| I am not suggesting the OP breed her new dogs, but if she plans too then she should discuss this with the vet right? She needs to find out if they meet the "standards" doesn't she? If his tongue sticks out then that is not normal and would point toward not breeding correct? Are there tests she could order from the vet to see if they are good for breeding, or is it pointless if she doesn't have AKC or some other papers? I don't know the answers to these things, and the OP probably doesn't either. I bring it up because she may ignore the pleas to spay and neuter since she apparently liked the breeding idea initially and now the vet says the girl is not overbred. How can a vet tell that anyway? Is there some sign? I just thought the OP should be educated on what research to do before she breeds, if she decides to do that. With more education about the process she might be more likely to just spay, neuter, and be happy. I read the thread about breeding and was amazed at the supplies needed and what could go wrong during the birth! I would take my girl to the vet to deliver after reading all that. I wonder what THAT would cost. Luckily, my baby is spayed! |

| ![]() ![]() Maxx has long hair - and LuLu is the one with no hair. The vet said that Maxx might stick his tongue out all the time due to his teeth hurting. And I know some of you will yell and scream... but no I am not getting these 2 fixed. In the late future we may breed them - after I have learned about the breed 100% and when my vet says that it would be fine. Does that make me a puppy mill - NO - I will just keep my options open. The next time she is in heat she will be diapered and not bred. |

| Also, I am not 100% clueless when it comes to breeding - so you all should know. I did breed shih tzu for some time. In no way was it a puppy factory - but we did have 2 litters over 5 years. I assure you if I plan to go that route I will do my homework and do what is in the best interest of my pups. |

| I hope most people will not get all over for you for breeding them, as long as you truly know what you are getting in to and as long as you know you will have homes for them. And or course, that your vet doesn't see any health risks to them and no genetic problems to pass on. Enjoy your new family! Also, they look real cute but it's hard to tell how much white is on Lulu. I don't know if that much white is breed standard. It could just be the flash. I'm just a yorkie-poo owner, so I don't really know how a standard yorkie is supposed to look, though I think Maggie looks very yorkie and not too much poodle. |

| No they are both tan and grey... I think it might have been the flash. The vet said they are without a doubt 100% purebred yorkies. |

| PLEASE don't let this thread get dramatic. I'm already an army wife...I deal with drama, drama, drama all day long. Right or wrong, it's her business if she chooses to breed. She didn't say she was going to breed them immediately, but she's going to hold off for a while and talk with the vet. IT'S HER RIGHT! |

| Yep thats the problem everyone thinks its their right to breed. These dogs dont even meet the standard, there has been no testing on them and most likely their parents to know if they will pass on genetic problems. Yea your right it is her right to breed these two. Im sorry breeding is a privalege

| I'm not even going to respond to your comment. It's one thing to have a response about something, but it's coming across as though you want to start a big uproar. There's nothing you can do to stop her, so why bother saying anything at all? You've already made your peace...no need to be snarky on here. |

| Quite frankly I don't understand the huge upset in me wanting to breed these two babies in the future. I have a vet at my finger tips that I have used for over 10 years - I have breeding knowledge and I love these 2 pups as though they were my kids. I am not doing anything harmful in anyway, shape or form. Also, I wont even be looking at breeding her for another year to 2 years down the road. I am sorry if you feel I am doing something crazy wrong - but that is your opinion. |

Like I said previously, right or wrong...it's her decision to make. The good thing is that this thread prompted me to go ahead and schedule Teddy's neuter on Tuesday. LOL No way (in hell) do I want this sweet puppy dog spraying and marking all over my house. | |

| I wasn't going to reply to this but......didn't the op say she wanted to breed for the betterment of the breed? How can you do that if you don't have a clue about their lines? Yes it is her right to breed but these babies are not young anymore and their has been no testing in mho how can this better the breed. I will try not to say anymore but this all makes me sad . Yes she spent a lot of money but whos fault is that? If I were going to breed I would of done my homework first on the breeding pair and then made a purchase not to mention homework on the breeder themselves. Ok I will shut up now. You say you were not new to the world of breeding so when you saw these babies and she told you that you could get their papers with blood work you had no clue????
