I was thinking about making a sign like that, and I love dogs. (That dog's poop weighed more than Prince, but in this case, size doesn't matter.)

| I gotta say I understand exactly where this person is coming from. My lawn seems to be the communal toilet! The property beside us is county owned so everyone brings their dogs there. However, they don't keep them from wandering onto our property. Getting to my mailbox is like wading thru a land mind. It gets pretty frustrating to constantly clean up after other animals.

| There are a number of those signs in our neighborhood. I'll have to try to snap a picture of one...they had a wrought iron lawn "ornament" of a dog in pooing position with the verbiage "No Poop!" Its about 8 inches tall...very fancy |

| I get annoyed by people who don't pick up after their dogs. I live in an apartment and so does my best friend. We help each other out if one is working late to let the other's dog out. My best friend's community, just had a flea outbreak and many owners don't pick up after their dogs. And that community provides poo bags and nice dog runs. There is one neighbor their who put a sign out in front of her apartment that says " Don't stop here if you don't pick up after your dog". In big bold letters! I don't blame them either because no one wants nastiness where they live. I don't think that person is a dog hater, just dog owner annoyed. |

| I usually know when a dog is entering our yard-space by the babies barking up a storm. I go to the front window and watch. If they are leaving poop without picking it up I open the front door and ask them if they are going to pick it up. They usually pick it up and after that I usually see them crossing the street to avoid my yard. If I am at the park and see someone leaving their dog poo without picking it up I will offer them one of my poop bags. They usually get mad and say no thanks and move on anyway but I think they are embarassed about leaving it. Hopefully they will think about picking it up next time. There are people who park their cars at the park, open the door and let their big dogs out to poop. After the job is done the dog hops in the car and they leave. It makes me crazy when people won't pick up after their dogs because little toddlers and babies play in that park and I hate thought of them (or anyone) stepping in a pile of poo. If I am picking up our own poop I will sometimes pick up other poo that is close by. I wish people would be more considerate of others.

Donating YT 4000 Club Member | You'd be amazed at how this issue can flame out of control in neighborhoods. In my last subdivision, the board had to close the discussion boards because one neighbor would literally list each and every time one of his neighbors dogs would come poop in his yard. It got to be a really heated exchange, and I swear some of the neighbors just started letting their dogs go over their to fan the fires, but man- it got ugly! Bottom line- be a responsible dog owner and clean up after your pup.

| OMG...even when I'm camping we pick up our dog poo on our site. Don't want to step in it. But when I take Bella for a walk and she just thinks she has to poo on someone elses campsite I get her on the gravel road. We horse camp and there's horse poo on the road everywhere so a few "tootsie rolls" are gonna be noticeable. |

| It's not just the poop neighbors have a right to be upset about. Urine kills the grass. I'd also be upset about burned out yellow spots from inconsiderate neighbor's dogs. Also, worms and certain diseases like parvo are shed in dog feces. Using your neighbor's yard for your dog's toilet can put your children and pets at risk. |

At agility trials, the dog owners are required to pick up their dog's poop, but that isn't the case at conformation shows, or it wasn't. I will never forget being at an indoor show and someone left a huge poop on the floor and numerous people stepped in it. I became a huge mess. I don't like cleaning up my own dog's poop, never liked mowing over it by accident and clean it up daily and always right before my yard guy mows, so you can bet I would prefer not to have to clean up after other people's dogs. Leaving poop is just filthy!

| My guess is they don't like the brown spots in their yard from other people's dogs. I respect that. After all they are the ones paying for the yard.

| Thanks everyone for your comments. Who knew the subject of cleaning up dog poop could be such an interesting topic? By-the-way I was walking on this street last night (without my girls, too hot) and some neighbors walking their dog started talking to me about this sign. (A sign like this is an unusual kind of thing for this neighborhood). They said they did not like the sign, but could understand the frustration about people not cleaning up after their dogs. Just wonder how long this sign will stay up?

Yorkie Yakker | I am considering posting a video monitoring sign for the person that walks his/her LARGE dog and uses our yard to go. I will threaten to enlarge the picture of the owner and post it in public places. I noticed now that the sun rises early there's no poop. Hey, just pick up the dang thing. |

| Frankie, my dog, goes on his pad in the house. My neighbors take their dog to poop at my mailbox every time. Not nice, huh? Do I say anything? No. Their dog is smaller than Frankie and it usually blows away, or dries up and gets sucked up in the mower when my guys cut the lawn. When the neighbors' big dogs dump in my yard, I DO say something. I ask, "Are you going to pick that up. Generally they say nothing and give me that glazed suburban stare. I have been so bold as to tell them if they find a human poop on their front stoop, it is mine. PS--I am not popular in my neighborhood.
