Because everyone responds in different ways to what they read, there are some people who do respond better to blunt talk. It may not be the OP, but someone who comes after and reads the thread. If blunt talk catches soneones attention and keeps them from doing something I'll advised or gets them to seek medical attention for their dog rather than perusing an Internet forum then it HAS done good.

Personally, I prefer blunt talk to snide swipes and encouraging irresponsible behavior.

I don't think that is a fair comparison. I am sorry, it is MUCH easier to control a < 20lb dog than it is to control a teenager. PLUS you cannot spay/neuter a teenager to prevent accidental pregnancies. An accidental dog pregnancy is MUCH easier to avoid/prevent. Period.

I cant talk for others but I personally would warn of the dangers and encourage someone to go to a veterinarian as well.
BUT I would so so as an adult, not lash out like a child.

Its not what is being said, its how its being said.
I'm not saying it should be sugar coated just responded to with tact.

How much tact can you use when the statement all yorkies should be bred according to the standard set by the breeds club is considered threatening by some and if you believe in it you have a radical mindset

You are dealing with a vast array of personalities on the internet. You cannot control others' behavior, you can only dictate your own.

If you feel people are being too harsh, all you can do is try to balance it with your own comments, but you cannot stop them from expressing themselves. It is what they think, and telling them not to do something because you feel differently will probably not stop them.

I agree. The way things are interpreted/perceived is so individual and subjective. It bothers me when I see people posting "you perceived that wrong, you didn't understand what was being said". I wish people would instead say something like "I didn't express myself very clearly. Let me try again".

If there is one thing YT has taught me, it's tolerance of how people express themselves, how they perceive things, and how different they the view things.

It has always been my opinion that any question posed on this board deserves an answer no matter how stupid our uneducated the OP is.
So my advice to those interested in responding to said posts is.....
Answer the question first THEN attack.

One of my firsts posts was about my 7 week old Adie who was critically ill. I was politely told that she was too young to have been separated from her mother but having said that was advised to get her to an emergency vet immediately. (It was the 4th of July and my vet was gone.) I wasn't blasted but treated with kindness and encouragement. The advice I received probably saved her life. I think the difference in the responses I got and the ones our OP is referring to is that I actually considered and followed the advice I was given. Then reported on Adie's progress. Since that day I have been a loyal member of this board and admit to having blasted a few members myself. But INOM they deserved it after trying EVERYONE's patience or attacking a well-meaning member.

Bottom line - if you don't want advice don't ask for it.

Well, I consider referring to me as "Miss Manners" and as "childish" unwarranted and offensive. Just as you, I was sharing my opinion and at no point said you were one of the people I was referring to or even disagreed with what you had to say.

Evidently, I didn't express myself well. When I referred to the miss Manners comments I was referring to the "you were rude/mean when you said blah blah blah" comments. I have a problem with anyone telling another poster either how or what they can post (with the exception of the mods ) Rather than being snarky (my perception) wouldn't it be more effective to post in the way you would rather read yourself?

I think they are all simply color variations of the same breed and the breed club should reflect that in their stance. Tus not multiclubs just a correction in the YTCA's inclusions...the AKC already recognizes them but it excludes these "fault" colored dogs from AKC shows thus they have their own in multiple varying "clubs"

In all honestly I was being crass as this thread has to do with breeding and the most obnoxious response to get from many breeders of standard Yorkies is that it's irresponsible or bad breeding for those who breed "fault" colors-it's a serious verbal slap in the face to the "fault" color breeders who put in just as much effort and just as much if not more work in "preserving" and "improving" their breed via their breeding programs...so I like to return the favor...quite often...a balancing of the scales I like to think myself.

As far as teacups, yes I know I was also just being crass but in many respect. Recently we have seen the creation for the "teacup" or downsized miniature schnauzers it's ridiculous...we're dealing in already very downsized breeds in the "toy" category...now if you have a runt you have a runt...but wow there's a whole lot of runts out there...just sayin' it seems unbalanced...

I just wanted to answer your questions here. But beyond that silliness (which is actually very serious for so many it's rude to call it silly) the point is that yes passions run high for many reasons...but when it comes to the care, treatment, and responsibility of animal husbandry....especially in breeding...WOW...some ppl need a good slap to wake up...just sayin' please no one go slap someone and then say it was me who told you too,
No one forces anyone to have an animal period, be responsible for the choices you make to get one....and educate yourself before you're in a position of mediocrity.

Yes, and many parti breeders feel the same as you do, they dislike the YTCA because the have set a standard and have sworn to protect it. THAT'S WHAT BREED CLUBS DO! So all this talk about how reputable breeders are so rude to people, is just talk! Too many people have not so hidden agendas, and it's not to protect the dogs.

If someone does not like the way a breeder has answered a question in a thread, answer it the way you think it should be answered, but remember a life is in your hands.

Me too, but yes unfortunately many people take directness as offensive...I just always wonder about those who beat around a bush, or overly sugar coat stuff...are they "killing me with kindness" or are they just so worried about speaking plainly they talk while walking on eggshells...
