| Long sad story: Choose your groomer carefully..... and be very specific as to what YOU want done to your baby. The horror I have been thru for the past 3 days is no joke. I took Ralphie (5yrs old) to his regular groomer on Thursday but someone I met at my vet's office awhile ago told me that SHE is a Yorkie groomer and that next time I want Ralphie groomed, I should bring him to her place, which happens to be so close to my home. She said the place I go to abuses the dogs and they are nasty people. Honestly, I never found that to be the case in nearly 2 years of going there. Ralphie always came out on time, happy, and well groomed and they always seemed to be such caring people. So, since he had been sick for the past 2 weeks, I decided to take him back there since they know him so well and seem to love him. After dropping him off there, I proceed to take Keisha, our Shihtzu, to the "new" groomer, alot close to my home Since Keisha's fur was one big ball of knots, the groomer said she needs to cut her short, but for some odd reason, she made my daughter sign papers about this so-called "short" haircut. I don't think my daughter really read the papers well but I just had a sinking feeling this was not going to be good. Well, I get a call from Ralphie's groomer that he was ready. And as always, Ralphie came out happy, clean and ready to go home and show off. I'm so glad his HGE episode has completely healed up from almost 2 weeks ago. I then get a call that Keisha can be picked up and to be prepared because she's a little "OUT OF SORTS"! I freak out, as does my daughter, not prepared for what we were going to see. She had had gorgeous blond fur going in and she now was a completely shaved down to her bare skin, with just long fur left on her ears and a piece in a bow on the top of her head, and a furry tail. She was crying and maimed looking and the groomer said it was to be expected! Long story, sorry, a little shorter. Not only is she constantly wingeing and crying but she cannot sit right, will not move, will only go on the weewee pad if you put her on there, she will only eat if you bring her her bowl. she is shivering and acts as though she were beaten. I first suspected they drugged her but now I'm convinced they beat her instead. We finally took her to the vet yesterday and the office was in shock when they saw her. She was just not the same dog they know! My vet was speechless. He said she is absolutely traumatized by the buzz cut and she was probably abused at the same time. He gave her a cortizone shot, I think, to calm her down and ease her pains and we have to watch her carefully....$60 later. We went to the groomer yesterday and told her about Keisha's condition. My daughter was about to rip into the groomer and I had to hold her back from causing a scene as the police would have definitely had to make an appearance! She told the groomer that she at first suspected her of giving her a drug or an herb in order to buzz the dog that close but now she suspects she has been abused as did our vet! My daughter told the groomer, "I didn't come back here 2 days ago because if I did, I would have stood you on a table, yanked the crap out of your hair, then buzzed you down until your skin turned raw and purple like Keisha's and then I want to see how you feel!!!" I asked the groomer, "Did you tell us that you were going to BUZZ Keisha or cut her short? If you felt the need to buzz her, you should have called us to tell us that and I would have immediately said to leave her alone. I'm picking up my dog and bringing her elsewhere. You never even gave us the courtesy of a phone call to tell us what you were doing. Who died and left you boss???" At that point, I thought I was going to lose my cool. The groomer was embarrassed as other clients were waiting and listening to us rant as they were to pick up their dogs. All the groomer did was offer to pay us for the vet visit and wrote us a check for $60. We still threatened her that if anything happens to Keisha, that she hasn't heard the last of us and we left. This morning, the dog is still crying and might possibly be worse than yesterday. We are going to the emergency vet again and hopefully it will still be a part of Keisha's trauma and he finds nothing physically wrong with her. She just cries because she cannot sit comfortably. And her eyes are so so sad. Before we left, I did say, "Tell your groomer who put down my groomer that she shouldn't spread lies to others about how abusive my groomer is. Please look in your own backyard." And then we stormed out of there. Ok! That's my rant for the day but it's very important that when you take your babies in for grooming that you are very very specific about what you want and don't give a groomer liberty to do as he/she pleases. Hope everyone has had a better holiday weekend than us!

| I am so sorry for your horrible experience. I hope that Keisha will be herself again soon. You might need to learn to groom yourself as she could be traumatized by just being left at any grooming facility again. Or what about a mobile groomer who comes to you?? Sissy & Angel send hugs to your little girl.

| Oh poor Keisha! I hope she's better soon. It tears me up to think about her being mistreated . You're a better person than me because I think the police would've had to show up!

| Oh my heavens. What a horrible experience for all of you. I would see that that groomer would not cut another hair on any dog again. Please report that incident to the local police. That is animal abruse. How painful is must be for Ralphie. Poor baby. I would take her to court! No way should she be allowed around dogs. feel better soon Ralphie. |

| I'm so sorry for your poor little girl. I hope that she is just "feeling naked" and there are no internal injuries from the abuse. I totally agree, they should have called you before they did anything so dramatic. Maybe she would feel better with a sweater on. |

| I am so very sorry for you and your little one's ordeal. I had a similar ordeal about 2 years ago when my groomer called me and said, "You can pick up your dog's body at the local vet hospital - He's dead". According to the groomer, my dog fell off the table and the table collapsed on him killing him. My vet had an autopsy done and drug screening - to no avail. I called the local Humane Animal Abuse Agency and they "looked into it, but found nothing". I was sooooo devastated. I do understand how you feel though. Please spread the word about the groomers. Call the local TV station and let them know. Maybe they would be willing to do a special on it. My hugs and my thoughts and my prayers are said for you and the baby today. My Tullie sends her good thoughts and prayers also. |

| Oh no!!! Your poor baby!! That's just completely unacceptable She must be so terrified. I would have freaked out too! I'm so sorry that you all went through this. I don't trust any groomers with my babies thanks to an experience with the dog (RIP Buddy) that I had prior to my yorkie. Just give Keisha lots of hugs and kisses.

| OMG!!! I don't know - the only groomer that I've been 100% happy with is no longer on this side of town - infact, I don't know where she is. I asked the owners daughter where she went but only got a "she no longer works here - she's in Henderson". I've been back and used 2 other groomers and a mobile groomer. Can't say that any of them made me very happy. The mobile groomer, who is a lady at work's daughter, was supposed to be "great" at doing Yorkies... I always ask because I realize that they are harder to cut especially a cotton coat - but she cut her like a Shih Tzu!!! Ewww! (sorry not offense to Shih Tzu owners but - she's a Yorkie!) Anyway, I always stay for the entire ordeal and have a typed up list of what to do and what not to do. They haven't shaved her but I do know she's felt violated. I guess I'll have to invest in the CD about grooming her. So sorry about your furbaby. I hope she feels better and nothing more comes up.

Donating YT 14K Club Member | Poor Keisha...how horribly traumatized she must be. My heart cries for her. NO dog should ever be treated like that. I can only hope that she'll fully recover and be back to her old self...but it sound like it's going to take a lot of time.

| Oh, poor Keisha That stupid, stupid woman, she deserved even more yelling at than you did. Will say a prayer for your little one that she will recover soon with no further complications.

Yorkie Kisses are the Best! Donating Member | That's truly horrible and a good warning to others. I also had a bad experience with Chanel way back 3 years ago but nothing like this ...I groom my girls my own self now because of it. I hope your baby gets over the trauma and I don't blame you one bit for raising hell angelyorkie - I'm SO SORRY for what happened to your poor dog - that's EVIL....The dryers are a big concern in grooming shops - did they check for that ?? For your sake I hope it wasn't....that would be hard to live with knowing that may have happened.... |

| I'm sooooooooo sorry your baby had to go through that.......it's sad that someone that would claim to be a groomer (you'd think they would LOVE animals).....could hurt a poor defenseless little girl like that......Honestly, if you believe she really hurt or drugged the dog.....I'd file a police report just to have it on record......and incase that ever happens to another dog there will be a report........ |

| I am sooo sorry about your baby. I would have been hysterical!! I hope she feels better really soon. Give her some extra attention. I've never taken Chewy to a groomer. I bought a trimmer and just cut her myself. I keep her short ( 1-3 inches on the body and longer on the face). You should try that. There is a safety on the trimmer so it wont cut her and you can adjust how much to take off. I hate that people can do this and get away with it. |

And to everyone else, yes, I'm so tempted to report this incident to the local police here. I'm glad the vet has seen Keisha and is fully aware of her condition. At this point, I don't think Keisha will be able to go to another groomer for a very long time and we'll probably have to learn how to groom her ourselves. In fact, I almost tempted to do Ralphie myself too. My daughter had the right idea: you mistreat a dog...you deserve the same treatment back!
