| it should be the same at the whole lenghth. when i close mines it closes straight and flat all the way across. i agree that chi is one of the best of not theee best. i bought a paul mitcheel since my sis in law is training at the paul mitchell school for hair, and so i listened to her and bought the starightner and the hair shampoo and comditioner and products, uhhh its so gross the starightner just gets way to hot and doesnt really starighten the hair, it flattens it but its not paper thin like me last starightner would do, and the shampoo makes my hair feel oily so i went back to the salon and they said use less, and i use less and it feel like buildup and i havent washed my hiar for days. so it just sits there. i love chi though i also had a cricket one and it worked great but when my hair was shorter. as it got longer it didnt starighten well

| it shouldn't be a work out to get it to hold the hair. It should be pretty flat and stiff so the heat is evenly distributed. When i straighten my hair i pull in sections, and kind of lift the hair with a brush or comb and then slide the straightener down the hair. And def. use the spray on protectors before. it won't way the hair down and it does help protect. Sounds like that seller might have ripped you a little bit. Research the Chi. They start about 100 and go up, but i had the CHi turbo and it didn't really do anything better than the base line Chi model. I promise, this thing does wonders. i am not a fan of the sleek line or paul mitchel. I found a brand called LANZA that is awesome for keeping hair healthy with all the damage done. Trust me, i like color and this stuff has kept my hair awesome. Also, some stuff called HALO something i believe, i started using is pretty good. |

| i have wanted a chi for the longest time, but i've done some research and found that the nano is great. it should close the same throughout when closed. Katie B is my friend (not the person you purchased it from). She is a makeup artist and hair stylist and if you were to see some of her work you'd be amazed. she is the reason why im going to get this one and not the chi. i've been to a lot of makeup forums, even when i had my own and a lot had said the chi is a great iron, but not the best of the best. i think you should check out KatieB's products (especially the faux lash mascara!).. and she's real nice, if you want you can ask her how to use the flat iron. i don't want you to think that the nano is crap, because it's not. i don't know who you purchased it from on ebay, but are they just reselling the item? if you decide to ask Katie, let us know what she says.. www.katiebco.com |

| To use a flat iron you need to section the hair. in smaller sections. Start at the bottom and work up if you have a spay protecter like sleek look by matrix. sspray a lite mist on each section as you go. And go over the section at least three times. use firm pressure and keep the Iron moving. when the section is stright move on to the next. If you need any other advice let me know. |

| Thanks! I want that Mascara - but it still says that it is sold out I will keep checking though...Oh, I don't think this Silver Nano is crap...I do like it. I want to watch the DVD so I can figure out how to curl my hair. It does really well with giving me some root lift and root volume! So that in it self is really cool. I have staright hair already and was planning on using for a typical straightener. I have just never seen a flat iron before, so I was sure if this one was defected in any way. The two plates have a tiny bit of play in them. When I close softly - the end plates touch but there is a very small gap in the middle and end near the handle. (Meaning - if I were to put the end of a strand of my hair in the middle of the iron and softly close, my hair would slip out). BUT - If I just hold a little firmer, the two plates touch and clamp tight. The seller told me that this is correct, that the plates have a little play in them, but when closed tight they are even. I could just be a 'dummy' when it come to this stuff. Maybe, I should go to the store and check out the flat iron to see if they to have some 'play in the plates'. Anyway here is where I bought the flat iron from: http://cgi.ebay.com/SUPERSTAR-Silver...QQcmdZViewItem I paid $84.99 + $13 (shipping). He sells alot of stuff and has lots and lots of positive feedback, so I don't think he sold me something bad??? It came all sealed up in the original box, etc... I don't know - hahahahaha |

| it looks to me like the one you bought is working like it is made to work. Both of my daughters have a Chi and they are super but this one looks nice as well. I do know that you do have to apply "pressure" to get the smooth finish.. good luck! P.S. I got both of the Chi's for $89.00 from discountbeautysupplies.com..... they are the basic models but I have been told the more expensive ones are not any better....

| Quote: How to create curls: It's easy. Think of curling a ribbon. You have to hold your scissors at an angle and then pull the ribbon through. Same with the straight iron. 1) Comb your hair 2) Take a section of hair (probably 3/4 by 3/4 of an inch) 3) From the root of your hair (don't have to be very close to your scalp), place the straight iron at an angle and then pull your hair through in ONE MOTION. Don't stop midway b/c if you do you will get a kink. NOTE: The more of an angle you have the straight iron blade, the curlier your hair will be. It takes a few tries before you'll be able to master this. Please do not get frustrated the first few times around. Kindly let me know if you have any other questions by contacting me at katie_b_cosmetics@hotmail.com! Thanks! My apologizes if I have rewritten the answer. I didn't get a chance to finish reading this thread! xoxo-Katie B. www.katiebco.com | |

| We have the Paul Mitchell one. I paid $127.00 for it. Make you the one you get has real ceremaic. If not it will really damage your hair. Make sure a use a spray with it too. I like the icon one from Sallys. I've got the Sallys flat iron too, but it damaged my daughters hair. My daughter uses the Paul Mitchell one everday with the spray and her hair is great. We love it...put in on 350" I've attached some pics...as you can see she likes taking pics of herself...lol |

| I use a HAI ceramic straightener. It cost about $100 but has lasted for over 2 years. It doesn't sound normal if you have to apply extra pressure, there should be even pressure all around. I don't have to apply any pressure to my straightener and my hair is very thick and frizzy. And katie B...thanks for the curling hair tip! I use your faux lash mascara and I always get compliments!
