I of course do not expect that a vet should offer thier services free but I also do not believe it should be legal for them to be able to turn away an emergency without at least the minimal needed to at least keep the animal from suffering. There are ways to set up payments that ensure they are paid. Again, I don't have the answers, just WISH I did!

If it is true and he turned away a suffering animal without so much as pain management then I see that as being NO different than an owner which doesn't seek medical help and the owner is charged with animal cruelty.
I totally agree that ER vets charge ridiculous prices, and they only do it because they know that when people bring a pet to the ER it is most likely critical, and people will pay.

On the flip side, there is no way or them to set up a payment plan that will assure that they get paid, especially if the pet dies.

If you do not have good enough credit to get a credit card that can be kept for emergencies only, then chances are you would not pay the vet either.

Pet owners have to be prepared financially to take care of their pet, even if it is just to put it to sleep.

I am in no way blaming the OOP since we really don't have much info to go on.

But from what she has posted, she had 7 animals and does not have the means to provide medical care for them? Not even $100 to have it euthanized?

Now there might be more to the situation, info that she has not provided, so I'll give her the benefit of the doubt. Perhaps she recently suffered some other tragedy that depleted her entire emergency fund.
