| ![]() Joey sleeps in his own room. On very rare occasions, I make an exception, but as a general rule, I think it's best this way.

| ![]() No Harvey Sleeps Downstairs In The Kitchen - In His Crate. He Has Done Since He Was 8 Weeks Old (those Sad Little Eyes Nearly Broke My Heart Though). He Is Quite Happy In Bed He Has His Blanket And A Wee Pad On The Other Side - But He Has Not Used It For Months Now (think I Should Take It Out Sometime Soon). I Love Being With Him And His Lovely Cuddles, But Personally I Think He Is Better Off In Bed In His Own Space, But That Is Just My Opinion, Each Has There Own Ways That Work Best For Them. My Husband And Daughter Hate To Be The Ones To Put Him To Bed Though - They Say He Wont Love Them ------ Ha

| ![]() Wookie and Zoie in their own crate.. each one has a crate with all of their very own stuff. But they are both in my bedroom on different sides. It's worked out great for us. We tried putting Wookie in the spare room but he went craazzzzyyy, when we put him in my bedroom he instantly understood and hasn't barked after that. They both whine in the middle of the night if they need to potty or if they didn't get enough exercise during the day, then they wake up super early. You know, I think they like company... SO it might be that he's lonely in that room. Thats what happened with wookie, the first night we brought him into the bedroom... still using the crate.. he stopped crying. | ![]() The first 10 years we always slept with our pets..then next 25 we have not...and not because I had so many, but I find it leads to distorted thinking on the dogs part.....Yorkies start to think they are equal to the leader if they sleep in the same bed... when they forget their pack positon it can lead to all sorts of behavior problems...they become more self willed and complicates training, such as potty accidents, excessive barking, aggression ...just my observations. |

| ![]() My two have slept in crates downstairs from day one. It took a lot for me to talk my husband into letting me get them in the first place and his only rule was no sleeping in our bed and it was never an issue for me. I don't believe dogs should sleep in masters bed and when I think about the dirt they drag in all day I can't imagine that ending up in my bed...never mind the ticks, bugs and others nastsies they do!! LOL! |

| ![]() Ferdinand sleeps babygaed in the laundry room. He used to bark for the first 10 minutes, but then I started turning off the light in there before I put him in there. He doesn't make a peep now. He also has a clock radio in there at night and during the day while we're going so he can listen to music for white noise. It's not really loud, but just enough so he can hear it and it's not total silence. He prefers country. ![]() When my bf is out of town I sometimes let Ferdie sleep in the bed with me, but he wakes up so much that it keeps me awake... so it's a rarity that he sleeps in the bed with me anymore.

| ![]() I don't get people kicking their pets out of the place they are used to sleeping just because the bf or fiancee doesn't like it. Really, doesn't that make you kind of think what would you do if your significant other objected to the skin babies waking them up? I don't know. I'd be a little leary of that. My husband never objected if the kids came into our room when they had a nightmare, even if neither of us got a lot of sleep. And he's never objected to having our puppy in the bed either. He loves her as much as I do and it wouldn't cross his mind to make me unhappy by separating us and making me listen to my furbaby howl just so he can do things his way. In effect you're putting your significant other's happiness ahead of your own, and it should really be the other way around. |

In effect you're putting your significant other's happiness ahead of your own, and it should really be the other way around.[/ Well..there are several factors here. Skin babies and fur babies are two different things. I would hope you and your spouse would be able to differentiate between the two and that skin babies are human and fur babies are dogs. Love for a dog and love for a human ARE two different things. I think that many problems on this board could be solved by simply treating dogs like what they are...dogs. That doesn't mean abuse, holding back affection etc. It just means that dogs are animals..not matter how much we love them, dress them up, feed them expensive dog food, push them in strollers, or carry them in baby carriers....at the end of the day they are canines and our human babies are our own flesh and blood. My husband (the one that won't allow the dogs to sleep in our bed) could win Father of the Year hands down! He's the most patient, loving, giving father I've ever seen. He was the one actually who liked our kids sleeping in bed with us more than me. Leary of him? Emphatically and respectfully not. Just because we realize that dogs are animals and not people..and treat them as such..doesn't mean we are unloving owners. Thanks for hearing me out. |

At the end of the day, just because my bf doesn't want Ferdi to sleep in our bed doesn't mean he loves him any less. It's just preference. However, I do know some people who cannot have skin children that really do treat their dogs as though they are their skin children. And that's totally fine.

Peeka Boo I See You! Donating Member | ![]() Peeka and Daisy sleep in their crate at night i don't trust Peeka or my cats to have them alone while i'm sleeping and Daisy isn't potty trained. I put the crates on a table next to my bed so they don't whine all night

On occasion i let them in there on my bed to hang out, but it's rare. If i'm in the bedroom, Wookie stands in the door way either waiting for me to tell him come in or waiting for me to come out. IT works great for us

| ![]() I have posted this in another thread but since it is almost about the same topic, I might as well repeat it here. There is the old saying of if your dog sleeps with you, they become the "Alpha".. The reason I say old saying is because new studies have been done and results are out. Dog have no such issues as in if they sleep in the bed, it doesn't make them think they are the "Alpha" although I bet a lot of people still thinks so because of the old school influence. I have read it in an article, reliable and if I can find it, I will post the link but I am pretty busy right now being that it is Chinese New Year Eve today. So don't worry too much about them becoming the Alpha. My dog do not sleep in the bed with me though, he sleeps in his bed right beside my bed and he moves throughout the night, sometimes he goes to the hallway, sometimes under the bed and wherever he likes but when he was younger, he sleeps in his bed for fear that I will dissapear ![]()

I think that once you give in a little it's hard to take it back. I let my kiddos sleep in bed with me on the weekends for about an hour. Not all night, and only 1 night during the week.. so they feel super special when I do that, but thats all they get. If they got to sleep with me every day, it woudln't be special, they would expect it

| ![]() Sissy always slept in her "room", the downstairs bathroom where she had a doggie bed, crate that was open with toys in it, food and water with a nitelight. When she got sick at 10 months old, the hubby wanted to bring her in bed with us. That was the end of her sleeping in her room. Now that we have Angel, the plan was to use the Xpen in the office for her space. She climbed out of the pen on day 3, so out that went. The first night she began to whine when we left her in there, so I ended up sleeping with her on the couch. We did this for a few nights because Sissy wouldn't settle down and sleep with Angel in bed also. Plus, Angel usually potties in the middle of the night - Sissy does not. After about a week of this, I put Angel in the downstairs bathroom. She does just fine down there and we all sleep better now!!
