do like the neuro we saw. My husband actually told me I should post him up here and recommend him to others when we got back from our trip to see him.

That was a good idea having me request Bella's records. I wouldn't have thought of it for some reason. All those tests are so darn expensive that it is good to them on hand especially if you don't want a redo and more money to spend.

Bella actually doesn't show any signs of pain. I like to rub her head, neck and body to see if she is in pain but I get nothing from her. She also doesn't show any signs of having the malformation. I'll let you know more about her condition once I get her report from the nuero.
nah that is not what it is i watched that video myself and it breaks my heart everytime i just posted the link

yeah in case of emergency the vets can get right on it knowing all the information as they will not be able to get them from vet until morning and seems everything bad happens at night

yeah i think same thing but your dog does not have itch and not screaming out in pain and not in pain to touch so i think yours is different than this and neuro is accurate either gme or ne

Good, one less thing to worry about. I actually just noticed something deep in Bella's ear. It could just be dirty. I would clean it myself but since she's sick and all, I'll prob call the vet to do it. I would take her to the groomer in the morning but I don't really trust them right now since Bella's vet knows her condition and she might just freak out having something go down her ears.
