| We are very private about money matters ... my standard answer is simply ... "Probably waaayyyy too much"!!!

| Good Morning! ......those sickening questions!! I think that we all seem to hear the same questions.... since Shelby & Seymour are on the "Teapot" side, I hear a little bit different story. I will hear .... "Are they Yorkies"?? "My friend has one but it is one of those expensive teacups"........ Yep, that will tick me off! I don't even respond to that one anymore. My husband said that he got sick of hearing "the speech"! I explained about teacups to one person a few weeks ago at the campground (this was on the Friday that we got to the campground)...... just before we left (2 days after she was asking all the questions), she told us she found a puppy and they were going to pick up her "teacup" on their way home..... it was 9 weeks old. OMG.. If someone don't understand enough about the breed to research and know the deal about "teacups" than they get what they get. ( a LOT of the internet breeders will advertise teacups and charge an arm & a leg for them, just because they are small. The fact that they could have terrible bloodlines or passed along health issues aren't even considered.) It is really hard to try to educate people who want a "little purse dog" but don't have any idea about liver shunt, hypoglycemia, collapsing tracheas, small dog/anesthesia...... and they don't want to. Don't worry, I don't plan on giving up telling people about Yorkies.... but their are some idiots out their....... most of the time you can tell who they are!!!! (those are the ones that I don't waste my breath on! ) OH!!.. I will always tell people what I paid for the dogs. Then maybe they will do a little more research before going out and buying one.

I also think it's rude that people ask how much a dog costs. I'd never ask someone that, and it's my business so I don't really care if I want to spend thousands on a dog...it's not their money!

| I usually answer, "a lot, but you can't put a price on perfection". If they press, then I give them a range of $800 to $3000.00. If it's family, I don't even do that. What really angers me is after I give the range, people ask "Can't I find one any cheaper than that?". I so want to answer a certain way. But, I hold my breath for a minute, then say something like, "well, you could try to find a Yorkie rescue".

| Yeah, I get that a lot, and if they seem to be truly interested in the breed. I'll tell them how much; I feel a lot of them are asking because after seeing my cute pups they want a Yorkie all their own, lol. The rat comment, I don't like at all. I might say that when they're wet, or whatever, but being affectionate to your own dogs is different than a complete stranger making a snide comment about a beloved pet.

| I love the "ohhhhhhhhhhh what a cute little ratdog......what did you pay?" Honestly I get more mature questions when young people stop me......even teenagers in some cases. Something like "that's a yorkie isn't it? I'd like one but they're very expensive" If people ask what I paid for Brandi I tell them she was a gift from my son. I don't ask someone how much their ring cost. in my paranoia I also make sure I make the statement "she's been spayed" just incase anyone would want to steal her for breeding...... | No one has ever asked me how much I paid for my Yorkie but I am ready for them if they do. I get nice comments on how pretty he is and they never saw such a large one. One person awhile ago asked me if that was a "Real Yorkie" and my response was, he's breathing so I guess he's real! I walked away. My comment would be if someone asked me how much I paid: I would say "Double" because of his size. Give them something to ponder over |

| I get those questions from people outside my family, too. I always say "enough to bring him/her home with me". What bugs me is that when people see Lucy and Rebel together, they accept that Reb is a yorkie but always ask if Lucy if full-blooded because she's bigger. She's 1 & 1/2 and weighs 11 lbs. She's a little chunky and her vet says she needs to lose 2 lbs. We've been walking lots more and playing in the yard more, but it hurts my feelings when people make a big deal out of Rebel and basically ignore Lucy. She's soooo loving and smart, I think she knows what they're saying!

| i think it is rude, too and depending on the person i refuse to answer the question! just like when someone asks me "is that a real diamond" or "is that a real louis vuitton" - it's just tacky! why would i tell a complete stranger who shows no common sense how much money i have paid for anything. i can't imagine walking up to someone i have never seen before and questioning them about something so personal. i hardly do that with my family!

| i dont usually get strangers asking me how much my parents paid for him but ususally family and friends. I let them know about how much he was and then respond with "he was a graduation present" and a lot of them are like "why would someone pay that much for a dog?" or "wow dont you think thats a little much for a graduation present" and that makes me a little angry. |

lol yeah I should have said that. I sometimes think that people just say that because my parents can afford to give me a great graduation present whereas some of my other family cannot give as much because of their financial situation. Everybody has different financial situations and thats what those who say "wow dont you think thats a little much'' need to understand. Everybody prioritizes their money differently. | |
