So from a picture you can tell these two pups don't meet the standard? And what standard is that?

I have these 2 pups in my home and i have taken them to the vet. They are both in perfect, healthy condition. So what is the defect?

They are beautiful and I am sure healthy as the vet says but that tells you nothing about the lines they came from and as a breeder I would want to know if there are genetic problems. That is what I meant by not meeting the standard. Without their history there is really no way for you to know.

The vet said that Maxx might stick his tongue out all the time due to his teeth hurting.
And I know some of you will yell and scream... but no I am not getting these 2 fixed. In the late future we may breed them - after I have learned about the breed 100% and when my vet says that it would be fine.

Does that make me a puppy mill - NO - I will just keep my options open. The next time she is in heat she will be diapered and not bred.

Are you doing anything to fix his teeth, so that they don't hurt? Bad teeth are very serious, and can lead to heart disease. The idea that they are hurting him should be enough for you to get them fixed. No vet can tell you that your dog is 100% anything, you have to do an DNA test to determine that. He can just tell you that they look like a certain breed. Diapering does not prevent them from tieing. I'm sorry you got taken, this was way too much money to spend on this pair, but I hope you do the right thing and get them fixed.

Yes his teeth are getting fixed on the 30th of this month. My vet wanted to give him a little time to adjust to his new home before he goes into surgery.

Blood test have been done. My vet covered all the basis that needed to be covered. She is well aware that we might breed in the future so we dotted all the i's and crossed all the t's.

Glad that his teeth are being fixed, but vets do not evaluate dogs for breeding. If you ask a vet if a dog should breed, they will see if the have the necessary equipment and are "healthy" enough to breed. They won't do genetic testing and most aren't even aware of the breed specific testing that should be done. Breeders show their dogs to experts in order to evaluate their breeding suitabilty, this is what they do at dog shows, and good breeders go one step further, they study and learn about breeding and do the necessary health testing and know the line of the dogs backwards and forwards.

Yes that is exactly what I'm doing making their lives even harder.... Must be so hard for them to:
1. Be on a schedule of food/sleep/play
2. Get endless amount of affection by 5 people
3. Have play dates with other yorkies
4. Have the best dog food money can buy
5. Getting groomed and cleaned on a daily basis
6. Going in for vet checks to do regular check ups and vaccinations
7. Going for car rides and everywhere mommy goes
8. Having a full closet of the best clothes.

Your so right - what I'm giving is so much worse than what they had. Must suck to go from being locked in a cage with no social interaction to what I am supplying.

One of you should really call my local SPCA and report me!

3.In your first post you were quite upset about their condition and
behavior.
4.Now everything is great because the vet tells you this female can
probably crank out a couple of more litters for you.
5.You have already been breeding Shih Tzus.
6.You have not got a clue about the genetic background of these dogs.
They could be brother and sister for all you know.
7.No responsible person buys a breeding pair of dogs out of the back seat
of a stranger's car.
8. Your original intent was to buy a breeding pair and now you have it.A
vet can only tell you about the physical condition of the dogs. The vet
knows nothing about their genetic background or their pedigrees.
9. These dogs were already exploited by their previous owner and now
you are going to continue to do so because it is your right.
10.Because of such "casual" breeding practices the Yorkshire Terrier is
now suffering from multiple genetic disorders. Innocent people who
do not know or understand about these disorders have purchased
what they thought was going to be a long time family pet only to
discover that the new pet needs thousands of dollars in medical
care if it is even going to survive.
11. Yes, it is your "right" to do this but there is nothing right about it.

Do you really believe a dog CARES if it has a closet full of the best clothes? I'm sure your female will give up some of her outfits in order not to have to deliver more pups. It is painful for her to deliver, and it's a needed sacrifice, to preserve the breed, but she's done her part. What about the offspring, what are you doing to insure that your dogs will have healthy offspring?

I was happy my vet said they were healthy!!!! I was happy my vet said she was NOT overbred, not that - that means I am going to "crank" out some puppies (what is wrong with you)???

If you read I said maybe in 1-2 years time we will LOOK at having puppies. Not anytime soon.

I just had to add this even though I know I said I wasn't going to say anymore. I adopted a beautiful 5 year old rescue girl a couple of years ago who had been used as a breeder. She was fixed before coming to me and we gave her the very best of vet care and all the love we have ...but unfortunately the poor little thing was worn out long before we got her due our vet said to having been bred way to often. We got to share her little life for only 2 years before her little heart gave out on her . If you truly already love these little ones like you do your own children please stop and consider what having more puppies could do to her. I know you said the vet said they were doing great but please consider that she has had 2 litters already and she is only 3 years old . Oh how can you possibly say she was not overbred???? 2 litters in a 3 year lifespan ?????
