| I've had a lot of people ask how much I paid for Max. Most of them are just curious how much a small dog like him would cost, so sometimes I'll tell them. I've always been a little leery though of telling anyone what any of my pets cost b/c of the potential for theft. I had rare parrots and I paid almost twice what I paid for one of them as I paid for my Yorkie, and I would NEVER have told anyone (other than the cardiac surgeon who happened to be standing next to me when I was making out the check for the bird, and realized how much tax was on a couple thousand dollars ..and he said "well, how much did that bird cost to begin with???". I knew he had NO desire to steal my bird, LOL. But you know when groups of teenagers or young men particularly, who seem to travel in pods, are expressing an interest in something you know they really probably have no other interest in other than profiting from them, it makes you a little uneasy. I feel the same way about Max; if they really want to know, they can look it up on the internet themselves. I have to tell my dh all the time not to tell everyone who asks; I think he's just kind of chagrined that he used to complain at what I spent on my birds (altho we weren't even acquaintances when I bought them), and now he'd spent almost as much on a dog . I wouldn't have a problem with someone trying to take Max out of my arms, b/c he's extremely protective and when someone sticks their hand or hands at him without letting him smell them for as long as he deems suitable, he growls, barks and snaps at them. Not exactly endearing behavior for what appeared to be such a sweet mellow little doggy, but it keeps idiots from invading our personal space Anyone saying something stupid like "who would pay that much for a dog?" is just plain ignorant, so I usually give them a dirty look and say to Max "see, dogs really ARE smarter than most people".

| I've had a lot of people ask, and I always just say that Lacy was a Christmas Present. It's really none of their business. If someone asks me how much yorkies cost, I usually say anywhere between several hundred to $3000 - with about $1500 being average. Oh, and I HATE the "teacup" question - then I have to give the speech

| sorry this is long... I know I posted a few days ago, but I had to share a couple of weird incounters I had with people asking me about Izzy. Sunday, I was at a friends house for a barbecue. Izzy and I went for a walk in her neighborhood. I passed a man and lady sitting on their porchl. The man asked me, "You want to sell that dog?"...out of the blue! Not the usual questions: "Oh cute dog", or "Is it a boy or girl".... So I said, why would I sell him? And gave him a snotty look. He just laughed and the lady was like, He's really cute. So I turned and crossed the street....need to get away from them. They might try to steal him! Last week, I walked him in my neighborhood. This random guy on a bike stopped me for the second time. The first time he asked the usual nosy questions, "how much did he cost?" "where did you get him?". On top of that he asked questions about me: "Where do you live?", "do you have a man", "can I have your number"...whatever...he was a loser. So the second time he saw me, I said hello, Im just being polite. Then he was like, "better watch that dog, he is worth about 2 grand...Im going to steal him...then he laughed like he was joking. So I was pissed and told him "be careful who you mess with sweetie". Then I went home. See I know where he lives, he doesnt know where I live. When he asked where I lived, I didnt tell him.But Im still nervous walking him because Im afraid he might try to find out where I live and steal Izzy.

| yeah, all the time. I find it kind of rude for a complete stranger to ask since it's none of their business. Plus some of their comments are rude when I tell them how much. |

| I get the same question all the time. Sometimes people ask me if I thought it was worth it to pay that much which is totally rude. If it wasn't worth it then I wouldn't have gotten him in the first place. |

YT 2000 Club Member | I have not gotten my guy yet but the family knows that I will be getting one. My mother knows how much he will be because I am using the breeder she got her girls from. Other family members have asked me and I asked them" why are you thinking of getting one?" It will shut them up! My son asked how much was I paying and I said why? and he said so that he could tell his friends mom because she wanted one, I told him that next time she sees him tell her to call me and I will give her the breeders name. I do not want people to know how much my guy cost, I'm afraid that he will be stolen once he gets here! |

| I have been asked that questions by strangers all the time I take my dogs out. What upsets me is that at least 95% of the people that ask are not asking because they want one. They are asking so they can tell you "You've got to be kidding me right, I would never pay over$250 for a dog" So why they hell do they want to know. I mean most people know that Yorkies are one of the most expensive dogs out there. If I see that they are just going to be rude I answer by saying "He cost more than you could pay" I've heard all the comments! lol " I could buy 5 dogs for that price!" I could get a free one at the shelter" and so on. Most of the time I just tell them " They are expensive and not for everyone" Trust me if someone adores Yorkies and really wants one , they would deffinately look for breeders and search online. Before I got my first Yorkie , I never ,ever went up to a stranger and asked them how much they cost because I already knew that it was going to cost me quite a bit of money.I always did tell someone that there furbaby was adorable but never asked to carry it ... I agree completely. I usually recommend YT and my breeder, and tell them that if they really want info, they can get it there.

| [QUOTE=Cookie2;1174319] So why they hell do they want to know. I mean most people know that Yorkies are one of the most expensive dogs out there. Actually, when I got my Yorkie, I had NO idea they were so expensive to tell you the truth. I wasn't really sure that I wanted to get ANY dog at the time and my neighbor thought I needed something to take my mind off my parrot just dying, and she had the breeders bringing the puppies to her house so she could see them, and practically dragged me over there to see them. I INSTANTLY fell in love with Max and when I asked if I could take him next door to show him to my dh and ask if we could buy him, I found out how much they were asking and I thought "NO WAY is my dh going to pay that for a dog right now".....he was taking a nap, and I crept into the bedroom, put Max on the bed and said "look at this, it's almost my birthday, can we get him?"....he looked at Max and said "he's so cute! How much? $200?" .....I was a little surprised, b/c I had never looked for a dog, but dh was .....he says it's the BEST $$$ we've ever spent
