Honestly I haven't really done anything with the Rub N Buff yet except to first try it out. The tubes are just so small I'm afraid to use it up on one project and it was kinda expensive. I first tried the method I used to paint my doorknob but bc of the factory paint job, the spray paint didn't really stick. Once I tried to sand off the black to reveal the bronze underneath, everything came off. So I resprayed the bronze, then hand painted the charcoal gray then the aqua, then sealed the whole thing.

I hate having to use glue to hold things together bc eventual it always fails. But for the fake wax drips I think it worked well.

I know...that rub-n-buff is not cheap! I've used it on small things though, and a little does go a pretty long way, surprisingly. You did a great job w/ out though.

I've also just discovered this stuff, which looks totally FUN for rusticating things: Amazon.com: Modern Masters PA904-04 Rust...

I recently did use a polyurethane glue (like liquid nails) and wow, that stuff rocks...it's like construction adhesive. Oh I got some stuff from the Aaron Bros that closed. It makes patina on real brass. I'm going to eventually get around to using that on that vintage brass lamp I got a few weeks ago. So it was $10, but since everything was 90% off, I got 2 bottles of the patina for $1 each, and some silver and sealer also from the same brand. All for $1 each.

As for glue, yeah I hate how they all say the best ever, and it's not. I esp hate people who use glue in millinery. That's like the first rule, never use glue unless you are putting on rhinestones without drill holes. Everything should be sewn by hand. I feel like using glue is cheating.

So I don't think I posted these here, but I did on my FB.

This is what I got so far on the reupholstery project. I think I'm going to try to dye the original trim and see if it takes. It's poly so usually it doesn't take dye, but I'll try bc I don't want to buy more trim. There is a shop in town that is closing and we got a ton of fabric for $3/yd so I don't want to buy trim at regular price for like probably $6/yd.

Also I made this faux stained glass a few weeks ago. Don't remember if I posted this, but this was originally the dog tie frame.

Remember when I said I thought the glass on this was plexiglass? It's actually glass, but it was just SO dirty I thought the lack of shine was bc it was plastic!

What an awesome job on the chair! And the faux stained glass turned out great. Love the colors.

Thanks. I'm working on a few other projects right now. Hopefully I can finish and post those soon. I always find I have to have at least 3 or 4 things going at once. When I get frustrated or bored I need to put it away for a while before I can get on it again. How are you guys? Do you have to finish one project before you start another? Or have multiples going on at once?

So....... the vintage lamp I got isn't really brass. The patina solution I got said it would patina real brass and copper.it didn't.

Sometimes I'm really good about totally finishing whatever I'm working on. Other times, ugh, I'll have 3 things going and it kinda annoys me.

Priscilla your doing soooo many projects your starting to make me feel guilty slacking on mine. Those sconces came out so great! I love how you made those drips!

Ann your ceiling medallion looks so sparkly and fun! I love that little stand to the left of your table, it Los a little distressed. Love the lines of it too!

I like to have a bunch of things going on at once. Trust me, I'm not that ambitious. I'm actually pretty lazy and it's hard for me to get going and get in the mood. True artist maybe? LOL But I actually don't like to call myself an artist. I feel it sounds kinda pretentious or show off-y. I for sure don't feel like an artist. Most of the time I'm sitting at the computer. =/

I dunno, what do you guys think? Ann, I know you paint. Do you think you are an artist or it's more of a hobby. I think if I was a real artist I would have to be able to make my living off it. Now it's just a hobby and every once in a while I sell something.

With my paintings, omg, I always have btwn 3-6 going at any one time...partly bc I may need to step away from one to get some fresh/different perspective. Then I have some that sit there for months on end bc I'm just stuck with where they're at...those frustrate me.

No, I don't think it's pretentious at all to call yourself an artist - not at all. It's just a descriptor of part of who you are, part of what you do. Like a doctor is still a doctor even if they just do it part time or whatnot. I think it's super hard and the ultimate in vulnerability to create something from nothing and then be willing to share that created thingy w/ people, and have it judged.

Van Gogh didn't make a living off his art...but, he's most definitely an artist, lol! This is true of most artists, who may not make a living off of their art but are artists to their very core.

Bought some gorgeous bougainvilleas for my entrance / courtyard - aren't they just purdy!!?? I love bougainvilleas so much. Got them at Home Depot.

They do look gorgeous and set off the entrance so nicely. Look even prettier when they spread around and are on full color.
