| I have people ask me all the time how much Tucker and Sophie cost. I try to just blow it off, because I think that is totally rude and it is none of their business. If they persist, I usually tell them there is a range between pet quality and show quality and mine cost somewhere in the middle. They don't need to know an exact price-I worry too much as it is-so I would be worrying that they are going to follow me home and try to snatch them or snatch them right there in the store. I had a young girl 10-12 years old approach me in Petsmart a couple of weeks ago. She asked to hold Tucker, I told her she could, but I held the leash. She started to walk off with Tucker in her arms. I asked her what she was doing, she said she was going to take her over to show her mom and would bring him right back. I said absolutely not, and that she would have to bring her mom over to me. Needless to say, no mom and no kid came back. When I take my Mastiff out, people always ask how much she eats, and how much she poops. I feel like saying "How much do you poop on average??" aarrggghhh it drives me nuts!! For Yorkies being #1 in AKC popularity, you would think they are a rare breed with the way that people act when they see one! |

| Plane ticket to Hawaii...or a Yorkie When people ask me how much did I pay for Destiny my 3.5, 3 yr old Yorkie..I often avoid answering ,if a dog lover interested in the breed ,I tell them here to go online to view puppies just like her and advice the prices are more than your spare yearly pocket change ...and if they insist in knowing I say...I only know my husband gave me a lovely choice...a first class ticket to Hawaii or the puppy for Valentine's and our anniversary.Only a few people I know that price of $1400 and a tankful of gas,,supplies and Vet Bill...but that's because my son was then young and heard me once discuss the price with the breeder....Oh yeah I would love to go to Hawaii someday...but right know Im looking for a plane ticket to Paris...male puppy..but that one will have to wait a bit longer...would I change that for the quality and beautiful female I own today....never.! |

| People ask me the same questions also, I agree with a few people before me that said they wouldnt tell their family what they paid. I just tell my family that my boyfriends aunt breeds them and she gave her to us for a gift... My family just wouldnt understand... I would end up getting a huge lecture on how stupid I am for paying that much for a dog.... I dont care when people I dont know ask me how much... I usually tell them... I have had people ask me if i would sell her to them the most i was offerd was 5,000 cash for my little girl when this happens i respond with "DO YOU HAVE ANY KIDS" and when they say yes i say "would you sell your child to me?" and they say no then i say, well she is my child... sorry. lol I have also heard "rat dog" or alot of people say "omg she is so small she looks like a guinnie pig" This annoiys the crap out of me... The teacup thing I have just gotten plain burt out about... I hear this probably 5 or more times a day! Its gotten to the point where It dosnt bother anymore and when someone says "oh shes a teacup" my boyfriend and I just look at eachother and smile... The only time it really bothers me is when people who are supposed to be knowledgeable about dogs ask that dreaded teacup question... I was at the animal shelter today looking for a playmate for bailey we told the lady that runs the shelter that we would have to bring our yorkie back to help us pick out a dog and she said "oh is your yorkie a toy or just regular?" I was like OMG ALL YORKIES ARE TOY!!!!!! THEY ARE IN THE TOY CLASS!!! ahhh stupid people annoiy me... hah |

Me too. Some people have asked me mainly because they are interested in getting one themselves. I don't mind sharing then. Just the other day, I was walking Izzy and this girl was driving down the street. She was like "Oh he's so cute, where did you get him? Do you have the number? How much was he?" So she pulled over and I gave her my breeder's number. She was really nice I could tell she was not trying to be nosy or snobby. If other people ask being nosy I just tell them "enough". I hate the teacup comment too.

| Well Im pretty sure when I was younger I asked some lame a*s questions, and i grew up to learn about the breed and make an educated decision to purchase my baby. So I dont really mind because I take it as a compliment when they ask about my boy. I would be alittle annoyed if someone ask how much I paid for him, but not if they ask how old he is and how big he is. I mean we all are part of a yorkie forum! We love to talk about our dogs!

| My high school students were all very interested in my adoption of Gizmo, and I had to find a nice way to avoid an answer. I first explained that some people would be offended by that question, but that the price for Yorkies can range from several hundred to a few thousand. What's most important is that the puppy is from a reputable breeder and not a puppy mill, so if I have to pay more to guarantee that I would. Usually, this brings up a whole discussion of puppy mills and animal rescue and they forget the original question. If a student really seems interested and asks me privately later, I explain that he/she really needs to start saving money like I did. But I have never answered the question directly.

| I've had a lot of people ask me how much Teddi cost....I usually try to avoid the question but some times they catch me off guard and I don't know what to say so I tell them and usually they can't believe someone would pay that much for a dog. I do get stopped a lot and people ask me a lot of questions about her. If they are nice and seem genuine and are knowledgeable I give them the card for her breeder and tell them to contact them if they want one. I actully ran out of cards recently and had to have them send me more cards because people ask a lot. I think handing out the cards is a good idea because before I got her I stopped people a few times and they would tell me the website of where they got their dog but by the time I got home I couldn't remember it or didn't know how to spell it so I think it helps out!! |

| Some shabby looking man came up to me recently @ Petsmart as I was browsing the clothing racks for new couture and asked me "is that a DOG in there??!!" ((Daisy was in her carrier)) and I replied, "yes, shes a toy yorkie." He then said, "WOW!! she is so small. How much did you pay for it?" I seriously got this strange vibe that he was gonna steal her or something..the way he kept trying to touch my bag/the carrier..so I just laughed and walked..no ran..towards the front.. I thought that was the strangest encounter with anyone ever!!

i would have NEVER volunteered that info to him! i would have left it at "yes" that it was a dog. that is like when someone comments on my wedding ring and says how nice it is - i say "thanks" but i don't say "it's 2.5 carats!"
