I could walk anyone here through child birth and neonatal resuscitation. But it would be extremely irresponsible for me to do it in lieu of telling them to seek the help of an experienced person who can be at their side while it's going on. I think the same applies to breeding. No internet forum should ever take the place of a trained person who can be there to help and, if necessary, intervene. No amount of youtube videos or words on a page can take prepare someone adequately. Part of the reason for that is the novice doesn't know what they don't know. Something that would and should cause concern in an experienced breeder might not even faze a novice. They might not consider it important enough to even mention until it's too late. Plus anyone who's attended ANY type of delivery knows that there isn't a single checklist of things to look at; you look at the whole picture to determine how things are going and what, if any, actions need to be taken. That's really hard to do if you don't have anyone there with you who knows what the whole picture should look like. As for the "badgering and bullying", I would say that is a two way street. Constantly telling someone that they shouldn't be saying something, that they are rude or that they should let it go and move on doesn't make you right or them wrong about what is being said.

| ![]() Sorry you feel that way...politics as in people are passionate in their opinion of inclusion exclusion and passions on such run high...I'm on the left you are on the right...instead of finding middle ground we'll just...well make it all "political" like. Look, my point here was I more than think that when it comes to the topic of the thread, "people getting offended and opinionated, seeming to bully or run off newbies or people with breeding emergencies" that people do so out of concern... ...and was pointing out the difference in when people aren't bullying they are concerned about the health well being of a dog that could very well be in crisis of a health issue due to someone taking on or having something going on that seems to the responder to be dangerous due to irresponsibility or lack of what-to-do knowledge, and was expressing my issue with the over generalization of irresponsible breeding and in passions running high when it comes to animals...as opposed tothe difference in concern and attack when it just comes down to personal preferences, beliefs and so forth; generalizing based on ethnocentric type views. I'm semi perplexed personally with you feeling the YTCA gets attacked...or so often put down. I've always felt IMHO based on what I've seen here, it was the opposite: that persons associated with the YTCA seem to be on the attack and generalize "irresponsible" breeding, but that's another topic for another thread...interesting to me you see it that way, I just never saw it both ways... I'll consider your opinion for a moment on what I should like and should dislike...I think putting in the effort to consider all things from a different perspective is healthy to do from time to time. ![]() ![]() Coming here for support & a morale boost while going through it is one thing...looking for a step-by-step how to guide, in lieu of professional medical expertise, is quite another.

| ![]() On my iPhone just this Wednesday, I typed a quick note to my daughter's (serious) boyfriend's mother, saying thank you for a delightful dinner, and how nice it was to see her and the family. I then added a second text meaning to say, "And it was so yummy". Somehow I was all thumbs (Hah) and typed and sent (by mistake) this: "BS". My daughter will NEVER forgive me, I'm sure. I feel better reading about other similar texts! HOW does this happen?!

YT 2000 Club Donating Member | ![]() In a book that was written about 15 years ago, the narrator was speaking to a group of students during the kids "show and tell" day, you those days when you brought something from home and had to speak about it to the class for a minute or two? Well one little girl brought in a human brain, yup a real human brain (preserved too). Her daddy was a surgeon. It was needless to say a huge hit with all the kids. After the kids all had a chance to see, and chat with each other, the teacher took that little old brain in his hands, turned it, weighed it, and then shared some thoughts with the kids. He said; the most astounding thing to come out of the last 20 yrs of brain research, is that we are all so different inside. Literally how we see, where we see, what we hear, what we understand, seems to be processed uniquely by each individual. It is not amazing that sometimes we misunderstand each other; it is amazing that we understand each other at all! And so like you, there are threads that go I "feel" unnecessarily sidetracked, that there are times when judgements read harshly, when advice on what is asked is not answered, or the answer has become buried beneath lots of other suggestions, concerns, or questions. There are times when I suspect/feel, that the OP is taking advantage of all the "free advice" here. Whether that be to save them the time from having to research, or the money to pay a vet, or whatever whole host of other reasons there could be. I suspect for the breeders forum, a dilemmna many will at one time or another face is; through my help am I supporting poor breeding practises? I also know that every so often, we will have a thread about, how YTers respond poorly at times to threads. How we bully, or make unwelcome new posters, how we can do a/b/c differently. And that's okay, it is good to take the time to pause, review your own actions, and reflect.
