| Is is totally revealing. Still, over time, some live and learn.

| The OP has no idea about the genetic background of these dogs. She does not even know if they are related. She knows they have been used for breeding. She purchased them out of the back seat of a car. It does not take much to realize what is going on here. It is irresponsible to breed these dogs. It is exploitation at it's best. |

| This is all so very sad. This kind of thought process, or lack there of, KILLS the souls of people that have dedicated their lives and are passionate about the study of genetic disorders, pedigrees, what pedigrees you can mix with excellent results, and pedigrees you dont dare mix because of the dogs in that pedigree, going back past 15 generations, you double up and triple up on genes that then become dominate and you produce genetic disasters. We are active in research, study genetic markers, study pedigrees, study lines, donate large sums of money to have these diseases marked and irradicated from our precious breed....so far in over our heads financially, trying desperately to see that the diseases that plague our precious Yorkies are cured ...... To see people think they can go buy a couple of dogs they know absolutely NOTHING about, from someone they know NOTHING about, know NOTHING about what is behind these two dogs, are not even sure the dogs are REGISTERED (!!! OMG !!! They claim they know about breeding because they have 'done it before'....but they dont know you can not submit a blood sample to get a dog registered with the AKC?????!!!!!)), forget a basic pedigree, are CLUELESS about what line each dog is predominately from.....and then you have people defending this as "It's OK, she isnt doing it for the money"....or "Its OK, she has a 'right' to do this"...or "Its OK, she is going to give the babies away"....I could care less about ANY of that, including her "rights"....WHAT ABOUT THE WELFARE OF THE BABIES???....WHAT ABOUT THE BABIES????????? It is YOUR "RIGHT", no, it is your RESPONSIBILITY to be certain, to the very best of your ability, that you are going to produce babies that are not going to SUFFER AND DIE because YOU wanted to "be a breeder".....shame on you.....it just breaks my heart for all the little puppies.....shame, shame on you. I think it should be a law, if you produce a sick puppy, you have to do absolutely EVERYTHING that is known to medicine, to save that baby. No culling, no "giving it away" and then disappearing into the sunset....by the time these people had spent a huge sum of money, trying to correct the mistakes they were responsible for, their "heartfelt desire to be breeders, their 'right' to be breeders" would vanish like a puff of smoke.......shame on all of you..... |

| So many would-be or actual breeders don't even seem to think about any rights their prospective puppies should have to the best life possible. The ONLY way to ensure that situation is to have the entire system in place that is totally dedicated to breeding only dogs that are AKC registered, health certified with temperament and pedigrees/genetics very carefully considered and a long experience with dealing properly with pregnant/whelping/nursing females and puppies in trouble. And then that breeder has to know people and how to tell who is going to be a truly responsible and loving, caring owner. That part alone would be exhausting to me - just the endless talking to and picking the new parents, not to mention the research and study, the time, the vetting/testing, the money, the whole process of seeing a bitch through the pregnancy/whelping/nursing and then months of puppy care and all that that implies. To me only a situation like that gives Yorkie puppies their best chance of a a healthy, long and happy life with people who just want to love their Yorkie puppy.

| I normally don't post on these kinds of heated threads, but.............we can't really judge people we have never met; and people are going to do whatever they want, in the long run. No sense in getting worked up about a situation you can't change. I learned a long time ago to "choose my battles".......I like to stick to ones I can win!

| Our posts are not just directed toward the OP but all current/future readers. And people make judgments of others they haven't met all the time from what they say they have done or say they are going to do as well as from their stated attitudes. And if it involves innocent dogs, readers have a serious responsibility to speak up if they feel it is unwise. And one never knows what the information-sharing, thought-provoking back-and-forth of a "heated" thread may net in the further understanding of responsible dog stewardship by any given reader. If just one inadvisable breeding is prevented, now or 10 years fom now, that is very important to me - and it's a big win.
