| Do strangers ask you how expensive your yorkie was? The thread about strangers commenting on the size of our yorkies reminded me of an issue that I often experience: people coming up to me and asking how much I paid for Wobie. (This is the question that usually comes after, "is he a teacup?") Does anyone else get this? What do you say? It seems very rude to me, and there's no right way to answer...

Banning Thread Dictator Donating Member | Yeah, I get that. And I don't mind so much telling people what I paid. It's when their jaw drops and they say they can't believe anyone would pay that for a Yorkie that gets irritating.

| I get that question too, and I agree it seems rude! My answer depends on who's asking. If it's my family (I don't want them judging me for how much money I spend on my baby - they already don't understand), then I just brush it off and change the subject. If it's a complete stranger who I'll never see again and they really seem interested in the breed, I typically tell them, but I thinking how rude they are for asking the whole time I'm talking to them! If it's a stranger who comes across with an attitude, I just tell them she was "enough, but worth every penny." |

| I think it's very rude! Chloe and I get it ALL the time They always ask: how much she weighs, is she a teacup, where I got her, how much she costs, how old she is, and will she get any bigger. A lot of people don't even ask those questions, they just assume. "Oh my! What a beautiful teacup Yorkie. She must be a puppy! How old is she? 2-3 months? Will she get very big? I bet she was expensive!" UGH! Then I have to give my teacup lecture One man at the pet store recently, leaned in to Chloe (to "pretend" whisper) & said "Tell your Mommy to take that stupid crap [bow] off your head & to stop dressing you up!" I could NOT believe it...I wanted to kick that man's butt.

| Ugh I hate people that comment on dressing up dogs. It's MY business and mine alone if I dress up my baby and they can all just mind their own business, lol. I haven't gotten asked how much I paid for Kenzie yet... |

| I always say that! My response is usually, "I got what I paid for and more."

Same here! LOL One lady actually said "I don't believe she's not a teacup, let me hold her & I'll tell you if she is or not!" In a VERY rude/aggressive tone, as she was grabbing for Chloe... I had no problem saying "Uhh no. F**k off, lady" to that one

I was walking out of the pet store the other day and some lady pointed at Jack and Eddie, poked her husband and said out loud, "Oh, look at the little rat dogs!" Now I'll call them my little rats sometimes myself, but that just seemed rude. I gave her a mock "hey!" and she said, "That's right, I called them rats!" I just walked away. In retrospect, I should have used your line!

Well, it was more the grabbing that pizzed me off lol. She was really trying to take Chloe out of my hands. But that's right...Chloe is NOT a teacup, and don't you forget it! And Jack & Eddie rat dogs I would have said "Ohhh hell no" to that one LOL

| This topic is something we deal w/ also...I have to agree w/ Sukoshi's Mom on the relative issue..I have never told any of my relatives what I paid, several have said, "WOW! Those dogs are expensive! They go for $400 dollars!"...I'm thinking, "If you only knew." ....but these same people are very regular drinkers & if they add up what the blow getting sloshed every week it would take just a couple months to total what I spent at least I have something to show for my money....
