Thanks for the post! I'm just ordered it from Amazon, for $12 it's definitely worth a shot! Kimchee is an agresssive barker when we're out, often times trying to attack VERY large dogs (he obviously doesn't know is own size!). I agree that a dog should be able to bark to alert, as is his instinct, but not if it's to his detriment. Hopefully this will work!

The very first try and I was AMAZED! The next door neighbors have 2 pugs that are the most annoying dogs ever. They are let out into the yard and the bark their heads off while my 3 totally lose their minds running the fence and also barking. It's total insanity when all 5 dogs are out barking and running. I've seen this thread pop up many times but I never opened it until today. This post sounds just like a scene at my house, so when I read how well it's working for all of you I had to order one. Can't wait until it gets here!!

Mine came today and so far it is working on minor stuff. The real test will be when my Hubby comes home and they get really loud.

How an Ultrasonic Dog Repeller Works

So far it is working. When they bark I press the button and say quiet, they stop barking. I will also be working with them this weekend. I would assume this would work in any way a training aid would work. So you could train your dogs to only bark when it is necessary. I did also find this article when I did some research on it before purchasing it.

After reading all the reviews on Amazon and here I went ahead and ordered it for Kiko, I have tried it and instead of making him stop barking he barks even more !!!!
I can see by his reaction that he is aware of the sound but he starts barking more... I need a good solution for my barking boy, love him tons but the barking is driving us crazy!!!

How are you using it? How far away from him are you, and what are you saying?

I just was reading this article you posted and notice the line at the end of the second paragraph says "scientific tests have shown that this noise is not very painful and will not cause more than momentary discomfort when the button is pressed." I wonder if that is any cause for concern? Lolli has suddenly stop responding to it but I can tell she still hears it. Is it possible she might be getting a bit 'too' discomforted by this noise if perhaps she has sensitive ears or something? It still seems odd how they worded it to say "not very painful" instead of saying something like "not painful at all". Just a food for thought. Even I use the device still in hope she will begin to respond someday but maybe I will consider this a bit more.

I've thought about this too, and what I think is that it is an annoying or startling sound that gets their attention somewhat like to us if someone blows a whistle or sounds a siren or alarm, makes ya stop what you are doing and not want to do that again cause the sound is irritating. I do think you should not over-use it as the dog will get used to it and ignore it. Just my opinion.

If you look at all the reviews online for this product it gets around 3 stars.

Lets face it, It just doesn't work on all dogs and those dogs it doesn't help we have to find another way. I am still trying to find that other way with Pennie.

it has absolutely NO effect on her and she is driving me nuts. She ONLY barks when one of the other dogs has something she wants!! little brat..lol..

But this can go on and on all day long. And like right now is her worse time. I am up very late every night and she starts this around 11ish or when I go on the computer at night (never when I am on it earlier).

I know it hurts MY ears.. Not every time I use it but most of the time. I have severe hearing loss but I can hear really high pitch sounds that nobody else can hear and it hurts, makes me dizzy too..

My puppy's name is Kimchee too! She also has the same problem... barking at the big dogs. Crazy little baby!

It worked great for Bandit who is a very aggressive barker!!! Oddly enough it's not as effective with Nala but the pennies in a can are, but she's not a big barker.

I posted a couple of weeks ago...no more barking, we say quiet after the first "alarm us bark" and there is silence. We used the repeller at most less than 5x! This product worked for our 2 yorkies and our lab!
