| This food can be found in the freezer section of a feed store. You can also look them up on line and may be able to order on line if you can't find it. There are also many other good quality raw diets out there to chose from. In reguards to the coughing is this something new? has he been around other dogs (strange dogs)? Maybe kennel cough? Has he been checked by a vet for the coughing? Collapsing trachea? I had a little yorkie that did this and she had a narrow trachea- did not collapse but whenshe would get excited this would be more pronounced. Another yorkie had a slightly enlarged heart and he would cough. Heratworm? THese are only thoughts and really should be checked out with a vet for a complete exam. It maybe an URI there are many possibilities. Hope that helps, Laura |

| Hi! I just wanted to add that if you go to their websites, they usually will list stores in your area that carry their products. I use Nature's Variety raw medallions. Another great one is Primal. We're huge fans of feeding raw (pre-made) and my guys love it!

| I was feeling a little blue today so I decided to read through more of the stories that I had missed. Feels so good to hear all the kindness and love here. Let's keep the stories coming. Anyone else like to share. I want to keep a smile on my face for the rest of today, tomorrow and all next week,

| rescued yorkies I have one full breed yorkie that came from a humane society. I named him Toto. He is one energetic little pup. I could enter him in a jumping contest and he would give everyone a good run for their money. Toto's previous family gave him up due to having too many dogs. So I guess I just inherited their blessing. I am not real sure of Toto's age because the papers the shelter gave me contradicted themselves. I do know that he's either 2 or 5 yr. Pretty sure he's closer to 2. My other dog, Barkley, was just adopted. The vet said that Barkley is yorkie/shih tzu. He had a rough start to his little life. Barkley was found wandering the streets covered in fleas. They estimated Barkley to be 12-17 weeks. He really wasn't responding or playing much when I got him. He seemed more lathargic (sp?) than anything. The vet said he had tapeworm and it took him about a week to bounce back to being a puppy again. He is still working on trusting me. But we are getting there! Last edited by Teaching Toto; 06-30-2009 at 12:46 PM. |

My dogs have recently had upper respiratory infection, funny they won't share toys but they will illnesses. Anyway, I tucked their meds into canned dog food and they don't hesitate to chomp it right down. I have also used cheese slices to fool them into taking pills. Both work great. I hope this helps. | |

| Our New Family Member Smokie We recently aquired a Yorkie. He was a rehome. He was advertised as a 5 month old puppy. Instead, after getting him home, we discover he is at least a yr old since he has his adult teeth. We will find out more when we take him to the vet for his check up next Thursday. Smokie came to us from a family with many small children, and a Great Dane. He also came with a crate. From what we were told, she had gotten him from another lady who claimed he had all his puppy shots and had been dewormed. But what can you believe but the vet in a situation like this. Poor little guy - his crate was filthy and had a flat very smelly stinky pillow in it. That was thrown away and the crate cleaned up and replaced with a good doggie bed. He minds very well. We train him with praise and treats. I use a natural jerky treat and when he is good, pottys outside, sits when i tell him, comes when i call him, or doesn't bark at neighbor dogs when we walk by, he gets a treat. He responds to this very well. I have a feeling he knows he has a home for good. He seems very happy here. The only problem we have is he likes to charge mom's cat. So I have contacted an obedience trainer to see if they can help me teach him not to charge the cat barking and growling. And Smokie too would rather play with Gracie's cat toys! I read that on here, so I guess its not just him. I know we are very happy to have him, he now has a good permanent home, and will be well cared for. We are very lucky to have found him. |

| I have 1 rescue, kind of, and one from one of those horrible puppy stores in the mall. So both are puppy mill puppies but healthy as could be. My Shilo came to me 3 years ago, I was actually in the process of adopting a dauschund when my mom called me and told me she had a yorkie for me. What happened was one of her friends lives next to a horrible puppy mill that specializes in yorkies and the dogs would get out and the owner wouldn't try to get them back! So my moms friend would rescue them and give them to good homes, Shilo was out on the streets for a week before she actually got ahold of her she was only 3.5lbs when I got her she's now almost 7. The poor thing didn't know how to bark or play or anything she was pitiful! But today you wouldn't even be able to tell of her past. Spike (the one in my picture) came from the pet store, I wasn't even planning on getting a dog that night, my husband was in Iraq and I was out shopping and just asked to see him. Well he was sick (big surprise) and so cute and helpless that he melted my heart and I bought him on the spot. Neither of my dogs are "show dog" material but I still love them with all my heart
