| O.K. I"m gonna have to just do it. HOw do I take off the winter pounds.. Actually the last 4 winters worth of pounds lol..I can't afford to go out and buy a bunch of fancy diet foods. So what is important for me to STAY away from and what CAN I eat? For example can i or can't i eat these things..pasta, beef, chicken, breads, eggs, cereals, milk, cheese, Mt.dew (i love my pop) vegetables with butter....ok now i'm sure your gonna tell me most of that is bad..but i need to know what i can eat without starving. I tend to eat alot at night out of boredom. NOw that its warm i'm not eating as much. But I've GOT to do something. All I want to lose is bout 25 pounds and i'd be happy. Any help would be appreciated thanks..

| I wish that I was as discipline as my mother. She is doing weight watchers and has lost 14 lbs in about 2 months.. I'm really proud of her.. Does anyone else do that??? Pasta and Breads (at least white breads) are BIG no-no's... For your soda you should at least switch to diet.. That';s my two cents.. LOL Now with that being said I wish I could practice what I preach.. LOL Last edited by DaisyMaesMom; 04-19-2006 at 12:44 PM. |

| I don't think that caffeine free will really help... I believe that it still contains all the sugar.. However, you will get use to diet and then won't be able to drink anything else.. LOL That's how I am. I go to McD's... Quarter Lber and large fries with a DIET DRINK... LOL They must be like yeah, right lady! |

| My mother is doing the South beach diet. Its not expensive, and she allready lost 10 lbs in 3 weeks! All you do is eat alot of fresh vegetables, And lots of meats, fish being really good for you (no breading). You can have SOME carbs, meaning bread, rolls and such, just make sure they are whole grain (not wheat,or white) but you have to watch how much carbs you eat. You cant eat alot of them. The fresher the vegetables the better,(not cooked) or at least not cooked all the way. They make your body work harder to digest ,witch in turn causes you to loose weight. Most of the carbs you eat are pretty much pre digested so your body doesent have to work so it stores them for energy for later (fat) that most of the time never gets burned off. My mother cant exercise becouse she has emphisima and asma please excuse the spelling.lol!.So I bet that if you added exercise to this diet the pounds would just melt away!! I hope this helps. Ps. you can get the South Beach book at wal-mart the small version for like $6.97. |

| Oh! I almost forgot, If you can change your Mt DEW to Crystal Light. It tastes just like cool aid. A lady that I met at the salon told me that she lost 40 lbs! just by switching from regular pop to Crystal light alone! No diet! My moms doing that too. Its working for her. Shes doing it with the South beach Diet. |

| Drink lots of water , lots and lots , If this is hard for you you can use these tips 1,try early morning drinking 2.try drinking the water using a straw 3.try room temp water 4 .try lemon in it 5. try drinking bottled water ..so you can keep track easy of how much your drinking Oh and for snacking try popcorn or a bowl of cereal that is giving you alot per portion I like honey nut shredded wheat you get one cup serving size . Good luck to you ..I will be thinking of you as i drink my water and walk the walk to a healthier lifestyle .

I could stand to loose a few pounds myself too,but all I have personally done so far is switch from the diet Pepsi to the Crystal light actually the equate version, I just like the taste better.lol and of course drinking Alot of water. I havent done too bad,I've lost 5 lbs in 3 weeks, just from that. But I am thinking about doing the South Beach too just to take it off a little faster.

| Thanks you guys so much. I"m going to get the book. My biggest problem is i'm so used to cooking down home cooked meals. Fried chicken mashed potatoes with gravy, mac and cheese corn and green beans..thats one of the meals i cook each week. So i'm totally lost on what to cook that everyone will eat. I know I can bake the chicken and that will help but i'm so used to cooking starches and pastas i don't know what to replace that with. I guess just vegetables right? I will def try the crystal light too. I know i'm addicted to the caffeine in mt dew but i also know i didn't used to be so i can break myself of that. I really want to lose the weight. I"m tired of feeling down on myself. I joke about my weight in front of people but cry when i'm alone. I know i'm not that big yet but each year i keep getting bigger.

I know what your talking about when you say down home cookin. We cook like that too. Having 3 kids makes it even harder to diet, dont get me wrong ,I loooove my kids, but it really sucks if your dieting and you walk in the kitchen and one of them has a totinos pizza in the oven, or the husband surprises you with dairy queen! Sometimes I think they do it to me on purpose just to see if I have the willpower to withstand.lol So really thats why I havent went on the diet yet. Husband is not good at supporting. But if you have a good support system it should work for you. For this moment I'm taking babysteps tho LOL!! GOOD LUCK!!

| Oh My Goodness Do We Have The Thread For You!! http://www.yorkietalk.com/forums/showthread.php?t=26811 YOU MUST check the thread above out! In January this year some of us here on YT began a weight loss club! Before we were done (I had other committments and had to stop keeping statistics) the club had lost a LOT of weight together! The title of the thread SHOULD have been "The Healthy Eating For Life Club"! Think about this: TRULY you ARE what you EAT! If you eat a lot of fatty food, what happens to your body? If you don't get any exercise, any calories you take in that you do not burn get STORED by your body as fat. Check out the thread. IT IS NOT about "dieting". It is about adopting a healthy eating life style. Ask Teri88 what it has done for HER! She will be thrilled to tell you! GOOD LUCK to all who are trying to lose weight! I am there for you if you need me! I lost 45 pounds by changing the way I eat for a life time. It's a habit now, and I love it. I am not deprived, I eat like a pig, and it's all home made. OK off the soap box! Check the thread!
