![]() As of this moment, Keisha is still acting weird with her heiny. As one of the groomers here mentioned, maybe her tail is really tickling her but why should she be crying so pathetically when she sits? A tickle is one thing; pain is another and she seems to uncomfortable. If only they could talk! ![]()

And I have shaved many of them especially after they have finished their Championship titles , but mine have never been matted. When I first take their hair off the tail really tickles them because they are not used to feeling all the long hair on their backs and their legs and it will cause them to walk and move funny sometimes. I do not know about the crying, is the hair cut to close around her butt? So why can't you figure out what is causing her to act this way, does her tail still wag? Can she lift her tail when she moves? Do you think she has internal injuries? I am still a bit confused about how she is acting. I wish I could see her , do you have any pictures of her trim , I am sure you took some just in case you need them for any action you may want to take later , if this really turns out to be the fault of the groomer. The only thing I can think of at this time is the tickle and maybe being trimmed or even nicked by the anus , but you have not said that she was cut. Even if she was cut she should be feeling better soon as dogs that have c-sections are even up and going in about two days. Did they do any kind of a flea treatment on her?????She could have ingested some of it... |

It's razor burns as I described previously. I'm sure they are stinging her. They're purple and irritated looking between her legs, on her neck, behind her ears, and her fanny! As far as internal injuries, that was my first thought. The vet did not seem to think so. She walks and sits sideways, like she's drunk. The groomer did not do any flea treatment to her. And do I think she ingested something? No, but that also crossed my mind. This has gone on too long and Ralphie, after neutering and stone surgery, was livelier by now and he had some serious stuff going on. I have 2 other chi's and after their spaying and neutering, were up and about within 2 days. My daughter asked me today if I think Keisha is seriously ill, like "dying" ill. I really don't think so at all. She's a healthy dog, just traumatized by the shaving ordeal. I honestly believe by tomorrow she should snap back to herself, I hope. If not, it's back to the vet.

The drunk walk is a very good may of describing it, I have seen it many times. If I shave a matted dog I always tell the owners about it. Good thing it only last a few days. As far as the clipper burns go they are caused by shaving to close and it may be that the mats were so tight to the skin that is the only way she could get under them, like the other groomer said she had to shave a dog the other day with a 40 blade ( that is a surgical blade). You will find that if you put a bit of baby powder on the irritated area it will feel better soon. That is what the show poodle people will use on the white poodles when their skin is irritated from shaving the face so short. I hope this helps. |

| ![]() I am not going to defend the groomer but I am going to defend groomers as a whole . A lot of people bring dogs in in such a mess that there is no alternative but to shave them off. That means under the matting and sometimes this has to be very close. good work to take care of your beloved pets. Again I am sorry your dog is not feeling well I do hope in a day or two when the hair starts growing back that she gets back to normal.
I had an experience with Lexie when I first got her. The groomer shaved her completely bald- she was a baby only about 3lbs at the time and we were heading into winter. I was livid- she NEVER called and told me she felt she needed to shave her- Lex was NOT badley matted!! I understand what you are saying as far as sometimes they do not have a choice but to shave them. I feel it is very much up to the groomer to make that VERY clear to the owner. You can avoid a lot of problems by simply communicating.

So being new at grooming and being self taught I simply did the most humane thing and shaved it. Well when the owner picked up the dog he was livid to say the least, He talked about lawyers , I was very afraid and upset as I only did what I could do for this poor animal. I worried about it for weeks that we would loose our home or something but I never heard from him again till the following year when he called to see if I would do that same hair cut again. I told him I would not touch his dog ever , not even with a ten foot poll. But I learned a very good lesson , I always call and offer the owner a strip or they can come and pick the dog up, I will never make that mistake again. |

| ![]() How horrible. People like that shouldn't be allowed near an animal. I think you should repoert it to your local police. That is animal abuse in my case. Hope Keisha is feeling better, poor baby. |

| ![]() and we're lovin' it! Yesterday, I got back from my son's Lasik surgery and my daughter's apartment (in my house) looked like the aftermath of a July 4th celebration! She had the "surprised, did I do that?" look on her face, while my other 2 chihuahaus were horrified and hid in the corner! ![]() ![]() Thank you to everyone for your input, advice, and good wishes! Keisha thanks you too! ![]()

| ![]() I think that is just horrible what happened. Down here in Fl you don't even have to be licenced. I took my girls to 4 different groomers before I found one that was excellent. One place I went it didn't even look like they bathed Misha. Some 16 year old was putting a bow in her hair when I picked her up. My groomer I have now, not only does she groom, she raises & breeds small dogs. My vet even highly reccomends her. She is higher than most groomers, but the kids don't mind going to her. They are always happy when being picked up. My neighbor came home from a groomer, & her little one had ticks. She called the groomer back & they told her yes, were infested right now, but it didn't stop them from having her come in. She now has a groomer that comes to the house. Maybe you can put some alveena lotion on her. Poor baby, razor burn is awful. I hope nothing else is wrong. Keep us informed.

![]() Keisha is doing much better and the razor burns seem to have subsided, even though she does act weird at moments...but like I posted above, she got her dander up yesterday when we were gone and trashed my daughter's apartment. It was really funny when we walked in to see her 3 dogs in horror! But she is definitely on the mend! Thanks!

| ![]() So sorry to hear about Keisha's ordeal. Happy to hear she is on the mend! We took our belove Molly Muffins to the same groomer for 11 years of her life, The Dogs Bow Wow. They were great. They changed location after a few years, a little further away from us, and dumb me went to a place called Groomingtales after stopping in once to check it out. I asked for her to be a little shorter length hair, but when I picked her up, she was given a 'concentration camp' look they called a puppy cut. I never asked for the puppy cut. Poor Molly. She was embarrassed. My husband freaked out when he came home from work. So I stuck with the Dog's Bow Wow. Then a few years later, dumb me stopped in a new place closer to home called Posh Pets, and after much discussion, I decided I would give them a try. Well, Molly looked good, but she smelled heavily of cigarettes when we picked her up. They offered to give us a free grooming to make up for it. The owner claims she warns her staff not to smoke while grooming. Fat chance I would ever take her back. I learned my lesson. We learned the hard way how valuable the staff at the Dogs Bow Wow is. Plus, Molly was very familiar with the shop, and that in itself offers a comfort level to the pet. We just got a new yorkie puppy 1 week ago, and when it is time, she will be heading to the Bow Wow too. I have 2 sisters who both got labradoodles 2 years ago. Sister "A" has a doodle with beautiful hair that is very very thick. Sister "A" claims she would brush her dog regularly, yet the first few times she took her to the Dogs Bow Wow, she was matted and had to pay the extra charges. The last time she took her doodle in, the owner/receptionist told my sister that this was the last time they would groom her doodle, as she was not keeping up with her dogs' grooming needs, she was teaching her dog to hate being groomed bcuz when the dog came in it was such a lengthy, traumatic process not only for the dog but for the groomer. She needed to bring her in more frequently ($$$)or thouroughly comb her at home daily to keep up with her dog's hair. Sister "A" doesn't know the groomer told me this (she said to me "your sister is not happy with me after I had to talk to her about the shape her dog is coming to us"). Sister "A" stopped taking her doodle to the Bow Wow, and instead goes to PetCo or Petsmart... Sister "B" has never had a problem keeping up with her doodle's hair. She combs her daily and takes her to the Dogs Bow Wow and has never had a problem. Her doodles hair, however, is no where near as thick as Sister "A"s doodle... I would always groom my Molly before taking her in to the groomers, just so it would be easiest on Molly. We could comb her every other day at home and she would be tangle free. Never ever did Molly have a matt in her life. When you have a longhaired breed, you have a committment to their coat.

| ![]() Oh my goodness, I am SO sorry that you had to go through this...I sincerely hope that Keisha is okay, just shaken up--how horrible!! It's horrendous to think that anyone could abuse an animal, especially when you put your trust in them like that; I guess it proves to you that you really don't know who you can trust (I hate thinking like that, but...) You know, this post has really made me think; I posted about a week and a half ago about taking Sadie to the groomer and how it was supposed to be the "puppy cut," but she came back looking like the "puppy cut" times 1000... Mike (my boyfriend) did mention to me that he didn't want to take Sadie back there; not that he had seen or heard anything but it's kind of a hole-in-the-wall place, and that he just didn't have a good feeling about it. And thinking about it, the dog shook like crazy when she was on my lap for at least a good week; I figured she was probably a little cold on account of no hair, and it was still a little chilly out here in CT; now I'm wondering if maybe she was petrified. It hurts my heart to think of anyone mistreating my baby...Sadie will NOT be back there. If I have to drive her 45 minutes away to the groomer my parents have been using for years, that's what I'll do. I can't bear to take any chances... I really hope it turns out okay with Keisha. I am so, so sorry.
