Yep, I knew in my gut when I saw her pic that's what she had. I think she has it a bit worse then Sassy did. Sassy was 5 yrs when she was diagnosed and she did have good days and bad days. More good then bad though. It's kind of important to keep her stress level down as much as you can. And stress doesn't have to mean bad things. Going places even when she loves it can cause too much excitement for her and that is also a form of stress. I gotta go feed my kids I will be back after 5:00
. Also you need to baby gate the stairs and don't let her go up or down them by herself anymore as this jolts her skelital system.

well that is a little improvement we will take any little improvement here seems like it is all affecting mostly her right side from what i am reading - how long did he say it would take for seeing more improvement

He said 7-10 days and it's been longer than that
So, I don't know what else to expect.

that makes sense about the stairs - if you want to relax her one thing we use as allergies release histamines so dh likes easy listening music it is wierd but it works it relaxes them and my cousin uses this for her dogs that get stressed from thunder and fire works so maybe try it out as well if you like it

I have to do the same with dex he stays home all the time as he gets too stressed pants, vomits, etc in car etc so I like to keep his stress level down so better to just keep him home

wasn't he trying to determine between gme and ne and he said meds would determine which it was so maybe give him a call after 10 days and give a report and see what his thoughts are on this. Does he take email or faxes of updates for the file as you may want to report weekly what is going on so he can see the trend

yeah but it's weird because i don't see either one of those in the medical notes unless there's also a different name for it. I have to call him back after tomorrow anyways since it's been 2 weeks since she's on her meds and i need to know if i should keep her on the dosage or not.

lilymae, did you see any changes in your little girl after awhile on her meds? was her head still tilted?

I'm not sure what to look for to tell if she's doing better or not. She's always been "lazy" and would sleep all day if i slept all day.

Yes her head was still tilted after meds. After diagnosis we looked at every pic taken of her from puppy hood to that point and even her puppy pics she had a slight tilt to the left. We just thought she was doing it on purpose. You know how they turn their head as if to say " who me ". Unfortunately that was not the case. Also I'm wondering if her Omeprazole dose is high enough. It it used to slow down the spinal fluid so if the dose is correct it should have worked by now. I would ask about upping the dose on that. The laziness you talk about is all a part of it too. Does she lay with her head propped up on something often?

She also should not be allowed to jump on and off the furniture ( Ever ) and when you have to go somewhere you need to confine her to a room with nothing she can jump on and off of. I lock mine in the kitchen always when I go places. I have a very large kitchen and I just put the beds in there and water is already in there. That's the safest thing for her. Sassy would sometimes stumble and I think most do so stairs are especially dangerous. and I know she's very low to the ground but elevate her food and water bowl so she doesn't have to stress her neck anymore then need be.

Well , they didn't in Sassy but every dog is diff as no 2 deformities are exactly alike. Only time will tell. Is Bella doing any better as far as what you were thinking in beginning was a sight problem ?

it's funny you mentioned her head being propped up on something. she likes to have it that way or i just do it for her. if she's on my lap and my arm is down, she'll put her head on top of it. when she's on the floor, she'll lay down and sometimes on the bed she'll sleep without anything propping up her head but if the blanket is close to her she'll put her head on top of it. I'm not sure if she would prefer one or the other because most of the times, i'm the one putting something under her head. What would if mean anyways?

the neuro actually mentioned something about elevating her food bowl if we've noticed she's having any pain with her neck. We haven't done it yet but i guess it wouldn't hurt if we did.
