| I need some honest advice please. My beloved Dixie was killed today. I am absolutely devastated. She was only 6 months old and we went out of town for about a week. Our breeder that we bought her from pet sits, so whenever we go out of town, we leave her with her. Well, she was about to bring her home and was carrying her to her car and Dixie jumped out of her hands and ran in the street and was hit by a car. She died immediately. I understand that accidents happen. I honestly do. But of course this was my baby, so I am totally devastated. Dixie was the sweetest thing ever and I am hurting so bad to have her back. I don't even want to think of another dog at the moment. Dixie was everything a dog could ever be-and she can't be replaced. But I can't get something out of my head. The breeder said to me "I will sell you another dog for half off." Here I was being so super understanding-and she first of all brings up another dog, and then offers it to me for half off? Am I being unreasonable to think that she might offer me another dog from a future litter? If I am, please just tell me. I don't even care right now, I just want my Dixie back. I just can't believe it. I am so in shock. I know accidents happen, so I am not mad at her, but I don't know what to think. Any thoughts? |

Donating YT 14K Club Member | How horrible!!!! I am so sorry that this happened to you. The only advice I can give you is to take your time. Allow yourself to heal completely before you buy a rebound dog. Best wishes!

| I am so very very sorry. This is so awful, by heart aches for you. It wasn't the right time for the breeder to bring it up, but really she probably just didn't know what to say and the wrong thing came out. She probably feels so bad too and would like to do something to make it right, and this is the awful thing that popped out of her mouth. Again, I am so sorry for you loss.

| Thanks everyone. I am just devastated. I will keep reading the responses to this thread, but I doubt I will be around much otherwise. It is SO hard to see pictures of little precious yorkies when my baby is gone. |

| What a horrible thing to happen. I am so sorry for your loss. As for the breeder, I think she should have given you some time to accept what happened and grieve a little before she even mentioned another dog. I can't imaging how much you must be hurting right now. Hugs and prayers to you and your family. |

| My heart breaks for you! I don't know how I would react in that situation and no matter how you feel or what you write, it comes from your heart and that's never wrong. I'm sure the breeder is feeling horrible too and blaming herself for the accident. Take your time in healing. You will know when you are ready open your heart to another puppy. When the time comes, call the same breeder. I'm certain she will be more than happy to hear from you and it would help both of you heal from your terrible loss. My prayers are with you.

| I am so very sorry for your loss. Tears are streaming down my face. I cannot imagine your pain and sorrow. Allow time to grieve and heal.... Please please know that you have a huge family here that knows the pain of losing a Yorkie baby. We are here for you..... About the comment the breeder made.....it is possible that she, too, is hurting and something stupid just slipped out of her mouth. Shock and grief makes us say things sometimes that we wouldn't ordinarly say. |

Yorkie Kisses are the Best! Donating Member | OMG That's horrible ! I'm so sorry....That's just awful to hear Bless her heart - and yours too - I know you must be wanting to take back time and have your Dixie back with you. At the risk of sounding insensitve - did that breeder really feel bad ? I know she must have felt guilty... but my God - to talk about selling you another ???? She should be GIVING you another ...and trying to make another sale when she was solely responsible for the well being and safety of YOUR puppy is a bit coldhearted in my opinion. and as far as being upset - you're a bigger woman than I am - I realize accidents happen - but have a hard time understanding how someone who pet sits can let something like that happen. Sorry....I know you're hurting and dont want to make you feel worse. But in time ...if you think another puppy will help fill the void in your heart ....I think the breeder owes it to you to do all she can to help you....If it weren't for her ...you'd still have your Dixie. I'm really really sorry for your loss. Your Dixie sounds like she was very loved ...& she is just adorable in your avatar......my heart goes out to you.

| First and foremost, I am so sorry for the loss of Dixie. I can tell that she was truely loved. Ok, I will be completely honest with you and its my opinion so here goes... If I were in your position, I would totally be mad at the pet sitter even though - yes mistakes do happen but you really can't help it but to place blame. you know that you SHOULDN'T be mad at her but sometimes you can't help it. On top of letting go of your dog, since she's a breeder that you buy from. she should've offered you a free pup IF you wanted one. Out of all people, she should know how it feels to lose a dog. I'm not saying my opinion is right but I'm being completely honest.
