One thing I would like to say in regards to lighter colored Yorkies. I don't agree with dying a dog either, but lighter ones do show up. That doesn't mean they can't produce a correct dog and the tint of blue is no reason to discount these dogs as off-colored. Partis bred to partis will only produce partis so there is zero chance of getting a correctly colored dog from them.

Not every breeder produces cookie cutter dogs with 100% conformation, even with good lines. I get the impression that some think the breed standard is what a standard, typical Yorkie should look like. The breed standard describes the ideal Yorkie and many will not meet the ideal. Many exhibitors have said on this forum how they may have to wait several litters to get a great prospect. The ideal is something to strive for...not something that is achieved every time.

I am not a breeder, but that makes perfect sense to me, and even I can understand it.

But seriously, I see a value in threads like these as they not only help people form their own opinions on these issues, but help them understand both sides of an issue and see what goes into making people believe one way or the other. You don't always have to agree, but understanding something/someone goes a long way in helping to resolve differences.

I for one, am delighted to see the passion we ALL feel for our precious yorkies.. It can't be a bad thing that there are so many people who truly love and care so deeply about these special little creatures. At least we all have that in comman.

Donna in the short amount of time I have been on YT you have always remained professional, honest, and straight forward. You are passionate about the breed, stand behind your convictions and appear to do as you say to improve not only the looks of this great little dog but also only breed/show healthy yorkies and I applaud you for that.
It is nice to see a YTCA member that is so compassionate yet in a respectful manner. I just wish it was that way with more here on YT.
I too get heated and I have even apologized to for my mouth once or twice but for the most part have tried to be respectful.
We may have very different opinions on ONE small part of the breed but both agree that health is priority number 1 and always should be.
Now the original reason of the post was to say "THANK YOU DONNA"!!

When you breed an AKC traditional colored yorkie to a Biewer can you get a traditional colored yorkie? If so, do you register that puppy and with what registry?

You misunderstood. You stated the parti's will produce a color fault and I just stated the standards can as well. Not my opinion - just fact.

A parti carrier will ALWAYS produce a color fault or a color fault carrier.

Yes, you would only get traditionally colored yorkies as the traditional color is dominate and it takes 2 recessive genes to get a Parti colored yorkie. If however, the traditionally colored yorkie was a carrier (had the spotting gene).. it could be a different story.

I myself, would only register the traditionally colored puppy if I were planning on keeping him/her in my breeding program, otherwise I would not register the puppy.. some disagree with this and believe all of the pups should be registered so as to keep track of lines, colors, pups born etc.. they have a valid point however I personally don't do it.

The puppy would be registered with a Biewer registry.. there is at least one registry in the states and many in Germany that could be used to register the "carrier" or traditionally colored puppy from a Biewer/AKC Yorkie mating. Most of the German clubs recognize the AKC registry and accept their registration I believe.

I think what she is trying to say is this...

A parti can produce a color fault but so can a blue and tan produce a color fault as well. Any color other than blue and tan is considered a fault so if they produced a black/gold pup for example it would be still be a color fault.
Both are capable of producing color faults as well as correct color.

Thank you! The reason I can be respectful and professional on this subject is because I know what I do with my breeding program and what I believe and don't feel the need to justify or defend myself. But where I do feel I can get frustrated or maybe less respectful is on the breeding thread where someone has bred their female without any research and coming online to ask for help and not take the advice someone has given them or breed a tiny female ect...now that is where I can get my dander up LOL.
But as far as breeding to the standard and showing and with health being the #1 priority no one can get my dander up over it because I stand behind what I believe in and do so, so no reason to get defensive or not be any other way but respectful and professional.
I can be a bitach or some would call me down right mean and nasty but one has to really know the real me to know there is always a reason to why I would be that way or react that way. But in reality other than my true friends and family I could care less what anyone thinks of me or what they call me because those that know me, know the real me
