| Paris is so adorable. Just give her alot of TLC, she will probably eat off your finger or even on the end of a spoon. I did that with one of my picky eater and she got so spoiled she would to to her bowl and sit till you come over to feed her. They get spoiled when you have to go to long lengths to help them to eat. You would do anything to get them gaining. Good luck with all this she is so pretty. I can understand how you picked her.

| Ok if anyone is still reading this my little girl is 8.0 oz today! But she will only eat vegetable baby food she turns her head to any meat unless you syringe it! I don't want to do that! She will only eat off of a spoon and that is fine with me right now but my question is does anyone have a vegeterian dog and if so do you have to give them supplements? If yes what kind? How often? ETC.....Well she is doing great but would like to see her eat some meat.....Her teeth still are not in completely so maybe when she get them in she will like the dry which she like to put in her mouth and chew on but then spits it out like a toy and goes on about her business. Help is this diet ok or do I need to do something different? I HAVE TRIED EVERYTHING EXCEPT LET HER STARVE MY VET SAID WHEN SHE GETS HUNGRY SHE WILL EAT BUT I AM NOT PLAYING WITH HIS FIRE! |

| Have you tried putting kibble in the blender and grinding it into a powder then add milk or warm water and then try spooning that to her if she likes eating out of the spoon. I would also try that with chicken. Try it several times during the day to keep her eating. She might like that. I know some feed a mixture of process kibble for a nighttime thing and the puppies really like it. Mine never ate it. But its worth a try to see if she will. I think I would try about anything to keep food in her.Good luck and keep us informed.

| I wish you all the luck in the world keeping your Yorkie well. Why do you think a breeder would sell a puppy so young and so tiny? The chances of Paris surviving without your constant care are slim..but you are well informed and on the ball..how many new owners would not be..and little Paris would be at Rainbow Bridge by now...what kind of breeder turns a blind eye like this and does not care...Paris is so fortunate to have you as her owner...best wishes |

| I, too, disagree with your vet. I brought home a very small Yorkie and was told that she would eat when hungry. She was eating, but very little. The third morning I had her, I woke up to find her in a hypoglycemic state. Had I not lived close to an Emergency Clinic, I'm not sure that she would be alive today. As soon as they saw her, they rushed her to the back and started IV fluids on her and had to keep her for three nights to completely stabilize her. Granted, she had some secondary problems I was unaware of (coccidia & giardia) when I brought her home from the breeders, I brought her home on a Friday and could not get her to my regular Vet until Monday afternoon ~ that appointment was cancelled by our emergency clinic visit (and $2500 later!). Do whatever you can do to get food down her...I had to finger feed Lola for a very long time after with baby food, but it was well worth it. She is healthy, happy, 2.5 lbs and the absolute joy of my life today...but I never go far without food and nutrical in my purse. I would continue to feed her as often as she will eat and maybe get a liquid vitamin supplement from your vet...that helped us. Good luck to you. |

I think that your vet may not be used to dealing with Yorkies this small. His advice to wait until she is hungry is deadly advice. I would bet the farm that she has a liver problem which is why she is not wanting to eat and why she is small. Many times this does not show up in a blood test. You will have to get a BAT test (very cheap) for that and that will have to wait until she is bigger. Liver disease in Yorkies is extremely common and managable so don't worry. Until then, just get some nutrition down her. Use the Rebound and syringe it if you have to. You can mix the Rebound and a/d together and use the syringe. Feed her a little every few hours. I did that for awhile with Lily alternating between that and the recipe mix. The Rebound has 100% of the nutrients that she needs and will hopefully get her through this rough period.

| I am wondering too about liver issues and she is only eating the veggies because she has already learned that they do not make her feel sick...liver dogs are very picky and often then refuse to eat foods that have made them feel sick (naseous) in the past... these most likely would be foods with a meat source as their main protein.. There are some vegatarain dog foods out there...I know whole foods has a canned veggie dog food... maybe she would like that?

| Paris is doing great and having no hypo epsodes as long as every three to four hours I am giving her some vegetables. She will not eat out of a dish! She will eat it off the floor which I do not like but I do put a little on there at night and get up two time and check and give her what she will eat off of a spoon! I have tried the dry in the blender and she turns her nose to it I have not tried to put that in the vegs but will try later today I have a chicken breast boiling now and hope she will eat that. I am giving her the rebound mixed into the vegs. but she will not take this stuff without it being mixed in....She is peeing and pooing great it is firm (not to firm just perfect if poo can be perfect) and up walking around she does not play a lot but everything is too big to play with so she likes our fingers....Well I am not so worried about her that I make my self sick about it at this point....I was when I posted this original thread but now that she is eating the vegetables and not hypoing I am not as concerned! I still would like to get more meat into her....I can sneak in some baby meat on the spoon with vegs. but have to be sneaky like you would with a baby! I hope the chicken works! I will keep you posted and any advise help! Because I am running out of ideas! Shelly |
