barking problems resolved Bark Repeller
 

OK, this is the end of the barking problem posts. Go to Amazon.com and order the Pet Parade Bark Repeller. I can't imagine any dog barking more than Henry, but when the vet told me to get a shock collar for him, I thought I would look on YT first. (I was reluctant to get the shock collar, but we are at the end of our leash with this little guy). I had read about the bark repeller before, but was foolish enough to not buy it. This thing is only $10.00, and is worth it's weight in gold!!!! So, I could have saved the $70 I spent on the trainer who did NOTHING for us but tell us he is neurophobic (afraid of everything). Really, this thing does work and I have told my coworkers about it too. I tried EVERYTHING before this, pennies in a can, dog whistle, squirt bottle. This thing works!!! Good Luck, it saved our little family!! The neighbors can drive past the house, walk past, talk to us, and Henry acts like they aren't even there!

So what's gonna happen when he needs to bark to tell you something? he's gonna be afraid to do it.

I have not seen this device before. I'm glad it's worked for you. My only concern would be how aversive it is - it's advertised as something you can use to keep hostile dogs away, so it sounds quite powerful. I hope you are using it as directed - it says not to use it within a foot of your pet. Also, at this point, you should probably not have to use it anymore - saying Quiet should be sufficient if it's done its job.

I'm not a professional dog owner by any means, but I'm not a stupid one either. I know the difference between when my dog needs to tell me something, and when he justs wants to bark for ABSOLUTELY no reason!!!. I didn't say I would NEVER let him bark again!!! If I wanted to do that, I would have him debarked!!!! We rescued both of our yorkies, 1 pure bred, one a mix. We love them to death but the barking is ridiculous.

Did you see that I hired a professional trainer??? I tried everything under the sun to get him to stop before I tried the bark repeller !!!!!

Did you see that I didn't go with my vets advice and get a bark collar for him????

The air must be VERY THIN up on that high horse you are sitting on !!!!!

I did tell you, IT WORKS!!!

I bought one a while back and it has helped. Cali and Roxie stop barking when I use it and Pixie stops but starts again. After the first few times of using it they became less bothered by it so I really don't think it hurts them. I too would never use anything that would hurt my babies but their barking is out of control sometimes.

I was going to post a thread about my dogs and their HORRID constant out of control barking until I saw this thread so I am jumping in!

I have a cocker, a cockapoo, and 2 yorkies that are driving me absolutely INSANE! They start as soon as they get up in the morning until evening IF I am lucky! Once my husband and son are home they pretty much stop.

I cannot take all my dogs to obedience training or afford a trainer for them all. Lately it is so much worse. Right now my cocker Hanna is the worse, she will not stop, same with Mindy the larger yorkie I have. My head is killing me right now!

I have shock collars and have used them but I can't put one on every dog I own and especially the little ones. By the way, we have tested them on ourselves and they do NOT hurt, it is a static shock collar so it is like walking across the carpet, surprises ya but doesn't hurt. We did it on our bare skin, they have fur so they barely feel it. but I haven't used it in awhile because it is more then one dog.

This thing your talking about, I am going to try it, I cannot take this any more. My god they bark at NOTHING!!!

I don't know why it has gotten worse either.

as soon as they bark the sonic sound should come out of it. you can place it on your floor but the door or window were ever your dark is barking the most. it is my next purchase. I am not fast enough with the remote one and she sometimes just bark right back at me...lol:)
I am happy it worked for you this method is WAY safer then a shock color you are right ;)

First, of course I love my little girl. She has saved my life after a terrible year. But...the bark repellar didn't work for me. Sydney still barks at nothing. I had also bought one for my mother-in-law to use with her Shi Tzu...made her dog bark more. The only thing that has worked for me is a water bottle. I make a sound and squirt. She gets the message quick. Eventually, I hope to just have to make the noise. If she barks at the door, I let her go. If she barks at a noise outside, I let her go. It's her behavior of barking in the car while she's in her car seat and barking at objects on the wall that needs to change.

I believe I may have been the one who suggested this to you , it doesnt hurt the dog at all and it doesnt prevent them from barking at things they are supposed to bark at!! People I know who have it, barely have to use it any more just pick it up and aim and thier dogs shush right away, its 10 dollars and well worth it!!

I had purchased this from Amazon before Christmas. It uses a 9v battery and I kept forgetting to purchase one. After reading this, I got the battery. I WAS AMAZED! I have tried the pennies in a can, my Maddie just barked louded to make sure she was heard over the noise. I tried ignoring her... didn't work. Tried the water in a squirt bottle, this worked to some extent, but I will admit I am lazy. We live in town and when it is a nice day, especially weekends, a lot of people walk on our street or ride bikes. This is TOTALLY unacceptable to my Maddie. Evidently the street in front of our house is her street. Anyway, getting up to go into the other two rooms with windows that she can bark in front of everytime someone walked by was driving me nuts!!! again.... lazy..:rolleyes:

Anyway, put the battery in and waited. Kids walking by, my Maddie goes nutso barking. One quick press on the "controller" and she stops barking and looks at me like wth was that? I say "quiet" and then "good girl" "good quiet". She never started barking again. Next time someone walked by, same thing. I was amazed. It has been raining this week so I haven't been able to use this again, but with the weekend coming up, we shall see. So far, I am cautiously optimistic.

My only question would be how it would work to scare away another dog coming at you while out for a walk with your baby, cause yes, the other dog will hear the noise, but so will your furbaby...

Edited to say: it did not seem like it "hurt" her at all, just seemed like it surprised her, she looked around to me and cocked her head.

Well I got mine today and put a 9 volt in it and waited...LOL.. Don's friend came by and I used it and said "quiet". Everyone quit barking except Mindy. However she only barked a little. each time she made a sound I used it and gave command, it did work. Figure a few more times and she might stop for good.

It seems to work on some of the dogs and not at all on a couple others. the 2 youngest ones didn't seem to hear anything. It has my cockapoo Ripley and yorkie Kizzie, freaked out! They hid, and Kizzie it made her shake.

This thing has very short range. I couldn't get any of them to respond when I let them outside and they were going nuts barking at another dog. NO effect at all and I wasn't about to go out in the rain so I stood on the deck, I was maybe 20 feet away, still no effect.

However I think it will help A LOT for the constant barking at nothing all day like they have been doing.

This might be helpful over at my dad's house... they have 2 barking dogs and when I bring Jackson over there, it turns into 3. When all 3 are together, it's just ridiculous. I may have to purchase this for over there. It'd be a real test for their Jack Russell though, who hasn't cared about squirt bottles or cans, whereas Jackson and their other dog don't like being told to be quiet and obey, LOL. It may be worth the $10! The only time Jackson barks when he's by himself is when someone walks in the door, so maybe it would help with that too.

Many years ago I had a friend with a small mixed breed dog that barked non-stop at everything and everyone. It was horrible and even after hiring several trainers nothing worked and she was finally evicted. She ended up being evicted again because of that neurotic dog. It finally had a heart attack or stroke or something and died. She would have saved herself and her dog a lot of expense and problems if only something like this was on the market back then. I'm sure there are still many other dogs like that out there these days too! Thank you for sharing! ;)

It sounds to me like that dog had a serious anxiety problem. Anxiety may manifest itself in barking. Stopping the barking in that case would probably not address the real problem, which is that the dog is constantly stressed, which is very bad for physical health.

I have not used these devices, but please, do use caution with them. The first amazon review I read described how a man stopped a big, nasty dog in his tracks with one press of the button - so at least some people are using these AGAINST dogs, which means they must be very powerful.

Please also remember that if your dog is very anxious, you need to address the anxiety, and not its annoying side effects. Not saying that everyone who posted here has an anxious dog, just maybe think twice. Maybe the dog needs more exercise or training. For instance, a dog who barks at the window all the time - I would close the curtains every time she barked. She would probably get the idea pretty quickly that if she wants to see outside, she needs to be quiet. Or a dog who barks when there's company around - banish the dog until he's quiet! He'll get the message.

Again, not saying I know for sure, I'm not there!
