| My parents adopted/rescued a Yorkie mix in January. Her name is Annie and she was about 5-6 months old when they adopted her. Even the rescue group knew next to nothing about her. She'd been rescued from the pound and had worms and that's all they knew about poor little Annie. Now though she's a spunky tomboy, that likes to take toys and drag them across the house with her. My parents' bed is always full of toys because Annie drags them back there with her and then in the early morning (5am'ish) she'll wake up and play for a while before waking my parents up. She hassles my elderly 13 year old poodle, Sherry, because she always wants to play with her. My Mom has decided that Sherry's finally realized Annie isn't going anywhere and decided it's better to join her than fight her. So sometimes they play together. Though they're not YT members I always share the valuable YT knowledge with my Mom (good foods, step in harnesses, great toys, health things, etc.)Zoe met Annie for the second time in August and they became instant BFFs. The first time they met in February Zoe was not feeling Annie, she was too hyper for her. This time they were BFF all the way. After they were separated both girls went looking for the other! Anyway, though she's a Yorkie mix Annie's coloring is ALL Yorkie, but her hair ... she is permanently having a bad hair day. Attached is a picture of all 3 girls. Left to right: (The head of my boyfriend, Branden), 13-year-old poodle Sherry, Annie, and of course my baby Zoe. Sorry for Zoe's bad hair! I hadn't brushed her yet and honestly I had to give up trying to keep her in a top knot, since their playing always took it out.

| I guess you don't know what Annie is mixed WITH huh? She looks a lot like my "chorkie" (yorkie-chi) Pixel, so I was just curious. That was such a sweet story! Thanks for sharing ![]() Quote:

After our poodle, Dotty, died my Mom realized that the next dog she got was going to be a rescue that really needed her. Guess she found her match!

| Awww, such a sweet pic. I just love their outfits and bed (I'm a nut about animal print). It is so wonderful to how this thread keeps coming back with more & more happy stories. I think this is my #1 favorite thread.

| I am having trouble in that Nicky won't let anyone but me touch him. He has bitten two people who have tried to walk him when I am not home. He is absolutely petrified of people and doesn't like other dogs. I really feel a little overwhelmed. The rescue organization should have required him to go to a home as an only pet. I now have to come home everyday to walk him from work where before I had a dog walker. It's not just men, it's everyone who isn't me, including my daughters. Does anyone know if this can be corrected over time? Do I need to hire a trainer/behaviorist?? Prozac? Really need help. Can post in the training forum as well. I know he needs time, but depending on what happened to him in that other home (which no one will say), will this ever turn around?

| Donating YT 1000 Club Member | I watched a show on Animal Planet with Ceasar and he said fear is the hardest thing for a dog to overcome. He has a training he puts dogs through who have fear issues. You may contact a couple trainers to get an idea of some things you can try at home. You may also want to contact the rescue you got the dog from and tell them what is happening and you NEED to know any background info on the dog they can provide. Tell them you want to keep the dog and help him but you need their help or you may have to return the dog to them.

| Donating YT 1000 Club Member | I agree I have told many people that with our dog everything was baby steps in small increments. When it came down to it the biggest part was not the time involved it was the amount of patience it took/takes.

| We got Jackson when he was a year and half old. He had been sent by the breeder from Ontario to Saskatchewan as a small puppy to his new home. He ended up being sent back to the breeder when he was about five months old with a lame shriveled hind leg. The vets here said it looked like an injury that they didnt bother to take him to the vets and just let him suffer. When the breeder picked him up at the airport she then took him to the vet and he had to have the ball joint of his leg cut off . It was a 4,000.00 surgery paid for by the breeder including his rehabilitation . She then wanted to just find him a loving home.We only paid 400.00 for him after all the expense she went through shows how much she loved him. He is two years old now. He went through a lot as a baby and so he is very shy with other people but has come around a lot and is very loving with us and is good little guy. |

| Donating YT 500 Club Member | Zoe falls in between I told a friend I really wanted a sister for Guinness but didn't want to go the route of paying so much for him. He's the first NON rescue pet I've ever had. I love him but I knew that I'd not buy another, I'm all about rescue. Anyways, she knew someone who bred Yorkies who had a little girl that was 8 months old and didn't want her anymore She said she was free if I just wanted to drive up. It was a very long 8 hr drive there and back with my 5 and 6 yr old but when I saw her, my heart just melted. I was also freaked out because she was in the backyard with a HUGE pitbull dog and I'm TERRIFIED of large dogs. But she had him wrapped around her paw. She'd take off running and he'd chase her. She'd fall over and lay down, he'd lay beside her. And it went over and over again.Luckily that dog was no threat, my six year old actually pushed him out of his face and told him to stop it because he kept licking his face. NEVER will I ever be close to another dog like that, btw. I took her home and she's been the ruler of our home since ![]() I will always rescue in the future, they are just so full of love
