I know what your saying i have 3 teens and a 3 year old. Plus i was raised on that type of food. Not to mention we are a family of 6 with one income. I breed dogs but all that money goes back into them. It's sad but eating healthy is really expensive. I plant a garden but last year lost most of it due to lack of rain then too much rain. This year i'm putting in another of course and hopefull the weather obeys me lol...but it's crazy that healthy food cost so much while food that will kill us is so cheap. So how do I eat healthy and still be thrifty? I am going to plant some apple and peach trees. Last year i planted Blackberries and rasberries and this year i'm also planting a strawberry batch and i always plant watermelon and cantelope..so given the weather doesn't mess up my garden that will help..
As far as my husband goes..all the other times i tried to diet he didn't know weather to support me or tell me not to..i was highly emotional cause i was starving ALLL the time and I was horrible to be around. Thats why i want to eat healthy AND lose the pounds..so I came to you all...lol..

I got a diet off the internet called the Idiots diet, or something like that. I lost the weight that I wanted to and kept it off.

But just as you said Glad, it's changing the way you eat for life that makes the difference.

Get used to diet pop or water, once you make the switch you'll get used to it. Totally cut out the fried foods. We have an occasionl treat of French Fries, but do not fry anything at home. An added benifit, your kitchen stays a whole lot cleaner.

For snacks its pretzels or popcorn or fresh fruit, cut out the fritos and potato chips. Eat more often with smaller portions. Eat more fresh fruits and vegetables. Many raw fruits and vegetables are negative calorie foods, which means you burn more calories digesting them than what they contain. I thought that was pretty cool.

Now this may seem odd, but my sister is always experimenting, trying to make foods taste better, yet she is trying to lose weight. I laugh and ask her why she wants it to taste better, she'll just want to eat more. So another good way to lose weight, is learn to be a worse cook.

Eating healthy just means making healthy choices. Don't fry something, grill it or broil it. Choose healthy substitutions, low fat or fat free milk, cottage cheese, sour cream. Stay away from sweets (that saves you LOTS of money, lol), eat lots of veggies and fruit, (if you can't buy fresh, buy frozen without a lot of added salt or sugar). Read your labels. Pick up 6 different choices, read all the labels, and choose the one with the best nutrition. Eat whole grains. Avoid white flour. You can shop and not spend any more money than you would on un-healthy choices. I know you can. You just have to be committed to trying. YOU CAN DO IT!!

Jeanie, you completely crack me up!! But you have GOT it, girlfriend! You just have to make the right choices! Really, it is NOT about deprivation, it's just another learning process.

I do bake alot but it's usually pork chops smothered in BBQ sauce lol..
what i mean about cost more..is I Have an alloted amout each week to spend on groceries and I don't buy junk food..we do buy popcorn peanuts and fruit..But I also buy alot of pork and hamburger cause it's cheaper than fish and chicken. I'm serious about this. I think my problem is I eat late at night..and lots of times it's stuff like a hot dog..or pasta..stuff that is fatening..so I know I need to quit eating late at night..I really appreciate everyone helping me out..thanks..I'm going to do this and i'm glad I have help..

It's hard to eat and type at the same time so just spend more time on YT.

Jeanie thats funny you say that because since i joined yt I haven't been eating as much lol..between that and it being warm outside. So that helps lol..
