You know, this post has really made me think; I posted about a week and a half ago about taking Sadie to the groomer and how it was supposed to be the "puppy cut," but she came back looking like the "puppy cut" times 1000... Mike (my boyfriend) did mention to me that he didn't want to take Sadie back there; not that he had seen or heard anything but it's kind of a hole-in-the-wall place, and that he just didn't have a good feeling about it. And thinking about it, the dog shook like crazy when she was on my lap for at least a good week; I figured she was probably a little cold on account of no hair, and it was still a little chilly out here in CT; now I'm wondering if maybe she was petrified. It hurts my heart to think of anyone mistreating my baby...Sadie will NOT be back there. If I have to drive her 45 minutes away to the groomer my parents have been using for years, that's what I'll do. I can't bear to take any chances...

I really hope it turns out okay with Keisha. I am so, so sorry.
Awww, poor Sadie had to be traumatized too! Makes me so mad. My daughter didn't let the groomer get off so easy. It sickens me what could go on when we're not overseeing everything. Kind of like how the nurses took advantage of my dad when he was in a nursing home a few years back. Nurses were as kind to us and him when we were visiting, but I saw how abusive they were to other patients when their relatives were not around, I used to leave there crying. One time I came at an off hour and they were physically abusing my dad in his wheelchair. And if he were in the right state of mind, he could have defended himself. It was a horror! Our babies are just as defenseless in these situations. You just hope they are treated with tender loving care with the right groomer.

I do have an excellent groomer for Ralphie, and I will not be trying anyone new, unless mine retires or moves!

Then a few years later, dumb me stopped in a new place closer to home called Posh Pets, and after much discussion, I decided I would give them a try. Well, Molly looked good, but she smelled heavily of cigarettes when we picked her up. They offered to give us a free grooming to make up for it. The owner claims she warns her staff not to smoke while grooming. Fat chance I would ever take her back. I learned my lesson. We learned the hard way how valuable the staff at the Dogs Bow Wow is. Plus, Molly was very familiar with the shop, and that in itself offers a comfort level to the pet. We just got a new yorkie puppy 1 week ago, and when it is time, she will be heading to the Bow Wow too.
Im glad I looked at what state you lived in before I replied. I saw Posh Pets and said OMG, I work at Posh Pets... But in New Jersey lol
I would of been mortified if a dog left stinking... Thankfully I dont smoke
And these 2 Posh Pets are no way related.

If someone is thinking of grooming their baby in Staten Island, I can tell you where NOT to go! In fact I can name 2 places right now. I can also tell you the wonderful groomers are at The Groom Room. Keisha is getting better by the day. Darn, some of your stories are as scary as mine, and some scarier! I'm sure there are more good than bad though and it's always nice to hear about good groomers too! I wish I were brave and talented enough to do my own babies.

Ummm, I have really attempted hairdressing on my daughters over the years and I can tell you they must have felt as embarrassed as Keisha more than a few times! Yeah, I can really kill hair color and cuts.

Im so sorry about what happened, that makes me furious I want to take that groomer out back and beat her senseless. She should never be allowed to touch an animal again.

Exactly! My daughter wants to call our local paper now and have our story published. We're still so furious because although Keisha is so much better, she has not fully returned to herself and we are having a very hard time getting her to go in the car, let alone be put on her leash to go out for a walk. I think she does not trust us as to where she's going, poor girl. And of course, it's going to be a long time before we can ever take her back to any groomer and leave her there for any length of time without her crying and acting up. Can't blame her either!

Oh my gosh! all those poor dogs! Ive never had a bad groomer experience thank goodness id probably have a fit in the groomers office if i had. My groomer in fact was really good I took oliver my pomeranian and anna my yorike at the same time and id never gotten anna groomed before and literally told her i had no idea how you go about cutting a yorkies hair so i had no idea how i wanted it done. she pulled out her own yorkies that she had and then gave me a hole description of each and then said she could get some pictures of more if i didnt like those. I was amazed.

I am sorry for what happened to keisha. This is the reason a I am a maniac when it comes to grooming my dog. I take him to two places for grooming, these places are the only two a trust, but regularly he has been going to the second groomer since in the first place Carlos the groomer is not working there anymore. Ronald is the groomer for the second place, he is great, he calls to tell if my dog has this and that. He does exactly what I want and coli comes out gorgeous and happy.
When my coli was operated, I needed to take him to a groomer so they could shave his hair, because it was to traumatic for me }, to bathe him and comb him without hurting him, eventhough the sticthes were off and the wound had healed. So I could this place near my home, to tell them about my dogs condition, and they told me I could bring him, but that if he died it was my own irresponsability. I was outraged and told lots and lots of stuff and the end I told them donīt worry it would be my irresponsability not to tell people of your lousy policy. I tell this to my groomers and they enter in state of disbelief of such barbaric thing.

I'm really glad to hear the Keisha is doing better. That woman should be shameful and never ever come near a living animal again. If that were me, I don't think she'll still be working there. She is just a hyprocrite.

I just read your post. I was horrified! I am so sorry. I hope your baby is better now. How traumatic. I almost cried reading this. My heart goes out to you and your family and I truly hope your baby is doing better.

Thank you so much. Yes, Keisha is definitely back to herself but it did take a longer time than we expected.

Just to let you all know, this groomer's name is now mud in my town and I couldn't be happier...well, I could be happier if she has to shut her doors permanently. Thanks for everyone's support and for caring. Hope all your furbabies are happy and well and never ever have to be put thru an ordeal like we had.

I am sorry about your little girl. I am so glad that she is doing better. I only read a couple of the stories from other people it is just too sad for me. I do the grooming to Abigail and Lola myself and I have to say after these stories I am really glad. I keep them in a full coat so I don't have to do much except trim their ears and around the butt. Again I am so sorry you had such a bad experience I feel soo bad for the poor little baby.

I can't beleive that. Did she hurt her bottom some how? This is why I do my own grooming now, I took Teddy 1 time to the groomer and that was our last time. U tell U're daughter go! And U had every single right to be upset, oh if it was any of my babies then the whole block would of know about it and yeah I would of gone to jail too! I hope she will heal and not be scared of U to self groom her at home. Hugs, Lee

Wow, are there some bad groomers out there or what?!?! I've been very lucky, the only complaint that I've had about my babies' groomings is that they were lopsided or not cut short enough.

I'm so sorry about everyone's experiences, especially the baby that was killed
