About a month ago the hubby and I decided to get a yorkie and try to fill the void. I researched the breed as I am not real familiar with yorkies. Then we looked searched and searched for a reputable breeder. But wow the puppies were so exspensive. Well one night looking through a web site called Hoobly, we found the sweetest lil face I have ever seen.(HOOBLY is full of Lies and scams..BEWARE!!) He was sweet and affordable. He is 3 pounds and 3 years old and only $500.00. So we went to meet him. He was as she said, sweet and tiny. But he was wearing a bellyband. She said that was because they were just moving into the new house (it was a new house), and he would mark his new territory. She said he was not use to a collar and was only walked in a stroller. She said not to bother to feed him hard treats, he does not like them. I had to pay and extra $100.00 for his AKC papers. She asked me not keep him locked in a cage.

I had to have him, he just snuggled into my arms and into my heart. On the way home I realized he was shivering and his breathe was horrific! At home he didn't try to play, he wouldn't eat...he piddled on everything!!! He only curled into a ball and shivered. His nails were real long, ears dirty and a hack job for a haircut, like she just did it on the fly! I'm trained in pet grooming. So we went to the vet. He is 3 pounds and basically healthy except that he has the worst teeth our vet has seen in years, diaper rash from wearing the bellyband all the time. He had a fever from rotten teeth and that is reason he would not eat the treats and his food! We believe he was not scocialized and possibly only let out of his crate for breeding because he went right into his crate with no problems and didn't know how to play.

Since his antibiotics and working with him everyday, showing him how much we love him and showing him how to play, he really is turning into a special lil guy! His dental surgery is Friday and he will missing about 10 rotten teeth and a ton of tartar.

So what I am saying is don't give up on your lil ones. Work with your vet and see what happens!!!!
What a touching story, you should be so proud of yourself!!! You are giving this little one a real chance at life. God Bless!!!

Cesar dog food and many of the common dog foods found in grocery stores are low grade commercial foods that contain "meat by products." As navillusa noted it has a lot of artificial ingredients added to make the food look and smell appealing but are harmful to your pet. Meat by products are the parts of an animal that no human would eat and are nutrient deficient. You might want to go to a pet food supply store and look for a high grade food that is natural and does not have a lot of grain in it.

I don't know how bad their teeth are. Some dogs that have been fed low grade foods for several years have bad teeth and have a hard time chewing hard food. Your vet hopefully will get a good look at the teeth and let you know what can be done.

Great News!!!

I took LuLu and Maxx to the local vet and they are both healthy! I am so pleased... Maxx does have to have a few teeth extracted due to rot - but other than that a clean bill of health. We are letting Maxx get use to his new environment before doing the extraction - and I will wait until after his dental procedure before I get him to a groomer. Maxx is still spraying a bit but it is getting less and less everyday, he also has calmed down on his humping LuLu as well. He is becoming more trusting and has actually starting jumping up on my leg to get up. I have seen huge changes in him over the last few days and I don't think it will take long to get him to a happy normal state.

LuLu had no health issues at all and her teeth are good. On top of that my vet said she was not 'over' bred and was not 100% sure if she was pregnant - but said we would soon find out. LuLu is happy as a clam and is not timid and shy like Maxx (I think she got more attention in her last home)

My vet felt so bad about the whole situation she actual cut me a deal on the vet visit (which included shots) and is doing Maxx's whole dental procedure for only $150. I am over joyed. With the medical out of the way I am very relieved, now I can just focus on getting these pups to a healthy mental state!

Regardless if I was ripped off or not I am overjoyed with my 2 new family members and can see a very long life them. The whole family (even my husband) is just in love with these 2 dogs!

I will post pictures soon.

What good news! I'm glad, those doggies are in a much better living situation with you. I bet, with love and attention, they will become well-trained and loving companions.

Are you planning on spaying and neutering?

Isn't it amazing what love and caring can do? This...what you are seeing, especially with Maxx...is the whole reason I have rescued animals for so long...and why my family growing up also rescued animals. To see an animal in the condition your Maxx was in...who knew nothing of what it is like to be loved...and the turn around he is making because even without knowing what love is he can see that you and your family do love him...is without a doubt one of the greatest gifts you can receive! What a human may have tried to do in terms of financial manipulation against you will be returned many times over to you by the unconditional love these babies already have for you. You've uncapped their love buckets...get ready for the outpouring! Bless you for giving these babies the first real chance of their life!

I can hardly wait to see their pix!

I am so glad they are healthy but you didn't mention spaying and neutering them please tell me you do plan to do that? They could even neuter Max and take care of his teeth at the same time so he wouldn't have to go under twice. These dogs should not be breed for many reasons.

Oh, good, good news about the dogs and so glad you seem to be feeling a bit better about the situation. Everybody overpays for something at some time in their lives and later learns just how bad a deal they got but in this case, you have two little dogs that sure did desperately need some help and now they will be getting it and you will get lots of loving back from them.

I am concerned about a major health issue. You must get them to a vet and have a health check done, including lab work, including determination to verify if this girl is pregnant......this will be expensive. Then you need to have both these babies fixed....you can NOT possibly breed 2 dogs you know absolutely NOTHING about.....then they need to be cleaned up so you can at least SEE what you have. You can then start to train them to exist with a loving family, which is something they are not familiar with....this will take much patience and love and kindness, but these babies will reward you with complete devotion and loyalty.
At worst, you had been stuck with unhealthy dogs that you had paid a fortune for....all you could expect was unconditional love ands total devotion from these two darlings, for however long you had them....Now it seems it is just getting better and better! What wonderful news! They are healthy and you have a compassionate vet that cut you a fabulous deal on their care!!! And this is just the beginning! Those two babies are going to absolutely adore you and show you such loyalty and complete devotion! So you have done a glorious thing, my friend, saving these two from goodness knows what! You will be rewarded graciously and generously!!!!

Also, long story short - a friend of mine was going through a similar thing last summer, she received a very unhealthy female. It was obvious once we got her home. A quick visit to the vet and this dog needed immediate care that cost thousands. She couldn't get ahold of the seller (disconnected phone) but was able to find where she lived, went to the local police station and told them she scammed them and explained that she wanted to press charges. The police went to her house and came back with the CASH.....so I wouldn't hesitate to go to a police station near her home... just sayin....
Good call Lynzy420!

I'm so sorry this happened to you. I feel bad for you, and for the dogs. I'm a "find the silver lining" kind of person. At least you got the dog out of what was clearly a nasty environment. Hopefully, you'll be able to give them a better life, or find someone who will.

From my limited experience, Yorkies are VERY smart. It won't take your pair long to realize you're there to take care of them and love them. I find that my Teddy responds well to me because I'm firm, but sweet with him.

I wish you all the best with this, and I would ABSOLUTELY go to the police department and try to press charges against her. If that doesn't work, go to the court house and file suit against the previous owner for damages and being scammed. TAKE PICTURES OF THE DOGGIES BEFORE you bathe, clip, or treat them for anything as evidence.

As someone mentioned, wouldn't it be a good idea to have the male neutered when he has his dental work done? Or are you still planning on breeding them?

So glad to hear that the new guys are doing much better I just really overpaid for a shih tzu. It cost us $1300 and I know for sure that they only go for about $500 or so. I didn't care tbough I was in love with Basil and I would have paid more if I had to. You might have gotten ripped off but you rescued two furbabies that had a crumby life.

Wow, sorry about the loss of your other dog, you must have been under some type of severe distress to pay $3,900.00 for the pair. When you first said you took them, I was thinking probably for free or very little money especially since you said they looked to be such a mess. I about fell off my chair when I read that you paid $3,900.00 for the pair. I am glad to find out that they seem to be adjusting and are healthy.
