If they're not eating it entices them, as they begin a normal eating pattern I eliminate it from their diet using less and less....as in anything its the amount one feeds, overdoing any feed one will get bad results.

LOL "O wise one" I will take this as sense of humor speaking, I hope ! I keep all my adults, teens and puppies on puppy food my oldest adult is 7 and I have NO overweight dogs. The reason for this is because theyre very active, I do not kennel my dogs, they are free to play and run inside on rainy days and outs running and play on warmer days. Some may disagree with this, but it works for me, I do not like thin or lean yorkies...and yes I can still feel the back bones on some of my bitches even with the higher protein diet.

| stewiesmom I have to say that Little Cesar is NOT economical!!!!! At the super market on average a tin runs $0.99 - $1.05 per for 3 oz where as chicken soup is $1.05 for an 8 oz can at a local pet store, go figure sometimes junk doesnt come cheap.

If that's cheap to you, i wouldn't want to see your (stewiesmom's) pet food bill.

| Yikes didnt mean to post so much on this thread but I will share a recent story!!! Sunday night I got a call from a show/breeder friend her pups are having grand mal seizures. As we talked we figured it was environmental chemicals that was causing this, a cleaner she was using from petedge if not diluted properly could cause nero damage, first I suggested using odoban for all cleaning surfaces, second you consider the genetics. This was a repeat breeding (4th time) and had never happened before. She cleaned the area last satuday and the little 11 weeks old boy seized on sunday, then a week later she cleaned again with the same product the little girl and boy both seized. The vet couldnt figure out a damn thing all test results came back clear (the tests were repeated many times) I told her to wash everything down once again with only mild soap and water, then only to use odoban when cleaning. Long story short because of this they wouldnt eat so daily she was taking them to the vet for fluid under the skin, I took her little Cesars yesterday they ate it like little pigs, this morning I got a wonderful email they are acting normal no seizures at all through the night and they woke up starved and the only thing they would eat again is the little cesar! Like I said use what works!

Okay, I am going to keep her on the puppy food. Ya know, Ceeby has never eaten puppy food of any kind until now. he loves his new dry and the wet ceser's. So i am going to leave him on it too. His dry is Science Diet Nature's Best.

AWWWWWWWW thank you for the kind words. I want to make sure what I previosly posted is clear...none of my kids get the little cesar as their daily normal diet I use it for short term problem eaters, or kids I know need to gain weight because their not eating enough. I wean them off little cesars using less and less until their proper eating habits are re-established back to only dry. I NEVER JUST FEED the little cesar wet its always mixed with a quality dry, merely coating the dry food. I prefer the dry for many reasons when my kids get bored with it as they all do I will mix in a can of carrots or green beans or cottage cheese or every sunday they get scrambled eggs ...BUT always mixed with their dry.

| I posted back on page 2 about only feeding Royal Canine dry to my dogs... I don't feed little ceasers just because they never had a problem eating and don't like buying several different kinds of food if I don't have any picky eaters... yah! I do feed them some veggies after we are done eating and cottage cheese when we have it and the odd bite size cheese as a treat. If the protein content is 24% and that is too high I would like to switch to something else. Here Royal Canine is the second highest priced dog food and I only have one place in the whole city that carries it...So if someone else has found a good dry food that is lower in protein I would love to know how it works for them. |

| I was giving Parker Premium Edge, but he always needed gravy or wet Cesars or Iams added in, not too much. I just switched over to Eukanuba, which he likes fine dry, but seems like it made his stools a little runny. Has anyone else had this? |

| 20 pellets? OMG, I must be overfeeding Parker. How old is yours? I give him about 1/4 cup 3x a day. |

| I think I'm more confused than ever people! What I'm reading here on some of your posts is that Royal Canin is too high in protein At 24% and yet so many on this forum feed their babies the Innova Evo which is 42% protein!! I was going to start Muffin (7 months) on Evo because she will be out of food by Sunday. The person at the natural food store said that contrary to popular belief, the high protein does not cause liver damage in dogs. Who do I believe? Royal Canin made Muffin itch, the Wellness kibble is too big for her so what the heck should I feed her? |

And I do feel 42% is definitely too high. 24% is closer to what I feed puppies from weaning on.
