Anyone NOT sleep with their yorkie(s)? I'm interested to hear from anyone that sleeps in a seperate room from their dog(s)...We will be starting a new regimine due to behavioural issues...I know Thor won't be a big fan of the change, but we're making some changes so he can be a better dog. I feel like he'll be lonely, but I know I have to get over it.:( So please share! Thanks! |
Gracie sleeps with me now but up until she was 1 she slept in the spare room in her play pen. That is were she would always go when I said ok it bed time! She is 2 years now and she sleeps with me but only because my boyfriend began working nights about a year ago and I needed company :). Lily who is 11 weeks she sleeps in her playpen in the spare room now and I am sure she will sleep in the bed as well if she is ever big enough so I feel comfortable having her in bed. IT is possible for them to not sleep with you. It just takes a lot of strength to tell them no :) |
Grayson sleeps in his crate but he is in our bed room, If my hubby would agree he would be in the bed for sure! |
My four all sleep in their crates in a separate room. No problems whining or anything. They just expect it. Even our newest little one does very well in her crate. |

My two both sleep in crates in the laundry room. Since I am breeding them, I had to teach them to be separated right from the beginning. In the beginning, I had them in the smae crate, but then I separated them, but the cratres are side by side so they know the other one is there. When we get our two new ones, they will also be in crates at night. They don't fuss when I put them to bed, but they are eager to get out in the morning. He might take to the change better if you give him a toy or a Kong when you crate him for the night. Maybe something that is reserved for nights only. |
Mattie doesn't sleep with us -- his bed is on the floor right beside our bed on my side. We still box him in at night as he's only 3 month tomorrow. When he need to go potty in the middle of the night he lets me know and we get up and then back into his bed he goes. But in the morning he does get to get in bed with us for a few minutes as we all doze off a little before completely waking up. This seems to be working out great for everyone. |
Both Rocco and Sissy sleep with us. I am looking for suggestions also. Rosie wakes me up a few times a night moving around. So, I will welcome the change. I tried a few weeks ago and it didn't go well at all. They both cried most of the night and I felt awful about it! |
Two of our four females sleep with us. The other two sleep with our daughter. If they have to potty, they kiss us so that we can take them to the pad in the bathroom. I just love the way they snuggle up on top of my husband at night and next to me when he turns over. I would have all four, but we need some room to sleep. |
Yorkie Sleep I think I read somewhere once that it was a major NO NO to not sleep with your Yorkies. I wouldn't know how to act, now granted not all of them sleep with me but I have to have at least two in my bed. Even Hubby has gotten used to the fact that they are a MUST have item. |
Thor used to be crate trained. Slept in his crate on and off down stairs. New BF said, ''no dog in the bed''. So did dog trainner. It's so hard. Now he sleeps beside the bed. He's getting kicked out of the room now. We are thinking he'll just have one room to himself, with his crate in it. It's gonna be hard. But my BF is a light sleeper, and Thor will get up and scratch, or whine, or prance around the bed making noise. Thor used to be crate trained and would go in his crate by himself, voluntarily, but now we have to force him in there. Also, his crate is pretty huge, and we have to collapse it an set it up as needed or it'll take up the whole room! I don't know if this is confusing or not. Thanks to everyone for sharing their stories. It's comforting knowing that he won't be the only little guy kicked out of the room. |

Chloe sleeps in the crate every night downstairs in the family room. If you're trying to transition from bed to crate, you have to do it all at once. Put them in the crate in another room, and don't go to them when they cry. If they've been used to the bed, then they will cry all night long for about 3 nights. If you go to them even once, expect it to never get better. They will learn that the crying gets them out. If you grin and bear it, no talking, no going to them, no letting them out just this once, it won't last long. It is good for them to have their own space. Dogs are denning animals and the crate is a safe haven for them. So you don't need to feel guilty over it. good luck :) |
No Way.... She sleeps with us but she doesn't bother us at all. But sometimes I would like she uses her own bed but is my fault, I spoiled her too much. Now she is in her second heat and to sleep in my bed, she has to wear a diaper. :D |
