I am not suggesting the OP breed her new dogs, but if she plans too then she should discuss this with the vet right? She needs to find out if they meet the "standards" doesn't she? If his tongue sticks out then that is not normal and would point toward not breeding correct?
Are there tests she could order from the vet to see if they are good for breeding, or is it pointless if she doesn't have AKC or some other papers?
I don't know the answers to these things, and the OP probably doesn't either. I bring it up because she may ignore the pleas to spay and neuter since she apparently liked the breeding idea initially and now the vet says the girl is not overbred. How can a vet tell that anyway? Is there some sign? I just thought the OP should be educated on what research to do before she breeds, if she decides to do that. With more education about the process she might be more likely to just spay, neuter, and be happy.
I read the thread about breeding and was amazed at the supplies needed and what could go wrong during the birth! I would take my girl to the vet to deliver after reading all that. I wonder what THAT would cost. Luckily, my baby is spayed! |
