My chihuahua doesn't go outside to go potty, she uses a litter box. But when they are out of water she will go and ring the bell, it's funny how she started doing that, I cannot remember how I figured out thats what she wanted, it's been awhile since she first did it. I tried to litter box train Pennie, but she was so sick the first 4-5 weeks we had her and she was not interested in using the box. she did use it when we put her in it sometimes, and sometimes she used a potty pad. Now she goes outside, but poops in the house once in awhile. I just let them out a lot. But I don't see a need for my dogs to bark, because at this point if they really did have a good reason to bark I wouldn't know it.. to many false alarms..lol.. or "the boy who cried wolf"..hehe

| I ordered a dog bark repeller on Ebay and hope it works, Bailey is a angel at my place, but when we go to my boyfriends he completely changes and becomes a little barking demon I don't mind a little barking, that's normal, but when it's constant that is just plan irritating to the ears!

But I have had pretty good luck with teaching older dogs to ring it so you just might give it a try. there is a web site and the lady who makes these bells has a video and also gives directions how to train them to use it.. Welcome To Poochie Bells Training I like that I can change the ribbon too, great for the holidays. I have it hanging on my sliding glass door since that's the only way out to the back

I will admit, even though it doesn't always work for us, things have gotten better and I can sometimes just say "quiet" and they stop. Ripley, Kizzie and Mindy are the ones who usually start it. But now Candy has followed and will start it. and you know once one barks even just once, they all go running to the door like a pack of brats..hehehe. Oh and they ALWAYS run to the side door off the kitchen. So at least they run away from where we are when they do it. But when Ripley hears Don coming (Dodge Ram) they go to the front door. Last night they started up 2 times really late while I was watching tv and both times I said quiet, and I was shocked that they quit so fast and came back to lay down. They were expecting my son.. He was not home before midnight so I sent him a text and told him to stay wherever he was, he wasn't happy but I am not having him come in at 1-2am and getting those dogs going nuts while my husband is sleeping. I warned him many times that just because he is 21 doesn't mean he can come and go as he pleases. Ok, thats a whole other rant there..lol

I ♥ Joey & Ralphie! Donating Member | You'll be less stressed too! I'm still loving mine, after using it a couple of weeks. I've even used mine when Joey is in another room and barking up a storm at one of the dogs he saw in the park, and I was on the phone. One quick touch of the Repeller, and he stopped barking and came to me and just sat there. I wish I had given him a treat; he was so good. I'll have to keep some treats handy because I think this would best be used with positive reinforcement.

| I received my bark repeller today and holy cow this thing works! Bailey only barks at my bf's place when he is around my bf's 2 dogs and he barks like crazy in the car. I used it once at my bf's and all the dogs stopped barking immediately, when I was leaving to go home, I put Bailey in his car seat and right away he started barking, so I used the repeller before I got in the car and drove off and Bailey did not bark the whole way home!, I was totally amazed and kept telling him what a good boy he was!! I just hope it doesn't hurt their little ears to much, I'm keeping my fingers crossed that it will only have to be used occasionally!

My only concern is If you use this for the barker what happens to the dog that is not barking. I was gonna try it for Daisy but I didn't want it to bother Pixie if she isn't barking. So confusing.............

| I'm so glad it worked out for you and Bailey! I still haven't bought this but I may wanna have it around. The only times Jackson barks bad is when someone knocks on the door or a stranger comes in the door. It'd be nice to have a tool to help me out so I can get to the pizza guy, etc, in peace. AND for when we visit over at my dads house making 3 dogs total and 2 cats and it can get a bit crazy over there.
