As for follow by example, again, why don't the parti breeders test their dogs. They seem to think that their dogs are healthier that normal colored dogs... where would they get that idea??

Really it's no different then breeding a Parti carrier to a standard to take the gene recessive and as long as you continue to breed to a standard you can keep the gene recessive. Another trend that should be of concern is breeders breeding the extreme doll faced yorkies. Cute Yes, but can eventually wind up harming the dogs in the long run with breathing problem. We have seen what can happens by changing the natural appearance of dogs and the health problems it has caused. Take a look at the founding dogs and how they have changed over the last 100 + years. Terriers then had a nice nose length. Breeders better wake up and take care that the dogs over the 100 years don’t turn out with Peke faces.

Did you know you could feed your maltese kelp and it helps restore some of the black on their nose that may have faded from lack of light. Donna I wish more people were like you. You have strong beliefs and stick to them but at the same time you can have a nice debate with someone without belittling them. I've always respected you and your knowledge and I'm glad we have you on this forum. I personally love the parti look although for me I have a very specific color placement that I prefer. My main concern for the parti breeders is that they are being called unreputable because of the color they are striving for. I don't think this is fair if they are upholding the rest of the standard and ethics, health testing, etc. They are after all striving for a goal which is to get them shown. They are trying their best to go about it the right away so how can they be called bad breeders?

| ![]() My Roger is a lighter steel blue (not silver) and Bonnie is more of a medium tint. The pups they've had have coats that mostly are a bit darker than Roger's. Two exceptions. They had one boy in their first litter with a darker coat and now I have one girl from their last litter that has a very dark coat. It doesn't seem to be 'black' but is really dark (she's in my avatar). So, my experience has been that you can get great color using a lighter dog. I'd like to see it happen more often, and that's (hopefully) something I can attain in the future. I don't see that you have to be breeding only the ideal color to be breeding for standard, as I think has been implied here. And, even if you do, there's no guarantee that every pup will be that ideal color. Wouldn't it be nice if that were so.....

YT 2000 Club Donating Member | ![]() Truly serious... Only 38 out of the hundreds of thousands of Yorkies out there? How many of the 38 are partis?

| ![]() That is not possible. For as many dark steel blue dogs you see there will be that many variations of color. It's not a true color, it's a dilution, nor does it breed true. And please don't make suggestions on how to breed for a competitive normal yorkie in color, structure, temperment and health....please!!! |

| ![]() Elle, This will be my last post to you....EVER! I am not on YT to sell puppies....I don't even have any and have only raised 2 litters....can you say the same? Oh, and yes, I'm a new breeder...what is the problem with this?! It's none of your business but since you have decided to attack me like you have, I feel obliged (FORCED) to share with all of YT my reasons!!!!!!!!! I have always dreamed of raising these precious little dogs. When my first baby passed away in her daddy's arm and we were all told that I wouldn't make it, I decided to start living my dreams because life is short. We buried our first baby and told myself that I would never look back on my choices with regret. I am blessed to be able to do just that...live my dreams. I have been through more in my life than I care to share, but feel like I have to tell this part because of your harsh words. This is why I hold no apologies to anyone for my passion towards breeding the parti...I love them, period! I stand by what I said...you are being rude, but I think that's pretty apparent to most now. If a human being can't see that their are actual feelings/lives behind a commuter screen, then that's very sad. Having to type this all out has made me feel so sick to my stomache....are you glad?
