| Furbutts = LOVE Donating Member Moderator | This isn't the most attractive nook in our house since it houses my painting area, but nonetheless I'm kinda liking the new painting desk I made yesterday. It only cost about $110 too! I used 2 trestle legs from Ikea (height adjustable, awesome!) (also, easy to put together, btw!) and then I had Home Depot cut down an MDF board for the top of it. Do you think I should stain it or do you just like it natural? Keep in mind there will eventually be paint all over the top of it...so the top will end up looking crappy/messy no matter what. This area is the nook off of our kitchen, btw. Luckily we have a formal dining room too so we still have somewhere to eat!

| Ann, That room is fantastic! Wish I had one where I could paint and do crafts and leave everything in place. The table is awesome! If you wanted you can stain it and polyurethane it if you will want to clean it up more easily. Or leave it as is and have your work leave a little behind which is neat! Love that room!!!

| Furbutts = LOVE Donating Member Moderator | Do you guys like this fixture for above a kitchen island? I like it, but I'm worried as to whether it would have enough "presence" above our island. The fixture is 31" long, while our current fixture is more ornate and is about 45" long at its longest.... Loving the industrial style, of course, lol . Goes without saying at this point!

| I made from scratch a workbench that is 3' x 8' with added edging that I routed round. When I had my kitchen done I saved every two by 4 I had. The workers said the wood was too old to do anything with but I ignored them! I dove tailed the legs with the "hard old wood". lol The top is removable for making it less heavy if I move. It will come with me. Love woodworking, carving, painting, crocheting, knitting. I call myself a jack of all trades...too many interests! lol I watch this thread to see such different things! I also want to see Priscilla's ironing board!

Just let me know if you need me to ship it to you. I've even shipped booze to FL so I wouldn't have to bring it on the airplane. LOLQuote:
I did finish my ironing table, and am still in the process of hanging up my dotted paper, so I will post pics once I am done with everything. The dotted paper is so frustrating. I originally wanted it hung under my window. But I didn't take into account the window framing and all the studs behind the drywall. So I made the holes way too big and had to putty it up. Now I am putting it on the opposite wall, and even went to a house they are still framing up that is the same model as our house to see where the studs are. The house still being built had no stud at the door so I could use an anchor, but well guess what happened when I went in with the drill! So now I gotta go back to Home Depot and get long wood screws.

| Furbutts = LOVE Donating Member Moderator | It's $134....so by the time you bought and cut all the pipe, figured out electrical, frosted light cups, etc...you wouldn't be saving all that much, I don't think.

| Does anyone have a meat grinder? I asked on the KitchenAid thread but no answers. I got a old style hand powered grinder at Ross and thought I scored, but the clamp was too small to fit our countertops. It was all steel and only $15. Had to return. I would like something on my KitchenAid but the non plastic one is like $200. Macy's is having a Home sale but they don't have the metal grinder.I'll post pics of my work room and sewing table soon.

My cousin has the grinder, she uses it all the time to make sausage. I was like why make sausage when you can buy sausage, I tried her and I get it so good. She has never commented bad or good about the grinder but I do know it gets used.

| You can put in the quality of meat you want in your sausages and ground meat. You can also eat your ground meat less cooked than if you buy it already ground. Just like how you can eat a steak rare, you can't or shouldn't really eat hamburger rare, unless you or the place you ordered it at just ground it. You could have a burger out of filet if you wanted!

She said the same thing, she is a very clean eater and prefers to know where her foods come from. I know she likes hers a lot, in fact she uses her Kitchen Aid Stand Mixer almost daily with all the attachments, she makes pasta and even ice cream with it.

| Can you ask her which model grinder she has? I saw a plastic one from Amazon for the Kitchenaid and gets really bad reviews. Wondering if she uses the metal Kitchenaid brand one for another brand.

The light fixture for your island is very cool, but I am terrible with judging size. It would be nice if you could see it in the room to decide.
