I personally am new and will no longer post after today .
Most people here are nice but some act like they are the post police. Reading it wrong and then saying ive said something totaly different.
Then because i said not all breeders who dont charge a high price are bad breeders. Someone totally tore appart my post. Pointing out every mistake. Or things they didnt understand. So im done posting. Seems i cant do it to satisy some. One today said 4 months was to young to go to people. Excuse me 12 weeks is acceptable. Good grief people will never get puppy time. My yorky i got at 5 months which i mistakenly put 4 months. I didnt get the edit in on time. But i wished i had got him at 12 weeks . But i said 4 months and she accused me of getting people to get puppies to young. Im sure people are not following me around for advice. Im a senior so no im not perfect in my posts. Plus just had surgery. But its not gonna be a problem im done posting here

I hope you don't leave, we all have been frustrated with Yorkietalk and even our inability to get our thoughts across. I think we have all felt picked on and that's not a good feeling. I read the thread you're referring to and there was a lot of confusion, you're right 12 weeks is 3 months, not 4 and it good to get information from people on all sides of an issue. Nothing wrong with you sharing your experience. Anyway, hope you don't leave, and I think what you've contributed to THIS thread is very valuable.

Thanks but like i say i cant seem to express my thoughts right that doest seem to draw conflict or confusion. My problem so i will read and not post.

I hope you keep posting. Some people are just so passionate and it's hard to actually read intent and delivery. I like reading all the posts here, it's nice to see different beliefs and people coming together for one similar interest in yorkies. Forums can get intense, but they should be mostly fun once you get the hang of them. :)

there is a big difference between not taking care of a dog and the blanket statement you made of not having a dog "period"

I know for a fact many people who get their first dog and have a major illness did not have any clue that could happen. I know for a fact life happens, there are finacial reversals. I know many people who WORK very hard to provide for their families and their dogs.... don't make judgements like that if you have not walked in their shoes.

Saying that, I would move heaven and earth to care for my dogs.... I hope I never have to make a choice when I can not provide any longer.

I do hope you continue to post. Some people here are too quick in their judgement of other people and their actions. I am sorry that some people's opinions have made you feel this way.

I think she is referring to those few members lately who have been given great advice but chose not to get the vet care they needed....one of them was put to sleep after suffering several days....you know the ones Shinja that we have all seen too many times here.


There is a big difference in knowing and not knowing...we've all made mistakes but some choose to perpetuate them....and we see pups die because of this.

I hope you will stay and post. Everyone's thoughts are welcome here.

Thank you for the encouraging words. I have gained a lot of info in here. Its not my intentions to cause confict or confusion. I will keep lurking and reading posts . I fully admitt im not the greatest at posting. I get ahead of myself. I end up with misspelled words. Sometimes i hit the wrong goofy letter or it dont catch. But when i feel my posts are being pulled apart or turned around making it sound like im saying something im not. Or make me feel im not a good puppy owner cause of finances i take offense and will speak up. This is why i will read posts only. This solves the issue. This is a great sight i have learned a lot. We are all constantly learning here, and reading and lurking is certainly one way to learn more. There is absolutely nothing wrong with that.

And when we decide to post.... all that is asked is that we "have respect toward others".... just show a little kindness. It really shouldn't be that hard.

People are going to always read things and interpret them differently. You think I said 4 months was to young but I didn't. I got from your post you were saying that you should get them as early as you can so I was sharing my opinion. The other post again was an opinion, you very very rarely find a good breeder that sells puppys pretty cheap and it normally means they cut corners and that information is extremly important for other people who read these posts to know and read. Yt posts come up a lot when people search things about yorkies so lots of people read these threads and the information needs to be right so people can learn from it. I'm sorry if you think that people are out to get you on this board but that is not the case we all have different opinions and sometimes we don't all agree and sometimes some people get things wrong so it's a chance to learn when someone corrects you or points something out. I still learn from this site. I'm sorry if you thought I was attacking you but I was not and I believe you got a bit nasty with me too.

I was not trying to say you should wait until 4 months I was just saying I don't think getting a puppy at 4 months is terrible and harder to train and it's set in it's ways and stuff.

Spend some time in the sick and injured section and you will see where my statement came from. Many people come here and can not even afford normal vet care for there dog and they knew that before they got the dog and that is wrong in my opinion.

Yep that is it for sure and as a dog love it's hard for me to see those and I cry for those dogs and hurt for them. It's upsetting.

Effective communication
 

Some people think with logic and some think with feelings and neither way is better - just different.


I, for example, am a logic person. I understand things and communicate that understanding via logic which is not always construed as "nice" to a feeling person because truth is often blunt. In my opinion, one should adapt their feelings towards truth - not the other way around.


Yet, social intelligence is important especially on a forum where all sorts of personalities converge. What good is logic without the ability to express it so that it can be shared with and learned by others? So, I have to ensure that I try very hard to come across as understanding AND logical. I must understand that not everything is logical and feelings can be the most illogical of all things. However, without the compassion of a feeling person, my logical statements would not always be well tolerated.

We all need each other to grow. So, LOGICIANS, if you state a fact, try to do so compassionately. FEELERS, if someone states a fact, try to see it as good intent rather than an attack on your character.


Give and take is key to effective communication.


I think someone stated in an earlier post that we all care about the dogs. That's the thing to remember. We can learn from each other so that our dogs benefit from our knowledge and our love.

Great post! Yes, it should be a sticky note so we can refer to it often. The way I like to think is...speak to others with the same respect that you would want others to give to your mother or daughter.

Simply brilliant insight. We all communicate so differently and there is no one size fits all package. I know I am one of those feelers and sometimes my heart will fight with my head but I will follow my heart each and every time. People come to this forum for support, advice, and valuable information. People that give that advice are valued to me but I am not going to take that advice each and every time. I hope that individual people can see that there are dozens of others giving advice also and sometimes that advice conflicts with each other. It is my job to take the information as a whole and then make the most informed and best decision for me and my dog. Sometimes I will make mistakes. I can tell you right now that I made plenty of those on my human kids and trust me their lives and little psyche's were at just as much risk as my little furbabies. I hope and trust that the members of yt realize that each of us is here because we adore these furbabies and are really doing the best we can. That is how I choose to view each member and try to keep that thought in mind when making a post. I know when I am lectured and preached to a wall or a barrier is automatically put up. I hope this post doesn't offend; just sharing my thoughts and feelings on the subject.

I will respect whatever decision you make as life is too short to spend it feeling attacked but as a complete newbie I just want you to know I have always loved reading your posts and value your input as much as everyone else's. Diversity in thoughts is what makes this site so valuable. I need to see all opinions and then make my own judgements.

I agree with you, if we only hear our own opinion repeated over and over, there's no chance of any new learning. Sometimes the argument for the opposite side can even strengthen our own belief system or add another dimension to it.

I believe as many have said in this post..there are many people-numbers unknown, that no longer post , because of the negative interaction.

They may read, but they will not comment any more..

I think that after a long day at work getting beat up, who wants to deal with

I've grown to dread this thread.

I stay out of any medical threads because, I'm not qualified, have nothing constructive to offer. LOL I also, because of the response I received here, would never ask a medical/dental question unless I wanted only a SECOND opinion to what I already knew from other sources.

No secret, I only hold my grudge against the one. The others are merely followers. I have chosen to simply ignore whatever negativity that the followers displayed and I do comment on some of their threads.

There are a lot of good people here. We can post nearly anything. I appreciated the comments while working through the choices for dog food fairly recently... Much better than this other forum all about dog food. I was disappointed in the direction the nutritionist thread went. Once the one posted there, it was doomed! LOL

My main thoughts about YT are there is lots of room here for nearly any discussion you would like to hold. Stick around, post it up, just because someone disagrees with you is no reason to leave.

I seriously have to know why you continue to post posts like this? How many have been deleted now? Is it just like ohhhh I have gone to long with out bringing it up? Let it go.

Just remember that ONE is the ONE AND ONLY and we love her....there is no one like the ONE and the rest of us are grateful for the ONE AND ONLY...
