We have seen so many of these lately, it is hard to know what to believe. And then when they do not come back to answer questions, people begin to wonder.

But if you are going to blame the vet, then why not blame all of her friends and realitives for not helping her.

People who own pets have an obligation to have the financial resources to care for that pet. A credit card, a payday loan, a car title loan, anything. I'm not blaming the OP, I just don't believe thatit is more the vets responsibility than it is the owners.

Why not expect you to max out your CC. And if your credit is bad and you cannot get a CC then why should a vet trust you? The truth is, that most people do have the resources, either friends or family or a car title, but they expect the vet to just trust them.

| I just wish the vetting prices were more reasonable or there was easier ways to pay or that more areas had the cheaper vet and shot clinics...I don't know, I don't have the answers but I do know that a lot of animals are abandoned, turned into shelters or suffer due to the costs. I of course do not expect that a vet should offer thier services free but I also do not believe it should be legal for them to be able to turn away an emergency without at least the minimal needed to at least keep the animal from suffering. There are ways to set up payments that ensure they are paid. Again, I don't have the answers, just WISH I did! If it is true and he turned away a suffering animal without so much as pain management then I see that as being NO different than an owner which doesn't seek medical help and the owner is charged with animal cruelty.

On the flip side, there is no way or them to set up a payment plan that will assure that they get paid, especially if the pet dies. If you do not have good enough credit to get a credit card that can be kept for emergencies only, then chances are you would not pay the vet either. Pet owners have to be prepared financially to take care of their pet, even if it is just to put it to sleep. I am in no way blaming the OOP since we really don't have much info to go on. But from what she has posted, she had 7 animals and does not have the means to provide medical care for them? Not even $100 to have it euthanized? Now there might be more to the situation, info that she has not provided, so I'll give her the benefit of the doubt. Perhaps she recently suffered some other tragedy that depleted her entire emergency fund.

| I am so sorry for your loss. This is just...I don't even have words. I would report that vet. I understand not giving the treatment, but to not even humanely euthanize is sickening. My heart aches for you. Molly will be waiting for you someday.

| RIP Molly. This is just sad all around. I remain concerned about the OP's other 6 dogs for all the reasons raised by other posters.

YT 500 Club Member | Dont know of the exact oath but they do swear to one and they have to promise to put the welfear of the animal first. Everytime you take a pet for surgery over here you sign an agrrement that if they find something that reqires treatment other than what they're in for they have the right to do the surgery before contacting the owner, for the good of the animal. All the vets in my area are affiliated with an emergency service so if you need their services but dont have the funds in an emergency they sent the bill to your regular vet for payment. Again the important thing is your pet gets the treatment needed. Perhaps they're more trusting where I live, dont know about city vets, but most big cities have animal hospitals run by charities like the blue-cross or pdsa, so theres always somewhere to turn to. |
