I am so very very sorry. This is so awful, by heart aches for you.
It wasn't the right time for the breeder to bring it up, but really she probably just didn't know what to say and the wrong thing came out. She probably feels so bad too and would like to do something to make it right, and this is the awful thing that popped out of her mouth.
