Ann, I used wood screws evenly spaced and wood glue. Sanded everything even where needed. It definitely will never move unless I want to replace it.

We bought two cooktops for MIL's house, one Viking and one Electrolux. We tried to sell the Electrolux but ebay screwed us. The Viking is the one I have sitting under my ironing table. People lowballing us for like $400 for it.

We had a Sub Zero at the old house, but we had to sell it after we lost our home. Our fridge is a regular fridge, not built in, but would love to have another built in.

I would use a nail gun (air compressor kind) if you have it. I've found that trim isn't always flat, so the nails hold it down really firm in case you need to bend the trim a bit to get it straight against the board.

I would caution though, since the half round isn't a flat surface on the outside part, you'd have to make sure to shoot the nail in perfectly square otherwise it could come out the top or bottom. (Not sure how thick your table top is)

We think its presence will be big enough there....we hope! Otherwise, the plan is to put it in our dining room and put the one we had planned for the dining room above the island.

What do you guys think? I've been seeing a lot of the handle less type appliances and I do really like the motion sensor faucets for less chance of cross contamination. But you guys know me, not into the modern style.

Personally I don't like the handle less cabinets and appliances. I just feel they will malfunction some how and then how are you going to open them? Our dishwasher has the buttons hidden, and only the handle shows. Came with the house though, so I didn't pick it out.

I personally want a convection oven. Had one before and it was so convenient. Microwave and oven in the same unit. Oh have you guys seen the microwaves that open like an oven? They usually have them built in over the oven so it looks like double ovens but one is the MW. I love those! Our MW is over the cooktop with the hood built in. I wish we could have a regular hood and MW in the wall.

I showed this article to my hubby who looked up the commercial oven and found it cost $8k. Needless to say, he told me we'd stick with the one that came with our house...lol!


Still like the lights though...LED is just so modern.

Are you guys getting into the Edison bulbs we're seeing everywhere? I'm loving them and the glow they cast. I got this oblong one at Lowes, but they have the more traditional shape as well. A recommendation - if you buy a bunch at once - test them ALL right away bc it seems one thing about them is that there are some duds that just light up and burn out immediately.

I have them in my ceiling fan and a bunch in my drawer somewhere. I call them Tesla bulbs, Edison was a big jerk face d bag. Don't give him the credit! Lol!

He paid neiborhood kids to steal peoples pets and he did horrible experiments on them.

Lol...they are indeed phallic in this shape. You can get them in a more normal shape as well though, like this:
